I love the style of your videos, you get right to showing us what you have made rather than being so wordy. You have beautiful style. I have started wearing more skirts and dresses and it makes me feel good.
Just so beautiful and elegant. All your makes are so perfect for summer weather and it is so hard to chose a favorite, but I particularly like the Naomi Ito Gauze Lottie and the black Ramie dress. I enjoy the format of your videos and how you present the makes - you are my favorite online sewist! You are very inspirational, Thank you for sharing and the inspiration. 💕🥰
Love all of these! I will definitely try the seamwork pattern. I have the Donovan purchased but have not yet found the right fabric. Seeing it again re-inspires me. I've never sewn with Ramie but am intrigued. Thanks for taking the time to share your makes. I'm headed into my sewing space tomorrow for a full day of sewing and appreciate the inspo!
The stripes on that last dress are so beautiful, the way you’ve lined them up - oh my goodness! I love how elegant and intentional you are Sarah; I love that you wear what you make and even some of your clothes become so worn out you have to mend them! I think that’s so inspiring! I also adore that blouse you’re wearing, such a classic elegant neckline and sleeves ❤
Thank you!! The blouse I'm wearing in the video is actually a dress - it's the Sew Over It Penny dress that I made in a dotted cotton a few years ago 😊
Such a great selection of very wearable outfits , which suit you so well. I have several tried and trusted favourites which include the Ruby Skirt ,a free pattern from Sew Over It and The Montana dress from Style Arc. This year the summer here in the UK has been virtually non existent ( until now ), I have the Lottie dress pattern, and you have inspired me to make it, so if the sun continues to shine I will give it a go .Thank you Naomi, I very much enjoy your videos .
Thank you for your comment! I've been meaning to try the Ruby skirt from Sew Over It (now I'm extra inspired!) and the Montana dress looks like such a satisfying dress to make and wear with such simple, classic lines and a loose, flowy silhouette. I'll have to try them both some day! And I hope that the sun keeps shining in the UK, there's nothing like the summer sun to boost spirits 😊
Such a gorgeous selection of outfits that all look wonderful on you. My favourite combination is the Brené top and Annette skirt, as I love that pretty print paired with the soft green skirt. Breezy soft summer perfection.
The thought of taping together a pattern just seems so exhausting, but I'm going to do it. I love that Helen's Closet skirt. Time to try a PDF pattern. A skirt shouldn't be THAT bad. Thank you, Sarah!!
Haha, I understand! I actually prefer PDF patterns because I know I can reprint them and make all the sizes if I want to, but it's true that cutting them out and sticking them together take time. In my opinion, the Donovan skirt is totally worth it!
Gorgeous makes Sarah. I love that you have older items in your rotation. I'm very envious of your Donovan skirt - excellent pairing of fabric and pattern.
Such lovely makes, I really adore your style. The mix of prints and plains is so well balanced and very inspiring! And I really appreciate that you still reach for older items so frequently. It's easy to forget them as soon as a new shiny pattern comes out!
Stunning makes as always ❤ I really love all your beautiful skirts and you almost make me want to sew the Republique du Chiffon skirt and being bilingual is the absolute best for sure 😊 double the amount of patterns for us 😁😍! But then it also meant that I wanted to make videos in french and english so twice as much work and not gonna lie I probably should have chosen one language 😅😂
Yes, double the patterns! 😂 Wow, videos in two languages is quite the task! I was tempted too, but then when I realized each video takes about 15-20 hours to make on average, that idea was quickly scrapped and I haven't looked back 🤣
Thanks for these types of videos! Outfits are always inspiring (and enabling, lol). In fact, I want your entire wardrobe, ! 😅😂 can you please share what type of buttons are used on your black ramie dress? I’m do not have a black summer dress, and mostly, I see white buttons down the front on ready to wear for black linen, for example. Your buttons look black or dark, or self covered or ? Can you please share what you used, as I think you made a perfect subtle pairing! Thank you! ❤ Suzanne
Thank you for your encouraging comment, I'm glad you like these kinds of videos (and the buttons)! For the black ramie dress, I used black mother-of-pearl buttons with 2 holes rather than 4 that I think I purchased (if I remember correctly) from the Mercerie de Charonne here in Paris. I hope that helps!
This video just came up in the feed. I'm so happy so I had to subscribe. I love everyone of the outfits especially, the black ramie. Even though I'm 73 & no longer have the figure for these styles, I can reminisce & dream. Tyfs dear soul! You are a blessing!😊
Hi sweety, I have watched your videos since you started your sewing journey and I'm very proud of you and your progress! I love everything but specially the dress with stripes, wow it's so pretty and you look so cute💟Love from USA
What a lovely video, thank you so much for sharing these outfits! You truly have an amazing, classic and chic style that came through in every item ❤❤❤
Your style and clothes are so lovely, Sarah; I am thankful you share with us. You're so smart to use your patterns over and over. Only within recent years (after decades of sewing) have I learned how to properly alter patterns to fit me well, so I have made several versions of them. I am enjoying that so much more than hopping from pattern to pattern to find the elusive fit. Thank you for your videos.
