- Hey! This is a bit of a different video for me. I thought it would be really nice to document my journey of the college process in the perspective of an aspiring music major because the process is super different and when I was researching it, I couldn't find much info on it from people who went through it first hand. This is officially ep 1 of my college series and I'm so excited for it. I'm just going over my list of colleges that I've researched about, how I determine which schools I want to audition for, and what I look for in potential colleges. I'm not sure if this is of much help at all lol but I hope it is to AT LEAST one person out there!! Thank you for watching hehe:)

WOW OMG. I've also been thinking about double majoring in Criminology and Music, but this decision is so hard. This video really helped me out, so thank you so much. I've settled for a long time about studying criminology, but everytime I think about majoring in music, I've noticed that I feel way more happy about it. Now it's just determining if I should choose a "safe" path way or choose something that I love doing.
AW i'm so so happy that this helped you:) Yea I think it gives you a lot of security that you don't necessarily have to choose what you want to do for the rest of your life right now. You can do that slowly during college and maybe you can end up even having a combination of some sort!! it's always difficult but I know you'll do well! Good luck!

Hello, when you were researching for music + psychology what were some schools were you interested in ??
Hey!! I was very interested in schools like Northwestern/Bienen and Eastman/UofR and Oberlin. A lot of conservatories also have dual degree programs like Juilliard/Columbia, NEC/tufts or Harvard, and CIM/Case Western. That might be worth checking out too!!

Which school did you end up choosing?

Can someone with engineering degree apply for Music courses in top 50 universities that are good in music ? Will we meet the eligibility criteria if have performed a lot as a vocalist but didnt have any official music certificate or diploma?
Yes that is totally fine! The point of a resume is for the faculty to get to know where you’re at as a musician. It is nothing about if you will get in or not! And it is never too late to start pursuing music:)

Yes, they do! Merit and need-based scholarships are offered at most schools!
What does the Rep stand for?😅
Rep stands for repertoire! The different pieces you’re playing!
What does the "Rep" mean?
Rep means the different pieces you have prepared to play during your audition!!

I’m studying at the Eastman School of Music with professor Yoojin Jang!!

Colburn definitely isn’t free but things like room/board and tuition is completely free!!
Did u like UCLA or USC more?
I actually only ended up applying to UCLA because I realized USC college application had too many components for me:)
