Jewels and Gem was one of only two palettes I purchased last year, soooo good! I love the indie formula, but the colors are typically too bright for me. I hope they come out with more of these interesting/shifty neutral palettes.
Like many, i was disappointed when PML launched the mothership XI. As a fan and as a Mothership collector, i purchased it. I can't believe i actually liked it and its so flattering on my brown eyes that it was my most complimented looks. So, it is my absolute favorite of the year.
😂 yeaaaah , i purchased the mothership Xl and I absolutely not regrets, is so beautiful, since I’m not interested on having all the palettes on the market , I don’t have problem with the color story is beautiful and the looks with it are so magical , sultry and glam ! Maybe something about the color story undertone ? I don’t know but I love this palette
I've never been someone who needed a Natasha Denona palette. When I looked at her past palettes, I thought they were nice but didn't really speak to me, until her My Dreams palette. I liked that one. But then, she released the I Need A Nude palette. OMG! This one spoke to my heart. It's so me. I love it. It's the first one that I paid full price. My other favorites are Odens Eye Jewels and Gem, Nomad Ghost Town, Odens Eye Flora Story, Lunar Beauty x Laura Lee Fool Fantasy. Was the ColourPop Aurora Struck and Glamlite Rick and Morty palettes this year or last year? They are good regardless. A lot of my all time favorites are from previous years. You should do a top 25 best palettes of all time.
Obvi YSL Babylone Roses and Stora Dolls made your list (mine too.) For me personally, my #1 of 2023 would be the Cle De Peau quads, especially Ocean Sunrise.
I’m quite surprised that Danessa Myricks wasn’t on your list. I get that it’s not a stand alone palette, but it’s a palette that elevates looks like no other palette can. I guessed your number one palette correctly🥳! Thank you so much for all of your hard work! For always making good and entertaining videos packed with all of the new products. I truly appreciate you! 💕
I never got a Natasha Denona palette until this year. I saw Yucca (it is pronounced Yuck-ah lol) and needed it! But then she released I Need A Nude and there was no way I was passing it up!
🎉 ND INAN, Ta MD III, & Mario Ethereal (from 2022, still lovee), plus HG Jelly & Leopard, are not just 2023 favs but some if my faves ever! I do still love ND Retro & Dream & my PML Motherships, tho I've held off on XI. Hope the rumour is true that we're getting ND Golden, Brune, &/or Taupey Midi's next year! Thanks for your hard work & amazing videos Morgan & Jose! 🎊
Just fyi there were a lot of indie palettes released this year! I was overwhelmed. You keep saying there were not a lot this year but I’m guessing you are referring more to the mainstream market/ consumers and the gen z trends of more minimal makeup? I’m personally still very much into palettes, especially indie quality and textures
I need a nude unfortunately did not work for me personally, but I think it has to do with skin tone. Huda’s Pretty Grunge is probably my favorite this year.

I do think the satin matte formule is especially nice for more mature eyelids like me.

And PML mothership XI ranked really high on my list. Omg the undertones of the shadows in this palette are perfect for my medium neutral leaning warm skin. 🩷🩷🩷
I predicted the ND I need a Nude palette, I definitely knew that would be in your top 10 if not number one. My number one this year was the ABH Cosmos palette
I used to buy a lot from Natasha Denona and Viseart. As I discovered the use of Carmine (smashed beatles) I stopped. I know ND Yucca Palette doesn't has carmine, but they are not my greens. I loved the ND Safari (blue toned greens). Now, I am in love with Sydney Grace Glitzy Fritzy palette. So good!
