I built a group slug deck with Tor Wauki the Younger and Obosh as a companion. The lifelink really helps break parity on the rest of the table.

I play with my Thicc Phyrexian Mommy, Solphim. She's brutal at doubling punishing damage and can be amped up by using Fiery Emancipation, Dictate of the Twin Gods, Furnace of Rath, City On Fire, etc. She generate tons of hate once she's online, but thanks to her activated indestructibility she's somewhat safe. Most of the time she wins by using X spells like Earthquake, Fault Line, Molten Disaster, and Rolling Earthquake. If winning isn't an option, then punisher effects like Spellshock, Pyrostatic Pillar, Sulfuric Vortex, Eidolon of the Great Revel, Harsh Mentor, etc. make opponents think twice before doing something. Solphim's a powerhouse that can be built on pure burn, but she's a menace if left on the battlefield for too long even without attacking.

I love my Klothys group slug deck! It's honestly one of my favorite decks I've built and I love having the green for enchantress effects to draw cards and stuff

I have the same thing. Love it. Enchantress burn. How do you deal with the hate you get? I feel like, once I play a damage doubler everyone attacks me instead of each other.

@@srenrasmussen9789 i have some removal and some vows. And a few big creatures like etali or drakuseth

@@srenrasmussen9789 I run a lot of removal and play more defensively with the deck, so as long as I have creatures, I can generally have something to block with. I also have a couple of pieces of life gain and lifelink equipment to help offset my symmetrical burn effects. Equipment is better just in case Klothys never gets/loses devotion.

I like drawing cards and clone effects, so I play Ghyrson Starn so I can have Curiosity, Ophidian Eye and the like. Kinda limits what group slug cards I can play if I care about triggering Ghyrson. Lets me have lifelink for 2/3 of the damage which is a plus.

Helpful video on putting together what group slug is. I play with my Yurlok of Scorch Thrash deck which not only gives me access to jund, not only adds mana burn which can make cards like citadel of pain a lose or lose more situation for my opponent, but since the deck has mana doubler effects to cash in on the mana burn it allows me to slide under the radar/be kept alive bc my opponents dont want to lose their doubled mana just yet. The deck of course has X spells which allow me to take advantage of all the mana without losing to mana burn. I feel it is a unique take on group slug and a 4/4 vigilance commander that taps for jund is always nice

My group slug deck is my Yurlock Manaburn deck. It started out as Commander Quarter's upgraded budget deck, but since then I've upgraded it. The deck was my first real deck that I bought and started going to my LGS with, and it got me to build so many more decks (my favorite being Gishath). Ultimately it's a simple concept. Force everybody to make so much mana that they can't possibly spend it all, but also tax them for not using resources. Then have a bunch of mana outlets that help me win the game (preferably in big x spell finishers like Torment of Hailfire).

I play a group-slug Mogis deck. It is based primarily around Enchantments & has several ways to ding players for 1/2 their life. It also runs Jokulhaups as Jokulhaups leaves Enchantments on the board.

I use ashling the pilgrim in my group slug deck, she is a board wipe and player killer all in one, I do have some group hug elements in there like table card draw, mana doublers, and play multiple lands a turn. I love being arch enemy of the table and decks that get the game going turn 1 or 2 instead of waiting till turn 4 when everyone is all set up and "ready" to play is a fun deck for me. I want to play magic and I want to play now.

I have a Yurlok deck that I built for group slug. I found the way for everyone to not hate playing into group slug so much is for the deck to be full of symmetrical effects. Out of the 4 games I have played with it, I have brought myself to zero with Neheb twice. Need to do some reworking and put more card advantage in I think, but the deck is fun to play and has a few ways of winning, if it can last that long. I only pull the deck out when we have a short time to play, the game will be quick one way or another with Yurlok.

I actually play an ob nixilis group slug deck! No expensive cedh cards, just stuff that pings my opponent repeatedly and some other cool stuff like descent into avernus and kharn the betrayer.
Every game is the same, all my opponents start out being really happy about the free resources, they kill ob because it has gotten very big and then they realize that their life total is so low that a combat step going wrong could very well kill them.
Group slug is so much fun

My group slug is Klothys, God of Destiny. Its like a group slug enchantress kinda beater. I usually die pretty fast because the group hates me but its so much fun when a mana barbs is dealling 6 damage every time someone taps a land 😅

Only argument I'd make is that what you're doing is pillowfort/taxing rather than stax. I see smokestacks as a prison piece. But the point you make is good.
There's nothing wrong with slowing the fight down. Making the opponents fight out of the rhythm they're comfortable with.
On the other side of the coin. There's nothing with speeding the game up by having everyone draw a ton either. If your deck is built to win blow for blow, then don't be afraid to let them get their hits in. Looking at you No Wheel Nekusar 😏

I had a Mogis groupslug I've been thinking of remaking for a while. It was too slow back then. I want to give it a go again with some of the newer dmg multipliers, like Ojer Axonil in the 99

For this archetype, if you also want some politics, I'd recommend Kaervek, the merciless. He punishes any target of your choosing, and you dont have to send that damage to the person who casts the spell.

Hello, I gona give you a challenge, and at the same time, asking for guidance. We have a ligue for novice and casual players in my LGS, so the rules for the deck have some restrictions. No infinite combos, no cards beyond 20 dollars (except if came in the precon of your commander) and no more than 200 dollars for the total deck. Beyond that, some casual player came to the ligue, with the intention to some easy win over the novice player. So, some friends and I, are trying to become "magic antibullinng squadron", so I will like to make a deck who can control and/or beat the more "abusive" players, maybe with no intention to win the game, but beat some strong player. What commander would you reccomend me to make? and with what strategy?. A really appreciated you help. Thanks in advance.

      @commanderbydaenen  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

What you're looking for is a "Fun Police" deck. Something like Oloro Control. Lots of stax, but not the kind of stax that would shut down a new player. So, they're free to attack and cast their big spells, but cards like Damping Sphere or Defense Grid really hose combo players.
