I have a ton of Roman Szmal watercolors already, but I have to get this set! It's a lovely selection of colors and has many of my RS favorites. I love your paintings so much! Thanks for sharing this beautiful palette with us!
Love this set! Wow. The sketchbook colour mixing wheels are perfect to show off its versatility. Inspiring. I can see landscapes, especially with the greens and neutrals. Water too with the textured blues. Roman Szmal’s “essentials” are a universe in a paint box. It’s also helpful to see the different papers to compare saturation. I wonder if RS will start producing sketchbooks as well? 🤔 Looking forward to the brush review. 🙏
You did a really informative and helpful review and I enjoyed seeing your artwork. I have some of these watercolors already but it’s so appealing to have these together in one palette. Thank you for sharing.
Oh, man. Roman Szmal has really hit the mark with our community with his paints and selections and nice, approachable behaviour. I HAVE to not get this, but RS is definitely a brand where I still feel a big itch! 😅❤
Hansa Yellow Medium (PY74) faded significantly for me when I tested for lightfastness, so I don't use it anymore. I tested from May to September in the window. I live in Germany, so not the most sunny place either. The lighter wash faded and the mass ton wash turned more orange, i.e. it darkened. I use Benzimidazolone yellow (PY154) instead, number 205 in Roman Szmal. It's not as orange leaning as PY74, but it's pretty close. Also, Roman's Szmal's Payne's Grey contains Prussian Blue (PB27), which also fades and is not a good option for anyone concerned with lightfastness. It can maybe come back if the painting is stored away in a dark space after fading, but even that is questionable if it will come back. Not many people that buy paintings would know that they have to take the picture off the wall to regain some color, nor would majority of people be interested in doing that. So if you're selling originals, be careful. If you're just painting for yourself or in a sketchbook, then lightfastness doesn't really matter.
Nice set, nice video, nice voice. 👏👏👏 I'm still awaiting the new paints to be back in stock and of course the tubes to be added to stock at last. Binge shopping ahead... Thank you for this video, I'm looking forward to the next one.
Well, my family keeps asking me what I would like for Christmas so this video is perfect! I don't need more watercolors, very happy with my Da Vinci paints, but at the same time I really love the few Roman paints I already have. Though I would probably swap out the Lavenda for my pan of Ocean Blue. And I would be curious to see how Roman Violet compares to a Caput Mortem.
Hahaha! XD There's a big difference between "needing paints" and "using paints", or "wanting paints". We technically only *need* 3-7 colors to paint everything, but that's not as much fun. So many paints are beautiful, so many colors are mesmerizing, it'd be impossible to like colors and then only stick to the most minimal of palettes. I hope you get this palette for Christmas, it's so lovely :D
Thanks for the great video! I love this palette for all the reasons you said. I wish it had been available 4 months ago when I decided to spoil myself for my birthday by splurging on RS paints for the first time. This would have been the perfect set for that! Instead I bought a different palette that was a bit too heavy with the earth tones and swapped out some extra colors. So I had to buy extra paints. Dang it! Had to buy extra paints. Oh well, c'est la vie! 😆😆😆
Haha! I love when I have to buy extra paints, to be honest. Perfect excuse 😆 I'm curious, which palette did you get? And which extra colors? If you remember, of course :)
that's a really lovely set. it has some overlapping colours with the other sets (die to them being essential for versatile mixing), but it does have enough unique choices to make it look different than the Mona Omrani set for example. It's a good essential set and I like that he didn't put in a black...not because I don't like black paint, but because it's a colour that's easy to mix.
This would be a perfect set for someone moving from student to professional grade paint. I absolutely love my Roman Szmal watercolours, been using them for a couple of years now, and I honestly can’t see myself buying any other brands in the future.

Gorgeous paints 🎨
I really like your moody painting
Thank you so much! :D
This is such a wonderful, comprehensive set of paints! Thanks for the closer look at it!

Thanks for the information!
Such a huge palette! I'm really happy for seeing the yellow paints! :D

Haha Eve do you have time off😂 you are pumping out video's!! Not a complaint btw
My thought was: Quite productive...no complaint at all.😁
Amazing set. But why don’t you record the painting being done with the wayercolors and the brushes?
Finally, a RS set that's perfect for me. Too bad I'm broke lol.