I agree completely that carmine can not be considered cruelty free, but as an art conservationist I just want to clarify that the pigment of carmine is a protective dye released by the beetles when they’re touched. They lay eggs on a prickly pear leaf in a fluffy white substance, harvesters of the dye scrape the substance around the egg sacs to cause the dye be emitted. Sorry, I find pigment origins interesting, I’ll see myself out😅
I agree with you. Up until now, personally I think Natasha Denona is one of the best formula wise. I made the mistake of getting a Natasha Denona pastel palette; I got the urge to get pastels to at least try some color. I never use it now LOL. What I should have went for was a nude palette.... Anyway. I treated myself to the pretty grungy palette from Huda out of the blue. Y'know, I don't like glitter fallout, and huda generally has that. However I kept trying the palette and I have found ways to make it work and now I love that palette as well. NEXT TIME THOUGH: I will get a nude Natasha denona palette to make things easier for myself. Or maybe even an all mattes or something.
I guessed Natasha Denona's I Need a Nude palette! I love ND eye shadows, Dream is my favorite though! Glad Pat McGraft made the list, I see lots of folks wearing pink 💘eye shadows. I love Danessa Myricks Lightwork "I Am" palette! Adept, Ensley Reine and Bella Beaute Bar took all my money 💸💰this year. I really enjoyed all the ranking videos❣!!!
What are your thoughts on the YSL mini clutch palette in Kasbah Spices? That was one of the ones I was most interested in besides Stora Dolls but am on the fence about picking that one up
Yes to Natasha Denona I Need a Nude! I Love those YSL palettes especially 100 and 400 but the quality control is atrocious. 3 out of the 5 I ordered had eyeshadows popping out and the whole tray came off on one of them. Luckily I was able to get them replaced but I almost gave up on owning them. I would say the Patrick Ta All Matte palette Major Dimensions is comparable to Danessa Myricks Groundwork palette. Great ranking. ❤
I have the Stone and Rock palette and the ND I Need a Nude and they are definitely in my top 10 too!! It felt like this year was an Indie palette year with releases faster than I could even count. I had to take a step back and just stop or I would have had twice as many palettes. Very happy to see brands like Colourpop slow it down on the releases!!
Thanks Morgan!! I have all but the YSL. Yucca is my fav but it's so hard to chose. I need a nude is best for casual everyday, i find. Adept killed it this year too! Nobody is surprised that the C.T didnt rank, right?? Ugh so much to say. You need interactive option to only me. JK 😢 appreciate all your hard work and value your opinions! Much love💋💚
thank you Morgan! You are the best! Question: would you be open to share how much you spent on makeup this year? (i know you did that a few years ago. it there are many people who take offence about this, I dont want to put you through struggle, but I would be curious to know. 💖 Still, no pressure. love you!!)
@@MorganTurnerMakeup thanks for letting me know Morgan - fair enough. I was going backwards and forwards trying to work out if I missed it! Edit: it might help also to either mention or add a comment below in next year’s ranking (if the same happens) as there seems to be a few questions on Indi palettes.
Me too. I struggle with I need a nude. So far it is my biggest disappointment. I need much more pigment for my face. In the opposite, I loved the YSL, all of them.
I have stopped using shimmers this past year. The Patrick Ta MD3 is my absolute favorite palette. It is boring lol, but its perfect for the looks I have been into. Great formula, blends so effortless. This now is used as much as my tartelette and Tarte in bloom
I think the YSL palettes are lacking variety in the sense that within its 4 shades, there's not enough contrast. Also all the designer make up like YSL, Dior, Gucci do very save color stories. Quality wise I prefer good indie brands and is always great to support small companies. From ND love every single one that I own.
I also love having a pigmented matte white in a palette!!! What other budget friendly single matte whites could you recommend? The coloupop one isn't pigmented at all. I've just been relying on the discontinued (but I stocked up) Meet Matte Nude palette by theBalm for the white...
I can't really say what was the best palette I got this year because I mainly got older ones. And I was so hyped up for the cool tone trend at some point just to end up looking DEAD. I still kept the new Sultry. I dont know why, too 😅
Two of my favorite palettes from this year were from Sydney Grace, The Blessed palette and Love's Journey (I forget when Loves Journey came out). Maybe I missed it but I didn't see either of them on any of your rankings?
