I get my first loom tomorrow and am excited to start. I’ve watched many videos but, you have by far been the best teacher so far. So clear and concise without saying, um, throughout the whole video.

First of all, love the background 'n how y'guys are always brainstorming ways to improve what you do... Secondly, love the way you teach. You build confidence in each of us to experiment with your way of weaving as we develop our own "eye" for what looks good to us. Thirdly, always excited to receive your video notification because I know it'll spark a fresh idea. You are such a blessing to SO many! THANK U!!! X

This proportion appears to be Golden Means ... basically close to 60/40 and then on and on. Gorgeous!

I often want to buck the traditional fringe and get funky instead. Why always have a fringe? Have been experimenting with options. If i use a fringe, it must be incorporated and not be all about the fringe but a pleasing adjunct. Your weavings are extraordinary.

Yes fringe can certainly be the star of the show as well! 😊

This video is an excellent lesson about creating the the look and length of the entire piece. Do you think that the design of the weaving is a factor in deciding how long the fringe will be? I think your weaving over the dresser succeeds because the short fringe doesn’t detract from the complexity in the weaving. Likewise, the long fringe in the river and trees design enhances the serenity and flow of the weaving. Thanks for describing the options.

Glad this was helpful! I definitely think the design of the piece can be a factor, especially when working within size constraints if it's a custom piece to fit in a specific spot. Since I weave from the bottom up, I always add the fringe first, so I kind of have to know (at least somewhat) what I have in mind for the overall piece.

Hi! I am new to weaving and love your videos. They are so helpful! I had a few questions. Where do you purchase your roving from in the larger lengths? And do you have a favorite yarn retailer(s)?

I have a dumb question. Does anyone know what someone could use in place of the thick wool roving? I like the look, but am allergic to wool...what substitutes are there?

Not a dumb question at all! There are definitely wool roving alternatives such as cotton, soy, viscose, and a few others I believe. I don't currently carry any in my shop but likely will be in the future. If you search Etsy for any of those you'll find some shops that do carry those alternatives!
