    I'm looking through the comments and I'm dissapointed that no one is commenting on Caden's 'winning' margin, the man was 14 seconds ahead of 3rd place on the same tyres, and he was well ahead of the field before Katherine White came through the pack

      just because you race in the same team as him doesn't mean you have to shove a straw up his arse and start drinking... Katherine won and that's the point of the video, she was the only one on wets and went from pretty much last place to first with a 26s gap

    So about 24's steering input at 16:13?

    • @oliverwatson6956
      @oliverwatson6956 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It’s a wet weather driving technique. I think by aggressively flicking the wheel like that you can get the back end out a little, which allows you to slide round the corner. In the wet slicks don’t really grip, so you end up having to slide the car around the corners.
      Kimi Raikkonen also uses this technique in F1, but for tyre warming.

    • @caledoniacation

      Go drive a rental kart in the wet, it works.

      @jackreoh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@oliverwatson6956 Yeah, I can see it for tyre warming, just seems that he got so little reaction out of the kart with it it made me laugh

    • @MrSpanks
      @MrSpanks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@jackreoh In order to turn in to a corner you need the front tyres to grip (obviously!). To help with this, you need to unload the inside rear tyre. (Because karts don't have a differential (solid axle) you need to unload the inside rear tyre for best cornering - If you don't, you'll tend to understeer.)
      In the wet, karts understeer A LOT so, to get front end grip, you use a combination of braking and quick steering input to help unload the inside rear. This helps prevent the rear 'pushing' the kart straight on and also reduces the grip available at the rear thereby shifting the balance away from understeer.

    Why did none of the others at the back of the field roll the dice. It's not like they had much to lose. On slicks if everything goes perfectly you can gain a dozen positions if it doesn't rain. If it rains it becomes a race between you and the other drivers with wets. If you think the chance of rain being a big factor is 1/10 it seems like a good plan.

      @Charlie Robertson I've seen many many crashes where they should have seen many many crashes where people get punted from behind and then fash head first into tyres, throwing their head back and then forward hard, leading to them being injured. At the end of the day, safety should be number 1 and there is no negative to wearing them at all.
      And stop liking your own comments its sad

    • @dannywhite132
      @dannywhite132 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Charlie Robertson thats such a retarded answer. There is no reason not to wear a neck brace other than fragile masculinity. It doesnt make any difference. If you want to train your neck, get some equipment and work out. Neck strength is barely an issue for people who have grown up in karting.

    • @dannywhite132
      @dannywhite132 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Charlie Robertson your argument is that you think motorsport should be dangerous? There is no negative to wearing a neck brace, but can save you severe neck injury.
