Screw counting project final version

This was published 7 years ago, so I am not sure if you would see this post and be able to respond. I am a teacher that coaches robotics. At the end of our seasons, we take most things apart, and we end with a box of unsorted screws of many different lengths. This box has gotten quite full and we wish we could build a machine to sort them. Your counting machine gives us some ideas. Your goal is to count, our goal is to sort 10 different lengths of the same type of screw with the same screw head. If you were interested in helping/mentoring us in a sorter build, we would all learn so much. Have time to do something like that?

it over-counts because the sensor is too far down the chute. It could have the right amount, then shutoff but have another screw drop past it. It needs better reaction time (or space out the dog bone shapes). I'm very interested in buying or making something like this since I manually count tons of the same size screw every day for my startup business. If you can, please send me any info on the parts, firmware code, etc... I'm not in the business of copying this to rip you off, I really need this tool to help speed up some of these menial tasks!

Can this be adapted to pill dispensing machine? I am trying to organize a simple method of dispensing medicine for my father who is 98.

Use interrupts in your motor and parts counting software. A proper design will fix your problems.
