I've systematically figured out why we (ENTPs) are the most in-charge of the starter types (and some other stuff).
-We have a control based ISFJ subconscious which makes us aspire to be more control-based.
-We have a direct INTJ shadow that makes us worry that we aren't direct enough. In the example with the milk, we worry that if we aren't direct we will be made to get the milk ourselves.
-We are very pragmatic and just don't care about what everyone else thinks is "the proper thing". The ISFJ subconscious makes us more dutiful, but in a pragmatic manner.
So yeah, using that I've ranked starter types by their want to be in-charge:
    1. ENTP
    2. ESFP
    3. ESFJ
    4. ENFP
Oh, and how about every other interaction style?
    *Structure*
    1. ENTJ
    2. ESTP
    3. ESTJ
    4. ENFJ
    *Finisher*
    1. INTJ
    2. ISTP
    3. INFJ
    4. ISTJ
    *Background*
    1. INTP
    2. ISFP
    3. INFP
    4. ISFJ
Notice how it's NT>SP>SJ>NF for extraverts and NT>SP>NF>SJ for introverts
*Now I'm gonna waste even more of my life ranking all types by their will to be in-charge because it's fun*
    1. ENTJ
    2. ESTP
    3. ESTJ
    4. ENFJ, ENTP
    6. ESFP, INTJ
    8. ESFJ
    9. ENFP
    10. ISTP, INTP
    12. INFJ
    13. ISTJ
    14. ISFP
    15. INFP
    16. ISFJ
I made this up as fast as I can, there may be some issues.
P.S. ffs I just wasted almost an hour writing and editing this

How about just consider MBTI to be a 4-letter code that is only the tip of the iceberg called Depth Psychology or Jungian Annalytical Psychology? We need to spread awareness of the need for careful assessment, that we shouldn't assess type from the 4-letter dichotomies. And spread awareness that we should take with a grain of salt most personality type assessments available in the internet. Yes, there's the problem of who is supposed to be considered qualified to make such assessment, and restriction would make the "specialists" seem to be making assessments for money, rather than science. Controversies... we won't get rid of them any soon.

I get the point of many of the points that are mentioned, but the three last letters are never referencing gut feeling, or feelings, or perception, or judgement. Everyone who looks deeper into the MBTI system, will know that the J and P dichotomy is about how the person organizes their life. Are they perceiving, meaning, they prefer “go with the flow”, not sticking to or making any set plan. Or are they judging, meaning they usually prefer to make a plan things ahead of time.
Thinking and feeling refers to their decision making style. Are they thinking, meaning they prefer to make decisions based on an impersonal process, or are they feeling, meaning they prefer to make decisions based on a personal process.
Intuition and sensing is about how the person gathers information. Are they sensing, meaning they prefer to pay attention to the physical details. Or are they intuition, meaning they prefer to pay attention to the metaphysical aspect of things.
Your right that people usually don’t look deep enough into it, and think exactly what you said about it. Heck, somebody got intuition and sensing almost completely wrong wrong, and said sensing types are about the specifics, whereas intuitives are about the general idea.
But other that, I agree. The MBTI should just be ignored. At least until someone is able to somehow improve it so it’s more closely related to the functions.

Cause they are 2 parts of the mind and I saw in them a little of myself and vice versa.

@@SpectreTheHorseman No, ESFP and INTJ work good together because of there function stacks. They work good together because an ESFPs conscious function order goes Se-Fi-Te-Ni and INTJs function order goes Ni-Te-Fi-Se, which means that they are a duality relationship according socionics, which means that they go well together as friends/partners because they are seeking the dominant function of the other type and the other type can provide it. ESFPs provides Se and INTJs provides Ni. This is consistent with TFWPs idea of how functions work (look into his book), but it is not consistent with CSJs idea of compatibility since he says in his video titled "What types are socially compatable with INTJs" that ESFPs are the 4th worst pairing with INTJs when it comes to Friendships. Because he thinks that we are seeking the opposite (In terms of E/I) of our functions, which would mean that ENTP is the best match (when it comes to friendships) for an INTJ, and an ESFP would be a horrible match

