Public participation is a waste of time..just for show . Only for executive to control the outcome via parliament.

This defeatist mentality is the reason we are here in the first place, we should make our voices heard so that we can actually hold them accountable to the views we've given. The current lot are depending on this mentality so that they can say that Kenyans were not against the bill

America imposed taxation policies through Zakayo is simply hurting Kenyans for good! Please Kenyans let's abandoned ruto for the best interest of ourselves instead of his own selfish ambitious appetite!

Retune, public participation & changing nothing? Sakayo will say he is the budget, & we must pay.

    Good discussion Sam.
Hon. Mbadi gets it right in the proposed 2024-25 Taxation Bill. It’s bad idea to levy taxes on consumer goods such as, bread, diapers, cooking oils, toilet tissues, school supplies, medicines, etc. These items are essential for the survival of the ordinary Kenyans.
No country can grow its economy on taxes alone.
Kenya’s economy depends heavily on Agriculture, horticulture, tourism and some manufacturing industries. I would suggest that the Government think of innovative ways of providing Tax free durations for the local startup small businesses, local manufacturing outfits, AI and Web based service creations, etc. These types of businesses should be protected from outside competition until they become profitable, strong and secure. Such items that support food security such as fertilizers, animal feeds, any health care products, should be Tax free.
Kenya needs a healthy productive population. The people cannot be productive when their health and energy are low.

What a pity that petty political games pitting the VP vs the president is the only hope we have for the people Kenyans chose to represent them to actually do their job, and not just rubber stamp whatever Nabii wants.

Let opposition bring their budget proposal to parliament then they compare which one is fair for Kenyans and vote for it put aside politics

How many decades after promulgation of the 2010 constitution will it take you to know that there is no opposition in Kenya? We are under a Presidential system in which there is only one budget drafted by the Executive to be approved or rejected by the Legislature, COLLECTIVELY oversighting the Executive? There is no opposition in Kenya and there isn't supposed to be any.

Those taxes will never spur economic growth. To the contrary, they discourage businesses and will lead to a shrinkage of the economy.
