It's more personal this way too. He's making a human connection more direct, from his basement to our screens without producers and stage crews or any of that going on inbetween. It's more genuine. Anyone can pull up their weather app's on their phone and talk about what their phone tells them to think. Ryan here, is actually presenting the weather to us with all kinds of wonderful maps, he's energetic, engaged, and he's not messing around when this weather gets dangerous for life on the ground. I deem him a friend to humanity. Not all channels are friends to humanity.

Ryan, I have a terrible fear of tornadoes, having lived near Xenia, Oh in during the ‘74 outbreak. Im in my 50’s and still have bad storm anxiety. I’m now in Bethpage, TN and I just have to thank you for all you do to keep so many people informed, safe and calm. So many times the weather people get over-excited, which translates to increased anxiety for me. Your constant vigilance and calm attitude helps keep me out of the crazy anxiety and able to think calmly myself so I can make rational decisions during dangerous times. When my family went to bed the other nite, I joked that I was “going to work”, watching the weather so I could help keep those I care about, and myself reasonably safe. Local networks don’t broadcast 14 hours straight. And they don’t broadcast local weather for my family in Ohio. I can watch you and know I’ve got everybody in harms way covered, from middle Tennessee to the Ohio valley. You’ve changed the way I experience these bad weather events. Ive now got my “aunt in law” hooked on your channel too, as she also has storm anxiety. You’re doing God’s work ( and I’m not too religious) and you’re saving lives. But I think you got your wings during this last outbreak. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Hey Charlotte, where where you at during the Xenia tornado? I’m also from the area and in my mid 50s now so we were close to the same age. We were never allowed to watch TV growing up so we knew something bad was happening when mom rounded us up to gather round the tv to watch the coverage of the approaching storm and reason we were so terrified was dad was in Xenia that day working and was smack dab in the center of it! Of course you know that back then we didn’t have cell phones and you either had to find a phone at someone’s home, a store or business, or a pay phone but all of the phone lines were down so there was zero communication from dad for a couple days while he was dug out and the car was destroyed, but he was ok but was a very stressful time in our lives.
We lived in West Milton, which was a tiny town about 30 miles north of Dayton and about 8 miles east of Troy and Tipp City if any of those ring a bell to ya. My grandma on dads side lived in Huber Heights which is directly north of Xenia maybe 30 miles or so but dad was a Regional Manager for the Dayton Daily News at the time and he happened to be filling in for a carrier that day on a large route in Xenia and he was doing the old paper boxes that were at gas stations, grocery stores , on street corners etc and he said the tornado literally fell from the sky on an otherwise calm spring afternoon and he had less than two minutes before the beast was leveling everything in sight.
That storm didn’t leave me terrified of these horrendous beasts but left me curious and hungry to see what my dad saw right before he dove for cover in a gas station that was toppled around him. Every tornado I’ve been thru since, I’m always the last to take cover. I can’t seem to pull myself away from the sight of such a powerful creation.
I now live in NC, but still have a brother in Columbus and a sister that moved back to Dayton several years ago to be close to mom but we lost her this past June due to the Moderna Vaccine. So now both mom and dad are gone, Xenia has pretty much recovered and rebuilt, life goes on and there’s not much left to cause my return other than a ton of memories, some worth revisiting, many are not, so just like in Xenia, no matter where we are, life will go on!!
I hope you take care, stay safe, and have a Merry Christmas!!

manipulated by low intelligence. Where's the faith people? You want rain, dance and sing for rain, you want warm, dance and sing for sun, you want snow, just ask for it. No need to spray it on. No need to turn on microwave machines and zap the ionosphere to death. Tune into the Earth. Ask Jesus' permission first if you must, he'll tell you it's awesome, plant some seeds, get your hands INTO your soil... nurture the soil, add to it, make it healthy and good for roots. Then learn to listen to the world and what it's needs are. Then gift to it what you can. That is the purpose of humanity on Earth. Anything else, is our ego telling us otherwise.

But we are ok and my husband made it home about 20 mins before the sirens went off, as he was driving home from Eau Claire Wis which also ended up getting hit. In 1978 in massive storm like that. The eye passed over Detroit Metro airport. I think is still lowest recorded barometer reading for that airport. A lot like a land based hurricane.
2 plus inches of ice followed by 28 inches of snow 30F+ degree temperature change. It started raining. It rained a lot. Some places got 8 inches of rain 1st that were closer to Lake Michigan.
    I remember all of it.
By the time it got to Detroit the temp dropped and got lots of ice then a big pile snow on top of that and 60-70 MPH winds.
I guess I had better top off my generator. I also remember the power going out. Then sitting in the car to warmup the next day.
Yep the white hurricane of 78. About the same today as the day before that one. It is 48F here.

I plow snow in western NY for residential customers. Our news reporting has diminished to be 90% un reliable. The last big storm last year they said it would be 6 inches I went out and plowed came home went to bed and woke up 6 hours later to a full vm and over 3 more feet outside. This year they keep saying snow and it doesn't. I'm subscribed and hoping you keep western NY updated. You said 160k subs I am seeing 218k 2 days later. Congratulations! You deserve it! 👏

I live in California, It's that big bent piece of land that is between the Pacific ocean and the rest of the U.S. and there are two more places above the piece of land that I just mentioned and they are called Oregon and Washington. We really do exist and we can have some really awful weather up here in northern calif. I live at 3000 feet in the foothills of a mountain range called the Sierra Nevada. Perhaps the eastern U.S. is waiting for snow, but overnight I received 12 inches of snow - I think I saw those colors on one of your maps as I watched today from start to finish to learn what I could expect for the next few days. My hoop house was torn apart apart, my neighbor's fence was destroyed, limbs were ripped down and that was just what I could see just from my yard. This seemed like bad winter weather to me and it should continue for the next 10 or 12 days.
WHY does no one seem to give more detail for coming west coast weather on the really excellent weather stations like yours?????????
