    I keep breaking my glasses so naturally im gonna print a new frame and reuse my lenses for the rest of my life

    Hoya has Yuniku, which has been producing vision-centric, tailor-made 3D printed frames made of polyamide since 2017.

      Yeah, and we almost invested in it. Unfortunately the concept was great but not the execution. Discontinued now I believe

    Those 3D printed frames look so cool 😎 Light, comfortable and great colours produced in eco friendly way must be a winner in the future. I’m surprised they haven’t really taken off yet? Why aren’t we all buying them now? I’m willing to try a pair especially the one you were wearing Rob. 👍

      I'm not sure why they haven't taken off yet. The eyewear industry is so slow and stuck in its ways. I get frustrated by everyone around me as I just want to drag them all forward! Opticians could be so much more.

      If you like this style I could see them as a great bolder style for you paired with PhotoFusion (no flash coating). They are a chunkier frame but the colouration stops them being too harsh.
      Then again, we have received one of the best titanium aviators I've ever seen come in recently so maybe wait until you see those (not sure when that might be)

    Your manufacturing knowledge is impressive especially for a non engineer 😘

    How do you get the lens cut to the frames then? Any videos step by step?

    eh theres not much savings i've found, never tried polyamide filament tho, i've been using pla, i'll stilll have failed prints which can pile up and also pla breaks down and will shatter when dropped, i know because i've worn them for about a few years, white and one black pla+ i've found tend to last a lot longer, and breakdown less in UV light which is a real problem if you find yourself outside a lot

    What about adjusting? Is this material easy to adjust?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, actually, which is why 3D printed frames usually have arms made from alternative materials (on these ones, it's acetate)

    Can u 3d print MARVELS EDITH GLASSES. FROM SPIDERMAN FAR FROM HOME. INSTEAD IT BEING SHADES AND MADE OUT OF METAL. Make it out of a strong filament plastic. So EYE SPECIALIST CAN REUSE THE FRAME THEY refuse when its made from metal. Because apparently metal frames only last one time. More difficult to make lenses for it. SO CAN U MAKE A PLASTIC/RUBBER VERSION OF EDITH GLASSES WITH YOUR 3D PRINTER. So I can get it tested as normal glasses. Not shades tested. Normal transition seeing lenses