William Rajbar low preference for Se is the reason(problem). TWFP and CS are both severely flawed in their approaches. The former presupposes cog functions as static and subject to positioning (disregards family dynamics and cog function development overtime) ...The latter renders his entire system useless and subjective when considering the “four sides” theory. (No truth can be discovered due to instability of the system to begin with) ...point being, Chase relies on a “utilitarian” excuse to prove how system is best. “Because it works” (which is weak and doesn’t prove it is accurate) ...Eric has false presuppositions about cognitive functions that render his system to rigid to be accurate. Both are erroneous systems. And neither of them show good understand of what the “complete type” MBTI assessment truly does. (Not a test, an assessment.) They both suffer from high levels of narcissism, which gives the best explanation for their persistent ignorance.

I was always under the impression that the P/J shows which one of your top two functions is extroverted. For example, INFJ. The J shows that their judging function is extroverted (Fe).
The I/E shows which orientation you prefer as your first function. So since INFJ prefers Introversion but their Extroverted function is F, that would mean Ni is their preferred first function followed by Fe. This works for each of the 16 types
I don't think normal tests understand how that's set up x.x

So, MBTI is misused all the time. There are also a lot of bad tests out there, but the system quite useful if you know how to use it.
P = The primary extroverted attitude of the individual (Dom or Aux) is a perception function
J = The primary extroverted attitude of the individual is a judging function
The letters help us pivot on typology to find comparisons (see "temperaments" etc.). EJs share interesting characteristics NPs share interesting characteristics and so on

      100%.
The only people who trash the mbti system either: 1. Don't understand it. 2. Are looking for a "do it for me" "quick fix." 3. Are just trashing mbti as a distraction to build & promote *their* system(s) on top of it. 4. All of the above.
      The Truth is simple:
You don't have the 4 letters without the Cognitive Functions.
Understanding that requires work. Just because people don't put in the work, that doesn't mean mbti is flawed. It's the people.
Why do I all of a sudden feel like I'm defending a religious &/or political construct or something 😂

In my mbti knowledge evolution I hadn’t yet stopped to think or analyze how poor the letter system was, but I did notice how it reminded me of a 4 digit binary number system. With 4 binary digits, you can represent 16 unique numbers. So E=0 and I=1 in first digit, n=0, s=1 in second digit and so on. I don’t have a grid system like you, but instead just run a lot of data through my head when typing someone. I must say, I can’t always do it fast like you claim is possible with your system. But then again, sometimes I do just know almost instantly.
Sometimes for some reason, a name from the past will randomly pop in my head and I will know their type retrospectively, and instantly. Mind blowing.

20:38 I relate so much to the J and P part. A few months ago I took the MBTI test, it told me I was an ISFJ. I read the ISFJ descriptions feeling like: "this is stupid, I never do my chores, my homework, those things are boring, I'd rather practice the piano or build legos instead". Then I decided to do more research and somehow stumbled upon your videos, got introduced to the cognitive functions, interaction styles and finally typed myself as an ISFP.
Edit: I came back to take the MBTI test again and still got ISFJ lol.

If you're a real ISFP in the ie and ei stacking, then you lead with a Judging function (Fi) and have inferior Te, which makes you test J, practicaltyping says. You're more plan oriented than ISTP, because they lack conscious Te (it's not in their top 4). I think I'm SiFi, which is ii/ee ISFP.

I got mistaken as enfp once due to stereotyping but in reality I'm an ISFP. Because I actually speak does not mean E type ugh lol. It's hard to get the right results. It was revealed to me that I was ISFP and i was like I'm a sensor when the fuck did that happen. So I had to re learn shit too. But yes I used to test as a J type because I do lead with Fi a J function but I use Extroverted perceiving so I'm a P. But I'm not a very spontaneous person I do like plans and knowing what I'm getting into. So I get it. Also on S vs N. ISFPs often think they are intuitives because the s and N are close.

