Oh, that's true. I think there's a lot of little moments like this. Thorfinn's attack, sparring sessions against Wulf, facing berserk-mode Bjorn, seeing Askeladd dispatch dozen of guardsmen... and now Thorgil's attack. I think Canute will eventually become an Askeladd-type (and maybe Askeladd-level) fighter and strategist, while Thorfinn combines Askeladd with Thors. I'm just sad, that Canute might be mentally gone by the time he reaches his prime with all the Sweyn hallucinations and developing paranoia.

And thus canute goes down a more stable path than the one taken by his dad. Canute has become competent with a sword after he's trained a lot with wolf, but he's still below average compared to the warriors that fight for him
As badass as Thorgil's ambush on Canute was, you have to admit that Wulf managing to throttle Thorgil while having one of his eyes poked out is pretty insane.
Thorgil tried to out sneak attack one of the sneakiest living characters in this series. He still did pretty well. It's just that Canute has gotten way to used to being attacked by Blonde Men who want to hurt him. Speaking of which, Thorkell is gonna be so mad he missed out on this...

Everybody impressed me this episode (well, not Ketil and Fox, but it's still A LOT of impressive human beings in one episode).

6 years is basically an entire console generation, it's pretty old. and the hardware in it is even older than that, it was never really cutting edge but it got the job done, it's starting to show its age

Badger withstanded any form of internal fear to not only swing and fight but to be proactively charging and battling him even with a missing arm which also kicked in adrenaline to help overcome the pain. Mad respect for Canute hes not a physically strong person and he even has a weak body but his reflexes are sharp and his will is so strong he can push himself to fight with a monster like Thorgil
Canute is much more brave than people uses to think. Maybe is not the huge and skilled warrior than every viking can respect but the point is he knows it and still stands. And this is not now as king and badass, he was always like this but people and even himself didn’t realize. That’s his strength, when the opponent thinks he is weak, he is not and the funny thing is that he really wants to be a great warrior, like Thorgill or Thorkell for example, he only wants to become one because he needed for his goals, not for ego or something.

Thorgil was the best character of season 2. He knows what the mindset of a Northern European Pagan Warrior is. He wholly embraces it. It's very different from the mindset of Medieval Japanese Warrior Elite or Buddhism.

People say canute had hella plot armor but to be fair thorgill was an idiot in this moment, he was having too much and found it amusing that canute blocked his strike and wanted to talk about it before killing canute, had he focused like Askeladd or thorfinn canute would be dead. But thats what you get with a character like thorkell thorgill and garm they love fighting so much they throw away theyre sure Ws because they play too much
