Merry Christmas, SS&E! I hope all is well with you. Always remember that you have touched the minds and hearts of many, and at least I have been inspired by your example. To whatever new things you choose to create or not doesn’t matter, may you find yourself on a better path. AMDG
Hello, I’m not even sure if you are this person, but I’ve got to ask. I’ve been looking forever for an account you were active on. I was wondering if you were thinking of continuing the Austreoh story. I’m so sorry, but I need an answer before I go insane 🤪
You’ve found the right account, where IC/SS&E is most active. As to the Austraeoh Saga’s continuation, it is not likely to continue, for whatever reasons that have impacted the author’s life. There are still recent comments on that last chapter of Olfrodi considering whether to continue finishing the work. Now that I think about it, I wonder what one should call a fan continuation of a dead fan-fiction. Would it be the ultimate form of flattery, or a desperate attempt at resurrection? Or is it the case that how a continuation is received is not merely a function of the end-result quality of the piece, but also how closely the work hews to the authorial intent and vision? We will likely never know, but that’s okay, since the words already written are here to stay. In the poetic words of Tennyson: 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
I was going to try and reboot the series, but I don’t want to tarnish the memory of this series. I would even go and consider it the best story on the site. I guess we will never know, but atleast I can say that it was fun while it lasted
From one marsupial to another, I would say that rebooting the series would not be tarnishing the original any more than a new fanfiction inspired from the canon. Go for it if you want to! Some days I feel like writing a continuation of EoP, which has been dead for much longer, but at least has closure and an explanation. Austraeoh, like much of his work, was fun, entertaining, moving prose. So much so you made it to this obscure TH-cam channel of SS&E from the alternate of Imploding Colon. It’s no sacred religious text, I’m quite sure the author wouldn’t mind, and the story is open to interpretation and creative license. Stepping away from that, for fear of doing a bad job? Well, as G.K. Chesterton said, “Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.” Not an excuse for shoddy craftsmanship, but a call towards self-improvement, and dare I say it, virtue.