I first tested as ENTP and when I read it I was not impressed nor could I relate that much but to only some of it. Tested again and got INTP and it seemed right on almost everything (except for being robotic). Although I state I’m INTP with confidence I still have my doubts and as this whole type thing has been my latest obsession (cos I’m weird like that) I’m starting to learn more about the interaction styles and temperaments.
It still seems to point to INTP but I’m still struggling to be sure about that as I just can’t identify if I’m pragmatic or affiliative. So I asked my boss what I’m like in these situations who better to ask? Lol
I still can’t decide... just means more reading I guess

I understand your point that the dichotomies and the functions are different. If the letters don't represent well your model, why do you still use them in the type grid ? Especially SJ and SP temperaments. For me, it would make much more sense if the Te and Fe heroes belong to the "in-charge" interaction style category.
And the type grid would be something like this :
    - In charge : Te and Fe heroes
    - Starter : Se and Ne heroes
    - Finisher : Si and Ni heroes
    - Behind the scene : Ti and Fi heroes
Do you see my point ? Why would it be wrong if so ? I need some enlightenment here ;) Thanks !

7:54 Or, the test mistakes judging for organized and stiff, perceiving for messy and spontaneous. All actual matter that this is testing is a likelyhood for sensors to prefer Si or Se. Actually, the case could be made too, how NJs are stiff and NPs are spontaneous, it does make some sense functionally. But the tests don't even ask the questions that way. It's like they're not even trying.
There is one test that I like, on key2cognition. It goes after all eight functions individually and lists the three most likely types according to the questions answered. Of course to be taken with a grain of salt, too. But if it has to be a test, that is the one I would recommend. It got my INTJ friend who would insist forever on being an ENTP, based on letters, finally typed correctly and convinced. And it definitely helped to settle my personal confusion with his judgement axis, as I did consider INFJ as a possibility.
In defense of the lettering: I like how xNTP or xSTJ talks about two types with the same functions each.
I like to explain it like this:
J = Pi + Je as the first two
P = Ji + Pe as the first two
    E = Xe goes first
    I = Xi goes first
So an NFJ will be strong Fe + strong Ni in some order. Makes it easier to talk about NFJs in general.
It could very well be done with less potential for confusion. Should we perhaps name it all after the source function and then change the last letter according to the hero? So ENFJ → ENTJ; ISFJ → ISTP; ENTP → ESTP; ISTP → INTJ; INFP → ISFJ? That's just an example. It could be because I'm used the MBTI terms that I see valuable logic within that lettering. Anyone got better ideas? I personally like the DaveSuperPowers system. They basically just call the types by their first two functions, so an INFP would be the "Fi/Ne". There's much more to it, as one goes further into that theory, but I think it's a good start.
32:38 Some people would call it a devilish promise...
33:26 Ha, I do! I definitely do so! 😀 I'm sure you know that. I like your stance! And I like you, Chase! :)
(I know multiple INxPs whose Si child genuinely enjoys being organized.)

“Painful transformative process” is an interesting point.
Realisation of your actual type meant you had to ‘transform’. I’m guessing, (with some personal experience to back this up), that you don’t mean the initial transformation was the changes in your physical life, (although I’m sure these came later), but more a transformation of your self and of your thinking. And yet you were an ENTP before and an ENTP after. So, what is it that actually changed? What is it that transformed that you then acted upon to go out and change the things in your life? Personality type stayed the same, but realisation changed.
I feel there is a clue here.
It’s as if the incoming data was previously mis-aligned and the firewall was blocking the input. Does belief, (the story we tell ourselves), overlay who we actually are? Can these beliefs that get in the way of our true selves be mistaken for being a part of our true personality, like a colour filter on over a lens? Tinting and obscuring from the point of view of the camera and for anyone looking at that camera’s pictures. But anyone clear minded enough to just look at the camera still sees a Cannon or a Nikon.

