Yeah, A pro poodle handler said to me recently about digging in bras for bait: "We don't do that". A non-pro poodle handler, and I agree. Love it Alison--thank you!
Although I agree with your pocket assessment and I try to wear outfits with pockets, there are some times that I just do not have them. I do not use a bait pouch, I use a "Hip Clip". It's something that I use personally when I do not want to carry a purse and I ordered a second one to carry my bait. They are thin, the have clips like suspenders, and 3 different pockets. 2 with zippers and one without (they also come in different sizes). I have never had to close them, because the bait does not fall out. So if anyone is looking for something more stylish than a bait pouch - check them out :)
I do use bait pouch that closes with magnet. Just as simple to take the treat as it is from pocket, and after it just clicks closed. Would love to use pockets but I haven't found great way to have treats in the pocket flat enough. You know, out the treats in and pocket is full and round and puffy - not too nice in my eyes.
I'd like your opinion on people who retrieve bait from their mouths and give it to the dog in the ring - this also has an "ick" factor - at least for me!
I find my girls get over excited if I have bait on me in the ring so they don't get it until after their go around, It's the same if they were to be working in obedience, no treats in the ring so it helps with that. Either food or toy depending on the dog.
Thank YOU for shouting out the bra bait holder - YUCK!!! As an outsider in the show dog world, I am utterly & completely APPALLED by this tacky behavior! I just cannot believe that women would do such a thing! I View the show ring as a job interview for my dog. Who would reach into her bra & pull out a snack during a jog interview????? I was shocked & horrified the first time I witnessed this & it won't ever be ok in my opinion!
I wear a watch that has a stretch band on my left hand and place a medium/small piece of bait under the band. Easy to get to.

I showed dogs in the past (10-15 years ago) but never used bait. Is it something that is recommended nowadays?

Bait seems to always fall out of my arm band, everytime
Lol,,, the bra bait!!! Disgusting!! Thanks for the tips, pockets are the best choice!! But, I tend to hide my bait behind my arm band.
I use little treat sticks and put them under my bra strap. It’s easy to grab and stays put.
