I bought an '82 GPZ 550 new in '84. It had Z1R looks with awesome handling. I loved it immensely

Ha, yeah, snow. I live in the Bahamas … believe me, you can get damn tired of 90 degrees for 350 days a year. Groundhog Day on steroids. Looking forward to the first run … and thanks for the procedure for removing that baffle, I have the identical pipe but in 1000R black, took it to South Africa in my checked luggage on Delta last year. Looking good and waiting on the 550 project. HNY!

    Dear Carl,
It must have been quite a disappointment to learn that the beautiful Kawasaki KZ1000 Z1R is running only on 3 cylinders so I’ll keep my fingers crossed you’ll solve the problem soon. The winter wonderland in Massachusetts started and for WIlleke and me it’s really beautiful because with us there’s hardly such a number of snow to see. With us it can freeze rather nasty although since climate changes are going on it’s already a long time ago that the eleven city ice skating tour was held. For your information this is an ice skating tour for maximum 12.000 competitors on frozen lakes and channels in the county of Friesland with us. Even cars were driving on the ice at that time. The last tour was held at January 4th., 1997 so quite a time ago and before that it was held more or held yearly depending on the temperature.
Anyways WIlleke and I looking forward to your next vlog and send you as well as your family love from the Netherlands

Hey Carl. Just started working through you playlist. I have the same Z1R and have owned it for 30 years (hasn't been on the road for about 17, but started every year while having a beer). It's been through every imagine condition in Australia (no snow) and even a kangaroo (not fun). I'm about to embark on a restoration project so your content is amazing. Be great to chat to you about the experience some time. Not sure where you are but I have a good mate in Mystic NE.

Definitely not a criticism, but in Australia we refer to all the Z Kawasaki's as ZED not ZEE, I myself have a Rickman Z900A4 and a GPZ1100 '83. Thoroughly enjoyed your rebuild of this classic Kwacka.

Ya the Brits & most Europeans do also. The bikes were badged as z1000 but in the US the were badged as Kz1000 so this is how I know them

A few of my mates had the Z1R MKII's which were black with the larger fuel tank, and inner fairing dash with a four into two exhaust, and they were a beautiful motorcycle for the time, totally get not riding yours on salty roads! My Rickman Z900 will never even see a wet road. @@wastingmymoneyonmotorcycles

snow is great, but all that salt on the roads.......ruins all the beautifull chrome. My bike also sleeps and sleeps.....