So beautiful outfits! And very versatile as well as you can mix and match and add a cardigan when it’s a bit cooler. My without a doubt most worn garments in the summer are my sleeveless A-line dresses with buttons all the way in the front. I have made several in different cotton and linen fabrics, some as patchworks, some plain with appliques, and the all have patch pockets. In the cooler months I wear them as long vest or as a pinafore dress. The pattern is actually a top that I just lengthened and made A-lined and added the button placket and pockets. It’s an old Burda not in production anymore, but Helen’s Closet has a similar pattern, think it’s called the ”Ashton top”.
Lovely video! All of these suit you and your style so well. 😊 My favourite is not very original: the Ogden cami. I’m currently “winging” it into a simple elasticated waist dress and also want to try the “elasticated waistline”-top-hack and maybe try to make a square neckline version🙂. Other than that the “sewmag” Sabrina dress (it’s a free, princess seamed, sleeveless dress pattern). I made one version in a viscose print and one colour blocked version in a viscose-linen blend with a tiered skirt ☺️. In case anyone wants to try it: for me the bust shaping works out quite well, but I think if it doesn’t fit you well, it would look weird, so I’d recommend making a toile before 🙂
Hello Sarah, I just stumbled upon your channel and I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your videos! You are so talented designing and making your own outfits, all your dresses and skirts and tops are so beautiful! I especially enjoy your full screen modeling of your outfits (pls keep doing that😊) , they all look gorgeous on you! Thank you for your lovely work!
Thank you so much and I'm glad you appreciate the full-length views! They're quite hard to film in my little space, but I find it so helpful to see because it's easier to get a sense of the final silhouette and proportions of a garment or outfit and I wanted to offer the same here!
Came back to this video just now, as I brought a lovely double gauze muslin. It’s white with sage green foliage and soft yellow-y golden flowers. And I knew you’d give great inspiration for what to do with it. The first top will be my pick for my new fabric!
I have been wanting to get back to more solids and classic fabric patterns and you've definitely inspired me! They always feel so boring to make, but they never look boring when worn! I love all of these pieces! 😍
This video is pure magic! ✨ Being a sewing aficionado, I’m always on the lookout for new techniques and imaginative projects. The sewing universe is full of surprises! 🎉🪡
Hi Sarah, I just found your channel and really enjoy it. I love your style and the way you look so elegant in all of your clothing! 😊 Would you mind sharing how tall you are? I've decided you must be at least 5'6" or possibly taller, but I'm just guessing! Also, have you heard of Kibbe body types, and are you guided at all by those? By learning my type, I now know why certain clothes don't work on my frame. Thanks for sharing your sewing projects!
Hello, I'm so glad you enjoy these videos and thank you! I'm 5'5" and I've heard of the Kibbe body types, but I don't know them very well at all. I'm glad it helped you figure out what you like to wear!
Gorgeous outfits, congrats! However, what I'm most curious about is the dotted shirt you're wearing. If it was made by you, and it's possible, could you please share the pattern? Thanks in advance and happy sewing!
Please, teach us how to make the black dress. Your dresses are so beautiful so is your style. I would love to learn to make that black dress. Or one of those lovely skirt. Thank you. 😊
Hello and thank you for the suggestion. I don’t have plans to make another Seren dress at this time, but I highly recommend trying it out on your own - Tilly and the Buttons patterns are really well designed, easy to follow, and they have lots of free sewing resources on their website to help you along. You can do it!
Hi Sarah - I just discovered a pattern company (Just Patterns) with some styles I thought would really appeal to you. Specifically, their Ines dress struck me as one you would really like. Have fun!
Hi, I love the perfect tailored waist look of for example the black dress you showed, however I love to eat and since I’m pretty petite maybe even more so than you, my stomach just bulges when I indulge in yummy yums! lol! I have started wearing more skirts for this reason that when they’re high waisted I can pull them higher when I’m sitting down LOL. I know it’s a funny problem. what is the best way to sew dresses and skirts that are adjustable a little bit to be able to loosen them just a lil bit. I tried elastic and it still pushes on my stomach sometimes.
Lol, I often have the same thoughts! My tummy bulges when I eat too and the Helen's Closet Donovan skirt is just perfect for staying comfortable while sitting!
😂 ...In Switzerland the summer was so rainy and there was a lot of flooding. I should create rubber boots and raincoats and not dream about summer dresses 🫣 🥰
I wanted to read the book list u suggested but I not can't find the list! Can u provide the video or link? I have been searching and pulling my hair out with no success! Thanks
I mentioned my favorite books read in 2023 in my video Top Makes of 2023 ✨|Sewing & Knitting (th-cam.com/video/jGd0L0ThpoA/w-d-xo.html) and I linked all the books in the description below that video. I hope that helps!

Congratulations. Every garment is beautiful.
Thanks, Sarah! You inspired me to make little summer tops instead of wearing baggy t shirts all the time.
I'm so glad! 😊

Lovely collection. My favourite is the candy stripe Seren and the Ose top.

Yes, it's a great pattern! This is actually my second one in a white linen, my sister saw my first one and had to have it! 😂
They all look so beautiful and comfortable.
From the USA. You are a wonderful seamstress. You have given such good ideas for lothes to wear in warm weather.
