While PoE nets about $100m a year and $50m in profits per year, Diablo 4, already in its much shorter lifetime, has made $1b through sales alone and another $150m through microtransactions. Diablo certainly does not wish it was a noname niche title for nolifers. And while PoE 2 may be the objectively better game overall, it is the objectively worse game for the targeted Diablo 4 audience which is more casual on average. It is not even close.
Doesn't matter. Even if Path of Exile was 10 heads higher in every way, it would still be called diablo-like. The same goes for the souls-like genre. Even if a game came out an order of magnitude better than any dark souls, it would still absolutely always be called souls-like
Never because all their inspiration comes from being huge fans of diablo 2. You can hate on diablo as much as you want but that was the foundation on which Poe 1 and 2 were based

Some of us casuals like to have a brainstorming break, to figure out the build further or whatever, mashing 1 button in diablo4 (with very limited ways to build your character I should mention) to kill everything gets boring real quick. I'm a casual and I'll give this a go, absolutely. Also hoping not everyone looks up the build on the internet and tries to figure his own thing sometimes, this game looks like there's a lot of combos to try
P.O.E. 2 is going to change this genre for the better. Simple yet effective changes to gameplay is going to make a big difference. Prime example of a game listening to it players

As interesting as some things sound especially with the sorc i don´t even undestand half of the explained mechanics and not only what they exactly do but how they are triggered also. Man thats a lot of stuff to take in. Guess i just go with merc or sth. for the start. Looks way less complicated and more fun to play.
I hope they remove the 'unshieldable' mechanics and just make those types of attack break a lot of stamina instead. It serves the same purpose but less complicated to think.

I never got into PoE1 though I knew it existed (as a huge Diablo 2 fan), but this, this just looks insane, and I honestly can't wait to try it.

Maybe it's just me but these kind of games have sadly become overly complicated so it's almost impossible to have fun playing them.
