I don't care what the BMW "enthusiasts" say, the new M135i is a foocking brilliant car. Forget RWD. Forget M140i 6CYL. This new platform is IMPRESSIVE. If you're a nerd, read into the new ARB Traction System that it uses. BMW took the electrical stability system from the BMW i3 and repurposed it for the M135i. Simply put, it uses a traction control system quick enough to react to electric power... so yeah, it's pretty clever
The M135i stops at 2018 for me, and pre lci being my preference. I think the latest one looks like a Ford Focus, which is ok but not for me. Plus the engine is way too small
300+ bhp Rear wheel cars and UK winters don't go together... I've seen it plenty of times with the old M135/m140i's lying all over the place, I wouldn't touch them plus they look absolutely awful, look like an old shoe or a rollerskate
Neither. Why pay 10k more for the same as a golf r? just buy the R if thats what you want. the BMW isnt as good as a 140, the A35 isnt as good as the 45, but both cost more than competitors
It's supposed to double as a daily but give you nice performance as well whilst remaining fuel efficient, whereas the old car was all about performance hence the 3L B58 engine which guzzles
I've gone from a Golf 7R to an M235i GC, its a step up in my opinion, build quality, the feel of the drive, the lack of the stupid child like pops and farts. The only thing thats a tiny let down is the lack of full DSG box. As long as you're not a traffic light warrior you wont miss that in daily driving. Most people who comment on these videos have never had either.
Pick my M135 up in March. I’ve had the 140 for the last 4 years so I’m looking forward to a more “modern” car. That 135 looks too “chavvy” with those added bits for me. Ok if you are 10...
Two of the most boring car colours money can buy. What is it with people nowadays, grey, grey, grey, black, grey, black, oooh white, black, grey ..... Boring.
What is so impressive about the Merc interior? I don't get it? One big screen which would drive me crazy with dust, finger marks etc. And most journalist's say the actual build quality isn't that good, that it feels quite cheap? I get it's personal preference, but really don't see the pull. M135i has grown on me, but still not keen on the front!
Yeah I was like that initially, but when you sit in it. Each time you sit inside it, it’s the most refreshing thing and never gets boring. The touch screen is barely used so no worries about finger marks. Majority uses the touch pad on centre console which is is much easier. Its a sturdy interior but the gloss plastic can feel cheap/ get dusty quick, so always carry a microfibre cloth. Btw I’ve had mine for 1 yr and 3 month
The M135i is actually faster in a drag race than the A35, off course car's should not ve judged by their 0-60 or 1/4 mile races, but just saying. The back of the A35 doesn't do it for me, prefer the rear of the M135i by far. Re interior, it's too busy in the A35.
That Mercedes colour would be an absolute nightmare for a body shop to repair. Seen it in the flesh and looks the same colour as an Abrahms tank. Seen the colour on standard A class and I have a yellow A35 in street next to mine which looks like a plate of custard. I'd be choosing the BMW over the Merc. Too many horror stories with engine problems on the latter.

If you're a nerd, read into the new ARB Traction System that it uses. BMW took the electrical stability system from the BMW i3 and repurposed it for the M135i. Simply put, it uses a traction control system quick enough to react to electric power... so yeah, it's pretty clever
Did you just say they use tech from an i3 ..
@@OA-nc2fc It’s not as awful as it sounds. Read into it
The M135i stops at 2018 for me, and pre lci being my preference.
@@SonicTheLedge opinions mate. My M135i was 430bhp and never had a problem
Neither, save your self a lot of money and get a M140i
And then learn to drive it before you write it off going round a bend ☺️☺️
The a35 looks better and has the better gearbox, it’s a shame bmw don’t use the zf.
A class front headlights look terrible. 1 series could now be a kia if there was no badge.
Is the merc exhaust standard 🤔🤷🏾♂️
A35 AMG looks so much better both interior and exterior ✌️
A35 🔥🔥🔥😍
Neither. Why pay 10k more for the same as a golf r? just buy the R if thats what you want. the BMW isnt as good as a 140, the A35 isnt as good as the 45, but both cost more than competitors
of course a35
The BMW has mediocre reviews at best while the AMG has the better driving experience
Getting my a35 next week can’t wait
Can anyone advise which has the comfiest seats?
Merc every time
Why do neither of these cars excite me.
It still boggles my mind that BMWs flagship 1 series hothatch has less power than the previous model
It’s just a carbon copy of all other hot hatches now
They downgraded the previous 140i to the current 135i by a whole 40 bhp. What's the point buying it over the 140i then?
It's supposed to double as a daily but give you nice performance as well whilst remaining fuel efficient, whereas the old car was all about performance hence the 3L B58 engine which guzzles
BMW have ruined their front end with the grill its totally put me off them i rather drive the mercedes benz a35 tbh
Merc all day , looks better , bmw looks cheap in Persian with that awful black plastic grill , dated interior . Merc just does everything better
Love the M135i
Neither, Golf R
Buy the Original, not the copy.
Ha ha good joke
Not a fan of the new m135i at all.
Even as a BMW fan, I would take the A35. Utterly terrific car. But Golf R is the best all-rounder.
Exactly, you cant go from a golf r to any of these
I think the s3 takes the all arounder titel
bmw is better
I've gone from a Golf 7R to an M235i GC, its a step up in my opinion, build quality, the feel of the drive, the lack of the stupid child like pops and farts. The only thing thats a tiny let down is the lack of full DSG box. As long as you're not a traffic light warrior you wont miss that in daily driving. Most people who comment on these videos have never had either.
pick the beemer
The 128ti is less money and even or better driving.
Boring.
Yes, totally agree. That's why I opted for blue on my M135i.
A35 for me, 100%
That Mercedes colour would be an absolute nightmare for a body shop to repair. Seen it in the flesh and looks the same colour as an Abrahms tank. Seen the colour on standard A class and I have a yellow A35 in street next to mine which looks like a plate of custard.
I'd be choosing the BMW over the Merc. Too many horror stories with engine problems on the latter.
Merc is miles apart for spec and mods
Mercedes a35 bro
Mercedes all day the interior blows the poor mans german car bmw out the water,it goes Mercedes Audi BMW everybody knows that come on
