Interesting that the subway lines with 3rd rail power supply uses rolling stock with conventional rotary motors whereas the lines with overhead wires uses rolling stock with linear motors. In Vancouver, all SkyTrain lines are fully automated and driverless and uses 3rd rail power supply. Yet one line uses rolling stock with conventional rotary motors while all other lines uses rolling stock with linear motors.
How come i haven't made a comment...the video is fantastic, the silver bodied trains are hard to see in the snow but your shots are excellent! I see that Yokohama Municipal Subway use third rail power supply, just as Athens Metropolitan Railway do. This system tends to easily accumulate ice and the pads produce lots of sparks, as i remember from your other video showing that. Snow is a train driver's nightmare but a trainspotter's heaven!
Subway rarely meets snow of course. But Yokohama municipal subway has a little elevated section on the ground. So I want to take the scarce scenes. But the snow storm on the day was more than I could imagine. I was freezing during taking movie, but thanks to image stabilizer on my digital camera I could take scenes much enough to be released!
stationed near Yokohama in 1962-1964, used buses, taxi and trains from Yokohama Central but knew of no subways then.....

Wow--I didn't think the snowstorm would be this intense. It looks more like something you'd see at Sendai or Morioka in the middle of winter....
