  • I just love these Yamaha Trumpets! This is my favorite one in their catalog, the YTR8340 EM (ytr-8340 EM) signature trumpet!
This horn is a recent trade-in to the shop and just fabulous in every way. Very responsive, big, rich, bright and centered. Known primarily as the horn the incredible Eric Miyashiro performs on you might think this is a one-trick pony and only able to be a zippy commercial trumpet. It’s far more versatile than you’d expect and able to have many different tonal colors! For this video I used my ACB 3CS and a prototype Commercial mouthpiece on it. I actually performed on one of these horns for some time years ago and here’s a video of me playing a different EM.

This horn currently isn’t on the webstore just yet but we are happy to discuss the price at 816-410-0826 or info@austincustombrass.com (I’ll put the listing here once it’s done)
Here’s what Yamaha says about the EM!
    Yamaha says:
This model, developed in collaboration with Eric Miyashiro, draws out the emotional resonance of the performer. From its triple ring finger hook, large bell with French bead, side seam finish and customized mouthpiece design to its semi-hard double backpack case, the instrument showcases Yamaha’s attention to detail at every turn. [NB: no case or mouthpiece included with this trumpet]
    Multi-bore
When the piston is not depressed, the trumpet has the same bore structure as a Bb trumpet as M bore size. However when the piston is depressed, the unique “multi-bore” structure reduces the difference in back pressure by passing through the L bore valve slide.
    French Bead
Unlike traditional methods where a round rim is used in curling, French bead is an extremely advanced technique that matches the curling to the shape of a semi-cylindrical rim and is characterized by improved feedback of sound to the performer.
    Side Seam Bell
Side seaming is the process of placing the connection point on the lateral valve casing side in contrast to the conventional method of placing the connection point on the lower side of the bell. Side seam trumpets are characterized by a more open vibration.
    Specifications
    Key: Bb

    Bell Diameter: 134.4mm (5-1/4")
    Bore Size: Multi-bore

I think that's the most open and brilliant lead sound I've heard you have on a horn! Great playing

This trumpet and your playing of it sound very even and well in tune. I am surprised that you are not adding this to your collection. I am sure that there are videos of you playing a trumpet that sounds better than this one, but there cannot be many of those videos on this channel. This trumpet just sounds like it would allow one to play anything one wanted with more ease than a lot of other trumpets out there. I could be wrong about that. Your playing here, Mr. Austin, just did not sound like you really had to work all that hard with this trumpet. It just has a great sound, so even all over the range. Again, I am surprised you are not adding it to your collection. Great video, great sound, great trumpet. I could have listened to you play this trumpet for an hour. This trumpet will not be at Austin Custome Brass long. Thank you for showing this model off.

I would buy this just because I was friends with Eric Miyashiro at Berklee, and he’s the friggin’ man, but this should go to a better trumpet player than me.

Don't ever sell yourself short!!! I used to think the same myself, until I have the horn that I bought two years ago and I don't have to fight anything anymore!!! You owe it to yourself dude!!!