I guessed all of them right 🥰🥰 for me my absolute favorite is makeupbymario ethereal eyes palette and ND i need a nude, as well I tried charlotte tilbury quads this year and its sooooo good !!!
There's a 30% discount going on in Sephora these days. I'm Greek and I look best in warm tones and golds, I was considering the moonlit seduction mothership can someone help me if it's not too dark or will tick the boxes I'm looking for? ( ive ordered the cosmos abh palette already) ANY suggestions are deeply appreciated 🎉Thank you ❤🎉Love from Greece 🇬🇷 ❤🎉
What is the best shadow glitter primer? I did exactly your ND look. And the glitter was falling on my under-eyes. Would love more ND nude palette looks 'shorts'. I use an eyelid primer but need one to use just prior to putting on the glitter toppers. 🇨🇦
I had the same Problem with my first ND Palette. I gave it away. For such a price point, it should work better. I Always had glitter all over my face. That is why I am not getting the new one, despite the perfect colour story.
Viseart... I was lucky enough to buy the Paris Edit last year at a reduced price. And I like it very much, especially for travel : I have all I need for my blue eyes in a very small format (12 twelve colors in a small and solid box) Talking about Essence (your "10 worst palettes"), I have to say that I do not understand this brand (and Catrice too, the sister-brand). Both have wonderful products for foundation, blush, bronzer, powder, mascaras, but their palettes are in a range including "totally uninteresting to real disaster".. I do not know the reason because if they can produce good to veryy good make-up products, why are their eyeshadows palettes so catastrophic and I am very sorry to have to write it. But living in Europe I have been familiar with both brands for a long time and every year this same question comes back. Thanks for the video.
I knew the i need a nude would be the first I went nude crazy this year. I got the ethereal eyes, I need a nude, and beautyverse palette. Did I need another pallet? No but I got them this year.
She didn’t try the last big palette from Huda beauty? Cause I kinda wanted to hear her words on it but it seems to me that it is neither on this video neither on the two others she made about all the palettes she tried this year
Couldn’t agree more with your list! I live for ND eyeshadows and your number one has definitely been my favourite of the year and one of my faves period. I’m STILL waiting on Sephora to release the Patrick Ta matte pallet. It takes an eternity to get stuff in Australia, and if you want to buy from the brand themselves, often postage is exorbitantly expensive, commonly over $75USD to get it shipped to where I’m at in 🇦🇺(especially when you compare postage from Sephora or Mecca (don’t know if Mecca is anywhere else,I’ve never seen it in the States when I’m there; but it’s especially Sephora by another name). But love your list, loved the video of the worst pallets of ‘23, I always appreciate knowing what not to spend my money on. Hope you and your family have an awesome Christmas & New Years. Can’t wait to watch all of your content in the new year. Thanks for making such informative, creative and fun content for everyone. All of your effort is greatly appreciated 😊💙🇦🇺
The red PM shade does not work, which is so sad. But I got the pallet for 70$. Otherwise loving it, but wish there was also a shimmer gold instead of just the sparkle gold.
I regret buying the Natasha D nudes palette. I don’t get much pigment and pay off from that and the textures are not very flattering. Idk why this palette was so popular. Hopefully I can learn to love it. I would have bought a YSL palette instead after watching this for the Sephora sale if only I’d have known.
I thought Odens Eye Stone and Rock was very powdery and was very difficult to build color compared to the other one. The Natasha Denona Nude was very disappointing 😞. Felt like the shades were way too similar, and the shimmers were just ok.
I never hear anyone talk about -Julia’s- JUVIA’s place any more. What happened? For me their quality is up there with Natasha Denona, Pat McGrath, visiart etc Edit autocorrect changed juvia to julia so I fixed it
I did think INAN would be No1! I agree its so beautiful! It's INAN and Xenon for me right now-and Lunar Nightshade from PM-that is beautiful! Something is going on with my eyelids though and eyeshadow is suddenly not sticking like it usually does….I love these videos-thank you!
