- In this video I talk about my main tripod the Leofoto Ranger LS-365CEX which I've matched with the Leofoto VH30R Head to make what I feel it the best tripod EVER! I've owned this set up for a year, and I thought it was time I gave my thoughts on it.

Good stuff Joel. Appreciate the shout out mate. All the best for your adventures this year.
I’m pretty sure anyone who watches me would already be watching your channel. 😜
Seriously... does Nikon review, shows nice astro image showing some red over orion... and I'm like no waaaay i thought we needed modded cameras to see those... and then he announces that the background image is from his modified canon... Why did you even use that image with the Nikon Z6 title on it as preview... that is so EFFING MISLEADING!
It’s called clickbait. 👍🏼 But if you modded a Nikon Z6II it would look the same.
Shut up clown
@@TheTiredPhotographer and you somehow missed the memo that such clickbait is pathetic? You lie to get views, how can you not see how wrong this is?
Sorry you feel that way. 🤷🏻♂️ This does happen on TH-cam, and in online marketing for the most part.
I feel the same. You're just selling snake oil here. Sad.
Great vid. Nikon is killing it. And you didn’t even touch on the Z6ii’s insane Timelapse features like exposure smoothing. It can shoot an Astro Timelapse on P mode changing iso , aperture and shutter speed automatically with no skips or jitters !
I wish I had the camera longer to have a play with the timelapse mode. I’m sure I can reach out to Nikon again to get another loaner.
What a beautiful scene! Thanks for walking us through the shooting process in detail and your thoughts on the camera and lens 😁
Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it. 🙏🏻
that f1.2 lens is amazing . I bought the z9 but as a backup i am going to buy the z62 and going to try this. Here in the Netherlands it is not that dark but with some timing it is workable
The Z6II would nearly make me leave Canon and switch, the camera is that good 👌🏼
@@TheTiredPhotographer wow good to read
I've had my z6 II for a year now. I only had my Tamron 24-7 G2 to start with. I bought the 20mm lens in early summer. That is a fantastic combo as Richard has said. I'm sure there's things the R6 does better but I prefer the raw files I get from Nikon. I don't do a lot of sports and wildlife so my z6 II does everything I need it to do. It may have already beenmentioned but when using a z lens the camera will automatically focus to infinity when you turn it on. But I think I remember them saying that you can set the camera up how you want it then turn it off and it will remember everything when you turn it back on. I think you have to enable that in the settings. I could be wrong.
The Z6II is now my favorite Nikon camera I’ve used for sure! 🙌🏼
Question! Isn’t your background inverted? Orion’s belt should be to the left of the Orion Nebula. Flip your phone 180 degrees and that’s the way it has to look.
Do you live in the same place as this guy or on another part of our spherical earth? If you do the latter, it explains why you experience the sky differently at night.
What is the max LCD screen magnification in live mode for focusing on stars?
I love my z6II and its been a fantastic camera for most occasions but low light is fantastic
I honestly couldn’t believe how well it actually performed. 👌🏼 Best I’ve used for sure.
Nice one Joel. Looking forward to your R6 review.
That video will be coming, I just have a few other videos I need ticked off first.
Happy to here that about the 50mm 1.8s, its the superior lens for the money. It was what I could afford with my new Z6ii, and was hoping to do some astrophotography.
as a Nikon user the Z6ii was my choice because of its low light capabilities, it is a fantastic camera, the misunderstood auto focus is incredible. Nikon has always made great cameras, but gets bad press, hum, I wonder why?
Some days I nearly wish I was a full time Nikon shooter because of that camera.
I'm glad I stuck around to hear you recommend the f /1.8 over the 1.2.
The 1.8 is a smaller lens and still very sharp 👌🏼 The f1.2 no doubt is great for portraits.
Great review and shot! Would you say Z6II is a good one for astrophotography / landscapes? I am looking at the SonyAs7iii as well.