    • @CSJoseph

While i agree typing by letters is just stupid. I like the letter names because they do have a system behind them that helps me remember all the cognitive functions for all the types. The I/E tells you that your first function is intra/extraverted.
Then the J/P tells you that your first extroverted function is either your preferred perceiving or judging function, your other preferred function is introverted. The two middle letters tell you your preferred way to judge/perceive. Then you fill in the rest using cognitive axis(i have no idea what the plural of axis is).

You're the subject matter expert here so can you please point me in any direction to find objective, empirical evidence of Jungian personality types and their existence. Aren't we technically using dichotomy though? Checking for concrete and abstract is just S/N? Also checking for initiating and responding is just E/I. How we do is just more specific.
Forgive me for calling you out on this, but I've heard you say in your lectures that J types need to plan stuff out. Tons of MBTI knockoffs ask questions like, "Are you a planner, or do you like to go with the flow?" There's nothing in the temperaments or communication styles that check for J/P, but by saying that J types are planners, I'm afraid that you may be agreeing that using J/P dichotomy to type people is, on some level, legitimate.

Speaking of Letter Dichotomies, I think it took me until my mid to late twenties to figure out that I was not the INFJ personality type and was indeed an INTJ. For one, I didn't like the stereotypical description of either personality type and two, the questions in many of those tests were, and still are situational. Also, they don't take culture in consideration.
I think the issue with some people's heavy reliance on the exam is the difficulty of grasping things outside of binary constructs. At least that is my experience when trying to explain to some people that introversion is not equal to shyness or being timid -- especially some extroverts that wear their extroversion on their sleeves.
Not related, I think people would probably be more appreciative of your description of Ne/Ni if you used the focal ability of lens as an example versus that of a gun given that wider angle lens have a high span, but low depth while other lens have more depth, but less peripheral area.

Why don’t you two actually have a discussion/debate? It would do you a lot more good than making passive aggressive videos that are indirectly about (your straw man of) him.
Also your comment on him not having credibility because he has sloppy presentation and smokes weed isn’t very ENTP at all. Sounds more like an ENTJ evaluating people based on their (assumed) position of authority. Ti evaluates claims and doesn’t care about who the person is that presents them, as who made the claim doesn’t have anything to do with its truth value. Changing an INTJ to an INFJ, because INTJ's are Fi, doesn't fix anything, cuz how are they an "F" when they're like, triple pragmatic? Don't make sense... Or an INFP to an ISFP, because INFP's are Si, doesn't either make sense, cuz, we have like, SE TRICKSTER. So yeah. Not a "sensor." I understand a code is easier than remembering lists of functions, but that's all it is and all it should stay. A code.

  • @KA-pe6sv

The P/J just tells you wether your first judging function is introverted or extroverted. All J types have Fe or Te as either their parent or hero function. Yes typing people using the letters doesn’t work because people don’t understand what they mean. The letters aren’t completely meaningless though because they can be used to derive the cognitive functions. For example, I means the first function is introverted. N means that one of the first two functions is intuitive. T means that one of the first two function is a thinking function and P means that the first judging function is introverted. So based on the letter dichotomies you can get that an INTP has Ti Hero and Ne parent. Then the rest of the functions can easily be filled in. Honestly I can see how the letters relate to the cognitive functions more than the interaction style and temperament characteristics. I’m not saying I disagree with the type grid system, I’m just don’t fully understand how it works in relation to the functions. I can see that initiating vs responding means a persons top function is extroverted or introverted. And I see how abstract vs concrete means a person has an intuitive or sensing function in one of the top two roles. But beyond that there doesn’t seem to be a consistent pattern or feature about the cognitive functions to give you the other characteristics: informative, movement, systematic, pragmatic, ... etc.

I listen to many other channels and I get so much more from you that might have gone over my head by hearing it from another angle, but consider you far and away my go to expert. The insight I get from you also helps me look brilliant to my ISFP gf. Big props.)
