    Can you please confirm my understanding that faults "Close to Generator" & " Far from Generator" would be decided by the ETAP software as an inbuilt function of ETAP?

    • @PowerProjects_etap
      @PowerProjects_etap  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All equipments in Power system offers constant impedance during the fault except generator which has time varying impedance (Xd", Xd' & Xd). If you provide correct values of these parameters along with their time constant Td0" & Td0' you will get the proper results in all simulation softwares

    In my short circuit report from ETAP,
    Making capacity of device > ip (calculated)
    Ib sym of device > Ib sym (calculated)
    Ib asym of device > Ib asym (calculated)
    Idc < Idc (calculated) -- shows alert
    I think since the calculated "Ib asym" includes the decaying dc component, I can ignore the device Idc being less than Idc(calculated) or Should I replace the breaker with higher rating or ask the manufacturer to provide higher time constant breakers

    • @PowerProjects_etap
      @PowerProjects_etap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to look at the DC Breaking capacity of the breaker at the instant of breaker opening (Not at t=0) Still if DC current is more either you have to replace the breaker or intentionally delay the breaker for one or two cycles.

    Is there any paper or journal which clearly differentiate between IEEE and IEC standard for Short Circuit Study of Power system? So, someone who is working with ANSI system, these lectures will be more helpful to them as well.

    How to choose IDC for 220 kv

    • @PowerProjects_etap

      While performing Short circuit studies, you will get
      Ibsym
      Idc
      Ibasym
      ip
      Choose the breaker capacity in such a way that the breaker is capable of interrupting Idc

    Sir, If there is a Star-Star Transformer with both side NGR connected.
    Will an earth fault at say LV side be affected by HV side NGR.

    • @PowerProjects_etap
      @PowerProjects_etap  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the NGR Value. If the NGR on HV side limits the fault current less than the current limited by LV NGR then it may have an impact. In general we may not have such scenario in real time.
