I'm not sure about that, the animation is undoubtedly awesome but I've questioned myself "wtf is going on" so many times while watching this fight. And it was coming not from excitement but from frustration, the choreography and editing here are the messiest thing I've seen in a long time.
Yep, the pure chaos and “what tf is going on” vibe brings out Sukuna’s title as the king and why he is called a natural disaster Half the time, everything if all over the place, inverted, messy, chaotic. All reminiscent of why he really was the most dangerous in his era
Makes sense for why some scenes ended up where they did, I remember questioning why was Mahoraga in a plane? 😂 Still even with the end product shit was intensely amazing mostly considering the ludicrous amounts of crunch they did and all the other amazing fights they animated. Its insane how much they did for a television production to meet this vision, and equally insane how there were people who don’t absolutely love this flow and motion, absolute swagger of everything.

It's criminal this was left out. I've seen the fight in the series multiple times, and there was a couple times where I felt the cuts between scenes didn't make sense. This explains it.

I prefer this over the version we actually got. In the current anime version, everything happens so fast and it just seems like random shit is happening. For example, the plane scene, it was never shown how mahoraga got up there or what even happened up there for the plane to go down. In this, you can see them both make their way into it and can see the damage they did. The anime has plenty of examples of that happening. This version, with more time given to the animators, would have been a perfect fight. But it's clear that they weren't given enough time and important parts of the fight were cut out, leaving us with what happens, and not how it happened.
Vert interesting use of minimalism to increase the speed and chaotic feeling of the action. Not even mentioning all the interesting directing decisions like the top down view of the wheel and Sukuna's after image "dancing". Insane work

The Visuals and drawings may look bad and cartoony but the FLUIDITY and Fighting Animation is what makes this fight one of the best animated in 2023/2024.
My eyes and ears felt overwhelmed by the powerful ost and the pure kickass animation. The menacing shots of Sukuna, the fluid animation, the dynamic fight choreography, it was too much peak contained within 4 minutes! I'm definitely watching the blu-ray ver. of JJK S2 when I rewatch it in the future. Crazy how much greatness you can get if you give animators the time to reach the full potential of their talent.
Even vastly undercooked this fight was peak. However, seeing this more realized vision really puts it into perspective just how rushed the episode was. MAPPA execs should be ashamed of themselves, but I'm sure they ultimately dgaf.

The only thing I can see working is to combine all of the other shikigami together using the bull as the base and then let it fun for a while inside the shadows until you find the perfect moment to unleash it, so that mahoraga gets bulldozed by a giant bull running at 1000000MPH

It's literally just Sukuna and Gojo throwing hands for 13 chapters with the other good guys giving the occasional play-by-play. And it's made worse by the fact that there's no real stopping point. Gonna have Kashimo jump in and go to the credits? Or just cut it before Kashimo and the final scene is Sukuna standing victorious over Gojo's dead body? Ehh. I just don't see that.
What I think happened is Sukuna was testing out Mahoraga's adaption. Launching a barrage of fake cleaves, till he adapts to the fakes, then as soon as the 8 seconds is up and Mahoraga can read the fakes, he then switches back to cleaving
Mind you this fight was absolute destruction on sukuna's side. Bro basically didnt take damage, he got thrown around a bit but mahoraga doesnt even get one good hit in. Meanwhile back in the juvenile detention center arc he regenerated his hand like it was nothing. Who can stop this beast? When even mahoraga cant handle his 15 finger variant

Sometimes I wish JJK was a passion project done by A-1 Picture's team that did Eighty Six because those dudes knew how to deliver some quality, sure the decision to delay the final few episodes for 2 seasons because they didn't want the quality of the show to not drop was extremely risky from a profit perspective but it atleast resulted in one of the best looking anime of the decade so far, imagine JJK Season 2 being adapted with that type of mindset.

Imma watch this in theaters, the tv version were confusing in some scenes, like how the hell did they end up in the plane. And the unghosted version actually shows that sukuna used the wings to smack mahoraga which is glorious to watch
So I was confused at first too but it turns out he isn't shadow boxing. He is punching/blocking Sukuna's attack dismantle. Dismantle is his invisible slash. Cleave is his slaah which appears in black and white and is stronger than dismantle. Maharoga probably has found one way to deal with dismantle and its by blocking/punching it. Which looks real goofy without an understanding of whats happening 💀
If you read the manga/anime wouldn't even comment shit like that. It's pretty obvious he is dodging sukuna's slashes or he is trying to reach him, but can't due to the fact sukuna is slashing him and keeping him in one position

Gojo must have killed Sukuna without taking any damage at all because of infinity, but Gege just trolled us, changing rules he set before.
This definitely seems to be 100% of the vision but it's definitely lacking polish when compared to Jogo vs Sukuna. Imagine if you gave these Animators a proper few months of just this episode to work on and nothing else.

@@acan20478 that's why I said "Imagine" because I know they have other stuff to work on(some might even say too much extra stuff to work on, at minimum - below minimum wage). Sometimes I wish JJK was a passion project done by A-1 Picture's team that did Eighty Six because those dudes knew how to deliver some quality, sure the decision to delay the final few episodes for 2 seasons because they didn't want the quality of the show to not drop was extremely risky from a profit perspective but it atleast resulted in one of the best looking anime of the decade so far, imagine JJK Season 2 being adapted with that type of mindset.

Which is what I like about jjk since this event changed history and affect the world. My biggest disappointment after realizing years later was how Pains attack should have had the same affect on Konoha village. Even with reviving all the dead they still had to rebuild from the ground up. But it doesn’t ruin the story for me.
Imma watch this in theaters, the tv version were confusing in some scenes, like how the hell did they end up in the plane. And the unghosted version actually shows that sukuna used the wings to smack mahoraga which is glorious to watch

So I was confused at first too but it turns out he isn't shadow boxing. He is punching/blocking Sukuna's attack dismantle. Dismantle is his invisible slash. Cleave is his slaah which appears in black and white and is stronger than dismantle. Maharoga probably has found one way to deal with dismantle and its by blocking/punching it. Which looks real goofy without an understanding of whats happening 💀
