    Thank you for making this video. It was exactly the info I was searching for:what to look for from germination thru harvest- so I can find it in the pasture. Totally relate to rain dilemma: our 2022 season exactly.

      Awesome I’m glad you found it helpful. Teff definitely like water, I had heard it was drought tolerant and perhaps it is a little. It won’t die but it won’t grow well without it. Also Teff loves nitrogen. Where you’ll burn most other grasses Teff just gobbles it up!

    Teff thrive in a dry season. No much rains is needed. Why you're not selling the grain you cut soon. Rest in peace

      The Teff that we grow is developed for forage and there just isn’t a market for the seed here that I know of. And I don’t have any way to harvest it for the seed. I get more out of it for hay, because I can cut it multiple times, than I would the seed. And here it does ok without rain but it definitely needs a healthy amount of rain to produce a productive crop.

    Teff grass is very drought resistant stuff. Your crop looks great. How did you plant it...was the ground tilled or not?

    Did the teff dry easy for baling ? I've heard it doesn't dry very good gor making dry hay?

      No it doesn’t dry the best. But it did good enough to get in a bale. It did take it about 5-6 days though but we are pretty humid too.

    Do you have to plaint it ever year or is it all was there?

    Does it have grain/seed? Or don’t you want that, in addition to hay?

    • @thebalerman
      @thebalerman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t harvest the seed. Teff was originally used for the grain in Africa. I don’t know of anywhere in the US it’s harvested for the seed. Just forage production here