Abh Sultry did not make my top ten considering I forgot about it. I can’t put Pat McGrath in my top ten considering it is a repetitive color story with a dud shade. You’re better off buying a different palette from her current line.
I was curious about your ranking for Huda Cool Matte but I think you forgot about it... you mentioned it when you spoke about warm mattes. Anyway it's a beautiful palette.
Jewels and Gem was one of only two palettes I purchased last year, soooo good! I love the indie formula, but the colors are typically too bright for me. I hope they come out with more of these interesting/shifty neutral palettes.

And I like it very much, especially for travel : I have all I need for my blue eyes in a very small format (12 twelve colors in a small and solid box)
Talking about Essence (your "10 worst palettes"), I have to say that I do not understand this brand (and Catrice too, the sister-brand).
I haven’t watched yet, Patrick Ta 3 and ND I need a nude, I can’t even think of other releases. 🤦🏼♀️
Woo!!! I was right for both number 1 and the worst!
I want everything. Makeup is my life bloof
Hello beautiful Morgan 😍
💯 agree on #1!!
I immediately guessed the 1st place
Yes!! #1 is ND “I need a nude” this is my favourite as well. #2 is……. “Xenon” palette of my beloved Natasha 😁. Cannot fixed myself. 😉🙌
I have Circo loco and zendo (both on sale as a pair for
I guessed the palette you would pick for your #1. 😊🤣
I love Viseart but all 7 of my pallets molded within 6 months… So sad….. 😢
What??? That’s wierd..they are a generally drier formula. Definitely let the brand know and send the batch number
The red PM shade does not work, which is so sad. But I got the pallet for 70$. Otherwise loving it, but wish there was also a shimmer gold instead of just the sparkle gold.
Obsessed with the Patrick Ta mattes. Use it every day as a base to contour the eye and the cream for my eyeliner.
What happened to the dominique cosmetics essential palette?? I don't think you put it in the raking.
Omg I forgot it somehow 😅😅 I think I pulled it for a different video and must’ve forgot the put it back in my rankings pile
didn't you miss the cool toned obsessions matte palette by huda?
If I did…you’re not supposed to mention it 😂😂😂 I thought I had them all but it’s very easy to accidentally leave some oht
@@MorganTurnerMakeup hahaha I'm sorry🤣🤣 I was so curious where you would rank it since I love it! but it's totally fine don't worry☺️
I thought Odens Eye Stone and Rock was very powdery and was very difficult to build color compared to the other one. The Natasha Denona Nude was very disappointing 😞. Felt like the shades were way too similar, and the shimmers were just ok.
Ahhh oh no!! Sorry the didn’t work out for you!!
I never hear anyone talk about -Julia’s- JUVIA’s place any more. What happened? For me their quality is up there with Natasha Denona, Pat McGrath, visiart etc
Edit autocorrect changed juvia to julia so I fixed it
I did think INAN would be No1! I agree its so beautiful! It's INAN and Xenon for me right now-and Lunar Nightshade from PM-that is beautiful! Something is going on with my eyelids though and eyeshadow is suddenly not sticking like it usually does….I love these videos-thank you!
I guessed 1-2 correctly but I thought ND Yucca palette would be 4. I was completely thrown off with the YSL quad.
Yayy I gueessed right. I was hoping it was I Need a Nude. I have it and it's the best palette I ever had.
One hundie knew INaN would be #1.😊
You've been into less eyeshadows?😅 Ranking 86 or more (?) palettes🔥
Abh Sultry did not make my top ten considering I forgot about it. I can’t put Pat McGrath in my top ten considering it is a repetitive color story with a dud shade. You’re better off buying a different palette from her current line.
I was curious about your ranking for Huda Cool Matte but I think you forgot about it... you mentioned it when you spoke about warm mattes. Anyway it's a beautiful palette.
Omg I must’ve forgot to put it in. I rank them about the same!! Such good quality, just depends if I’m in a warm or purple mood that day!
