I have NEVER felt this way about any other doll faces antique or contemporary, but Maplelea doll faces sort of frighten me!😐 I hope I'm not hurting anyone's feeling out there! Just wondering if I'm the only one?

To be fair the photo of the Our Gen dolls was of their older face-molds , their newer face’s are pretty, and they have variety of hairstyles/colors, braces , eye colors , freckles…. I don’t collect them, but I do own two, and have purchased their retro clothing packs , and small accessories which are nice, and the quality is pretty good for the price. In my opinion OG is probably the best affordable line currently, I do not like “My Life” their quality leaves much to be desired .
The OG dolls have different face sculpts now, much cuter than the ones you featured here. But I totally understand your reasons for limiting the 18" dolls to AG. 🙂
I do like the newer OG face molds much better than the older ones, but their hands still freak me out. They don't look right.
Thank you for shouting me out! Shipping for Maplelea dolls are 9 dollars for both Canada AND the US. Which is super awesome, especially since shipping is so expensive in Canada. The girl in the red is Leonie and she is from Quebec City and loves music and hockey.

I'd never looked the maplelea dolls up before, but after seeing this group photo I really like the girl with the purple vest on! I see the website says her name is saila but how would you pronounce that? I love that she has sled dogs too. And the traditional inuit outfits.

My first 18 inch doll was a Maplelea but once I got an American Girl I was shocked at the difference! I ended up selling her and now exclusively collect American Girl.
I don't like Mapelea, but I think our generation is okay, although I don't collect them! The best 18'' non AG line in my opinion is a U doll from doll of a kind! I really enjoyed watching this video!

I agree, American Girl are my favorite and I'm not really a fan of how Maplelea and Our Generation dolls look. Although, I do think that the new OG face molds are cuter. I have 2 Gotz dolls and 2 of the older version of My Life As dolls in my collection, but that is because I like the way they look. I do think AG dolls have the best quality as far as durability and hair.
They changed the face mold on the our generation dolls, they are so much cuter now. I agree that the original face used to be terrible. Now that they changed the face, i really like our generation. But i have to agree, the maple dolls, the faces are creepy. Im in canada, and they are not that popular as people may think. Most doll collectors here collect american girl, barbie, and rainbow high.
Some OG dolls come with books! I don't know anything about the books, but I know they exist.
I just received Jamila from Our Generation with the newer face mold. She will be my Sarah Moore for my Addy Walker collection.
U Doll is an awesome alternative to AG dolls!!! I definitely want to add at least 1 to my 18 inch doll collection!!!
Idk about Maplelea, but with OG the quality just isn't there. Their hair gets so tangled. I don't like the faces on Maplelea, but I appreciate the representation that they have. AG needs more indigenous dolls.
Great video! I totally agree, while I can appreciate Maplea dolls and how much other collectors love them, their face sculpts and styles are just not for me.
The only non-AG 18" doll I've been tempted to get is Maplea's Sailla... I find her adorable and ill probably get her at some point!
I just got Sailia and love her so much that I will buy another one!
My 2 favorite doll brands to collect are American Girl dolls and Our Generation dolls, but Maplelea dolls...creepy.
I agree about what one grows up with or got use to early on does effect ones taste often. My daughters and I fell in love with AG from the start. We had all the books, but not the dolls, they didn't ship overseas, the books we got from a book club at the American school, so we also fell in love with Gotz dolls which since we lived in Germany were easier to get, but only the higher grade ones. I have collected Gotz HK/CK dolls but am very choosey so only have 6 and one 14" LK. I don't plan on getting anymore. I bought the ones that reminded me of certain peop!e.
I mainly collect AG and have a few WellieWishers.
I will not be collecting any OG dolls neither older or newer ones, as I don't like the face molds or general structure and I had my fill from repairing and fixing them for a thriftstore.
Though I now have a better understanding about Maplea dolls and don't find their face molds as bad as some other more realistic face molds, I still can't say they speak to me enough to start collecting them.
I do have a small collection of 1960s Barbie and friends and some other vintage and antique dolls but it is not my main focus. They have connections to friends and family.
It's so interesting to learn about other dolls and I'm glad they exist! I just don't feel compelled by them, and agree with a lot of your opinions. I think if I got into collecting I'd definitely consider other lines for clothing or accessories to save money. I used to go to an independent store where someone made clothes by hand- and also craft shows! So I'm very open about buying clothes and such elsewhere, but there's just something about AG doll faces eyes etc that are simply endearing- and I don't feel that way about the other dolls. Like you said, it's fine to have an opinion on it, nor is it to say there is anything wrong with these other dolls ♥
You won't be saving much money by buying Maplelea clothes/shoes/accessories but you will get superior quality.
I don't care for the OG Dolls either; but the design and quality of their Beach House and Garden Greenhouse are great!

The OG dolls i have very little experience with. I got two in a lot with AG dolls once. I wanted to fix them all up. The AG came out just great. The OG both had a limb break off and impossible for me to fix. And their hair? Didn't come out well.
I am Canadian and feel somewhat the same. However, Maplelea have some amazing quality outfits. Some are far superior to most current AG dolls.
I find your other doll lines quite unappealing - especially those Rainbow and high school dolls. Each to his or her own.
Then you can just not watch the videos with the doll lines that do not appeal to you.

Yes I have both Disney Ily and one HBCyou doll I love the Ilys hair it’s way better than AG hair but HBCYou hair on the other hand needs more work
I personally like almost any doll line but herspace reasons I only collect dolls that I really like. I can understand now why you only collect American girl. I myself have couple of Our generation dolls but they're just because they're the ones I really really wanted. yeah thing is an American girl I don't even have a favorite but do have a favored Our generation character. Phoebe is my favorite character in our generation. I need to know that our generation makes a blind all that is great I'm going to have to try to get her.
I am extremely biased towards AG bc of their faces as well. Other 18" doll faces are just so uncanny valley and off-putting to me esp. the maplelea dolls 🫣

I only have one our generation doll because it’s a doll that has my name. It’s not a common name so when I saw that I knew I had to have it
Honestly I hate the og facemolds. They look cheesy and the quality shows. I don’t hate the clothing but the sets and packs still look much cheaper and are more for kids than collectors. You get what you pay for.
Note I’m a big Disney fan and I did get an ily doll!😭 she’s cute
I feel the same way about our generation dolls and I’ve considered on collecting them multiple times but face and arms I’m not a fan of. But I have considered collecting ily 4 ever, and my life and glitter girls dolls. I own multiple glitter girls outfits for my wellie wishers and this brand is made from the same company as our generation you can tell by the faces and arms.

You’re totally off on Our Generation, they’re new dolls, before you made this video are amazing! I was an AG fan, not anymore. This is not a fair comparison.
Our opinions just differ that’s all. There’s no right or wrong answer.

That is a very long process that takes about a day to complete due to how many dolls I have. It’s on my list of things to do no worries.