I’d choose the Z6II over a A7SIII if you’re wanting to do more than Astro Nightscapes with it. It’s a phenomenal camera 👌🏼
Nicely done. Great end result.
Thank you for your kind words
Great video, thanks. What modified canon camera do you use?
I had my Canon 5Ds modded to Full Spectrum.
well i'd like to see how it performs on the core....I guess later! love you vid format
Thanks for the kind words.
Hello, I am in the process of changing from a Nikon D750 to mirrorless, and I have the doubt for astrophotography and nebulae which of the two models is more suitable, if the Z6 II or the Z7 II, which would you recommend since I like deep space a lot? Thank you very much!
100% Z6II for Astro work.
Great vid mate…I know u’ve used the EOSr, that’s the camera I’ve currently got…in your honest opinion having used many different cameras…how does it hold up & compare against the Z6 & some of the low light Sony’s? Is it worth changing? Look fwd to future vids….
Sony’s/Nikons are better ever so slightly with low light photography, but with using techniques of stacking and tracking it nearly becomes obsolete. Most new cameras are all awesome, as I use a Canon 5DIII and a Canon 5Ds (Modded) and I can get good images out of them and they’re 6-7+ years old. The EOS R is great, and have contemplated buying one and having it Ha Modded. 👌🏼
@@TheTiredPhotographer thanks mate….I really wanted to get out much more this year & test out the R with my tracker & some dark skies & really see how I can push it…I contacted camera clinic in Melbourne (as advised by Richard) & they said I can only full spectrum mod the R…I obviously only wanted to H-Alpha mod the camera - do u know if this is correct or do u know someplace that completes mods in Brissy?
@@jffro They only offer a Full Spectrum Mod, but I thought that if you where to buy the Baader Visible + Ha filter they would install it? But I might be wrong. Otherwise I think the best place out there to get it done in Spencers in the USA.
@@TheTiredPhotographer I might have to email them back to check….but yeah Spencer’s would be the best place to get it done but not sure of the $$$ since they are based in the US….
how do you focus? I have Z7II and I find the screen is very noisy in darkness making it very hard to manual focus on the stars.thanks
I used the digital zoom to zoom in on a bright Star, and focus in on it. It’s easy.
I’m confused- you used a stock Z6ii for the sky images or a modified camera, and was it a nikon?
I used the Z6II for the foreground part of the image, and for the sky portion I used my modified Canon 5Ds as to get more colour from the Ha. Once you go down the track of using a modified camera it’s hard to go back.
@@TheTiredPhotographer ...but the video is titled "Nikon Z6II for Astrophotography." Don't you think that is misleading?
I dont think you can use a powerbank and charge the camera when the camera is turned on.
You can, but you will need a powerbank that has the more powerful “Quick Charge” feature, so it has a suitable power delivery. 👍🏼
@@TheTiredPhotographer hmmm... I just tested this again, but it doesnt work for me. Now I don't know if Z6 mk2 supports this and Z6 mk1 (my camera) doesnt, or do I need EN-EL15C battery and not EN-EL15B battery, which I own now. Thanks for your answer, good to know that there is an option, I just hope it is the battery, but there is also a slight chance that mk2 drains less power and that's why you can charge it while shooting.
@@matej.mlakar The ENEL15B can't be charged in camera, only the ENEL15C can.
@@TheTiredPhotographer can be charged, but if you turn the camera on, the charging stops :D at least on Z6 mk1
@@matej.mlakar OG Z6 unfortunately doesn’t support power delivery via USB-C while the camera is switched on. They fixed this in the mk2 version, so I use a Jupio Power Vault with dummy battery on my Z6 to achieve the same result.
Why are you tired?
😂👍🏼 Fair question. I work full-time, I’m a father of two young kids and I like to drive for hours to dark skies and take photos all night. This is why I’m so tired. 🫠👍🏼
Whatever equipment you're filing with, it's terrible, horrible grainy greys and blacks.
So much noise
Nothing to do with TH-cam compression maybe?
