One thing you forget to say, that is Karthigai Deepam is the festival of diyas for Tamil people like Deepawali festival for North India. After 6:00 pm when the Maha Deepam is litted at the top of Sri Annamalayar (Mountain) every houses across Tamil Nadu people will be decorated with lot of diyas setting all over their house, for continuous three evenings. If you had the chance to view this on the Karthigai Deepam festival, you will be definitely recognize this is as similar with the way of Deepawali festival conducted in the North India. There will be a special puja rituals at our homes. Maha Deepam is also litted at the Thiruparankundram Temple (Madurai) as like ThiruAnnamalayar Temple at Karthigai Deepam festival. Once the deepam is litted up the Sri Arthanareeswarar will come out of sanctum sanctorum from the temple so at a speedy movement towards the Flag Pole facing the Maha Deepam, and within a few moment Sri ArthaNareswarar will move towards the sanctum sanctorum. People can have the darshan of Sri Arthanareeswarar only once in a year (Karthigai Deepam Festival). This ritual is taking place because when Lord Vishnu and Brama worshiped the endless light beam to manifest who it is, God has show up him to them in the form of ArthaNareeswarar. th-cam.com/video/KJBx3ROaKTc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7TG0Dqs14c08qwIQ th-cam.com/video/hCZd22HW74U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Wx22ph4tO7qmMT8G th-cam.com/video/JseyYCTqhG0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iQ46lNsiz1UW22EF
We were looking for an English-speaking person who could guide us on information about the Thiruvannamalai temple. Thank you for making such a useful and informative video. Request you to do a youtube live tomorrow on the occasion of Karthik Deepam. Wishing you all the best for your creator journey.
Hi, I’m from Odisha. It’s nice to see so many Rath Yatras being celebrated in different parts of India. But, I’m a bit confused. According to our Odia calendar the last day of this year's Kartika month was on the 15th of November. Then why you are calling it Kartika Deepam festival? Or you people are following different hindu calendar?
IN TAMILNADU, the karthigai month starts from 16/17 November and end to 16/17 December. After that , the holy month Margazhi comes. Which is called Deva month . The heaven (vaikundam) doors are open in that month
Thank you for your thoughtful question! The difference arises because Tamil Nadu follows the solar calendar, where the Kartika month falls between mid-November and mid-December. In Odisha, the lunar calendar is used, and Kartika ends with the Amavasya in mid-November. Both systems are part of Hindu tradition and reflect the diversity of how we celebrate festivals across India. In Tamil Nadu, Karthigai Deepam is celebrated during the solar Kartika month, which may not align with the lunar Kartika month you follow in Odisha. I hope this clears the confusion!🕉️🙏❤️
@@TarkshyaPicturesWhat you explained is not true, Odisha also follows the solar calendar. After your comment, I checked Google and the calendars of both states. On April 14th, we celebrated our New Year "Maha Bishuba Sankranti" which is equivalent to the Tamil New Year. Also, according to Google, there will be 11-12 day gap between the solar and lunar calendars, not 30 days. The actual reason is something else
Thank you for pointing that out! I appreciate the chance to clarify this further. Odisha does indeed use a lunisolar calendar, similar to Tamil Nadu. However, the way months and festivals are calculated can vary due to regional interpretations and cultural practices. In Tamil Nadu, the Karthigai month is determined based on the solar calendar, aligning with the Sun’s transit through specific zodiac signs. This means the Karthigai Deepam festival falls during the Tamil solar month of Karthigai, which is between mid-November and mid-December. For example, in 2024, Karthigai Deepam is celebrated on December 13. In Odisha, the Kartika month is also significant, but its observance is closely linked to the lunar cycle. The culmination of Kartika in Odisha is marked by Kartika Purnima, which in 2024 fell on November 15. This difference arises because Tamil Nadu primarily follows a solar calendar for its regional months, while Odisha incorporates both lunar and solar elements differently. So, while both regions use a lunisolar system, the variations in calculating months and festivals lead to differences in their observances. It’s fascinating to see how diverse our traditions are, even though they stem from the same cosmic alignments!

There is one month difference

Kartigai means lord Karthikeya. In south it's Subrahmanyam and Murughan.
Both are different brother; Muruga Bhagavan is known as God Karthikeyan, and this is a name of the month Karthigai Masam🕉️🙏❤️
