      He did show how to point it for this particular model. But I wish he showed in the video why he was correctly orienting it, instead of just taking his word for it. But admittedly, directional antennas can be very sensitive to orientation, and the way he was pointing it using his hand and without any line of sight tool such as a laser pointer does not inspire confidence.

    It’s actually a transceiver on both sides, just to be correct, both sides transmit and receive.

    so how was the performance of this yagi antenna? did it meet your expectations? how far did you get signals from? does it work with any alfa adapter or just the ac one?

    Wrong and very bad designed antenna!
    All Directors are same size which is wrong, same distance between them, wrong reflector size, all elements diameter
    . Feeder point also is badly make. I dont see anything correct in it. Got same btw!
    If see some boost it's mostly coz you got longer boom. In fact is acting as a Omnidirectional/rod antenna, not as a real Yagi.

    Bought these antennas. Even with a direct line of sight didnt seem to do any better than the omni that came with my router. Anyone have any success with these? Video claims his friend could communicate 3 blocks away.

    • @wt5390

      This 7 minutes video is pretty useless without any details. Here's my experience: Asus RT-AC66U router, 30ft coaxial cable, and 2 of these Ebay antenna. I used the 30ft cable to bring these antennas out to my sidewalk placed them on a 6ft ladder. On my Samsung phone with Wifi Signal Strength Meter App combined with a clear path at 420ft I was still able to use 50% signal strength. My home internet speed is 100mbps, at 50% signal speed was 700kbps.
      Overall I would say these antenna works.

    You never really show any objective measurements! Yagi Uda antennas and helical wound antennas on the frequency (2.4GHz) should have a gain of at least 10-15dBi. You should monitor the AP wireless output to know and report your gains on the receiver AP to give proper data.

    • @johnrobertson7583
      @johnrobertson7583 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Yagi is directional. It has about 13db gain in a 6” (example) cone....you should put your router at one end of the house and get the booster reflectors like people use on their dji phantom controllers

    Don't listen to this guy, those antennas are made wrong and actually "shorted" in how they are so long range is impossible with them. Some might luck up, get one the manufacturer made wrong that works and it give a boost 9f a few db but never 14 dbi. Most will see no gain only a loss. Don't trust windows wifi signal !eter, two parts to a signal which is signal then health or noise affecting such. Dirty signals can be strong but loss packet rate enormous. He could have stuck with the wifi dongle and been just fine with his setup. Alfas are excellent wifi cards just not the awus1900, it sucks.

    I have a question
    2.4ghz Yagi or 5ghz which is better
    And the difference?

    • @furonwarrior
      @furonwarrior 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      2.4GHz would be better because it travels further than 5GHz using the same amount of RF power. 5GHz is better for short distances and the best option for speed. Further away, the speed benefit won’t help because of how poor the connection will be. It will be too busy trying to find a signal before it can show any performance.
