Do not label the Council of the EU as European Council, because it provokes confusion. The European Council is a totally different organisation within the EU. Although, you can call the first one just "The Council" .

European Council, Council of Minsters of the European Union and Council of Europe (not part of the EU, I know).. You'd have thought they could differentiate these institutions a little better..
