  • We all see videos of these cars on a dyno and the various configurations of boost and other mods but what does that mean on the street? In this video I'll show how my cammed, supercharged car does on the street during everyday driving conditions as well as discuss the performance and my experience installing these modifications.

    Thanks for this video - it’s great to hear and see what a 3v with the modifications you have is like to drive around on the street as a daily driver… it does a favour for those of us who are looking at these mods too

    I have a very similar setup and enjoy it a lot. The stock crank is good for 900-1,000 hp. Rods and pistons are a must when going over 12psi or so. Glad to see others out there modding the 3V.

      Supercharger definitely makes old 3V a lot of fun. I went Brenspeed Throwback Package. Super happy with it.

      Is it realistic to make 550hp on 91? I don’t have 93 or E pumps around and I don’t have anywhere to store bulk buy 93 or E-85

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @icebox829 I doubt it on 91 but with the proper supporting mods like good cams and headers and a manifold you could make over 500 I'm sure that's nothing to sneeze at. You need to focus on making it as efficient as possible i.e. good cams and headers it will make more power at less boost which is always good when you're octane limited.

    I was going the same route. Originally was going Edelbrock Supercharger but a little more than I wanted to spend. I decided on the non intercooler Paxton 1200 Brenspeed Package. It’s excellent bang for the dollar, especially if your not going to build the motor. The non intercooler package is a breeze to install, did it in my driveway( No garage). Kit looks just like it came from factory. Do have to drill and tap intake for IAT sensor relocation.

    How's it going brother. Thanks for the video, not a lot of videos are out there with a POV drive and review. I've watched your video quite a few times and i feel it helps a lot. I'm really on the fence of a root style or a centrifugal (most likely Paxton). It looks like root manufacturers have been discontinuing their kits ever since i started looking 4 years ago. I love the whine, i love the ease of install. I just worry the down low torque wont be enough but I'm sure I'm just overacting because like you said, you start to feel it at 2500. Is it really worth the extra $1000-1500 (right now) for a root?

    • @michealclayton1728
      @michealclayton1728  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I had it to do again I would have been more patient and went with the roots style. Either way the power increase is substantial.

    Just picked up this same kit. I heard you say 4.10 gears. I’m being told they’re bad with boost. What do you think? Still really fast on highway?

    • @michealclayton1728
      @michealclayton1728  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just seeing your comment, sorry it's 10 months late. I installed the 4.10s before I ever even had the thought of a supercharger at the time but would have definitely had went 3.73s if I had known what I was going to end up doing.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @michealclayton1728 they're fine with boost all you gotta do is use a 28 inch tire when you run at the drag strip. It'll be fine. There isn't THAT much of a difference between 373 and 410 honestly. 410 will work just fine you can offset the difference with tires. 410 will be fine on any stock motor 3v build you'd have to be making more than the stock motor can make before running out of gear with a 28 inch tire.

    Did it come with the kit?
    Did you load it yourself from a handheld?
    Did you need any adjustments to it?

    Did someone else do the tune?
    If so how did they do it and who were they?

      These engines love to Rev and they have a tall 5th gear man just do the gears man trust me. The car will be peedectly happy on the highway turning 2500 or so rpm give or take depending on tire size on the rear. The engine will be perfectly happy these mod motors don't like to lug they like to Rev so let it Rev.

      To be more accurate, the Brenspeed video that provides Maximum limits to a stock 3V info, the rwhp numbers range anywhere from 452 - 567 rwhp depending on your setup. Just for perspective, I'm running a Stage 2 Kenne Bell 2.4L Intercooled blower with Pypes LT headers on catted X-Pipe with Comp Cam Stage 2 NSR cams and Borla Atak cat-back exhaust. My '06 Dyno'd at 500rwhp / 453 rwtq on a Dynojet which is the target maximum torque for a stock 3V. I also have a McLeod RST twin-disc clutch with lightweight steel flywheel and converted to a 26-spline input shaft for strength, Barton short-throw shifter using a Blowfish shift bracket kit (this resolves the dreaded high-rpm shift lockout issue on 05-09 TR-3650 Mustangs), aluminum one-piece driveshaft. The recommended gear combo for my setup is 3.73's which is what I have. Get that diff checked out, 'cause you shouldn't be hearing that whining sound if the gears are adjusted correctly. Just fyi, the Pypes LT's alone added 34 hp and 29 lb ft torque to my car which to me is considerable. Great Job doing all the work yourself. Huge envy here.
