"Butch"? _Really?_ That's the worst insult? If I was in charge of writing the scene I would've had Kimber call Liz "birth defect." THAT would've caused a bloodbath right there.
Kimber showed how desperate and pathetic she really was in this scene and the showing up at the wedding. In truth Christian had no real feelings for either of them he wasn't capable of really feeling anything.
That's not completely true though. He had those feelings, he just didn't know how to express them sometimes. If there's one person he truly loved, it was Wilbur.
He loved Kimber. He just had a lot of baggage from childhood that couldn’t express it properly. The carver incident was the nail in the coffin for the relationship when she blamed him. Then married his son. Hard to recover from that

Liz had a point. But Christian and Kimber are meant for each other. Why do Liz and Christian need to get married? Why not marry Kimber like initially planned and hire a live-in nurse?
