    Great video. Had to laugh at the bleeding finger and the typical mate advising to just “apply pressure.”😂😂

    I used the turtle back worms on the weekend for the first time. i caught 26 tommie's, 12 pike, 3 whiting, 4 salmon. I could not be happier. So thanks for creating these videos. i have learnt so much. Its been awesome.

      @@fishingmad There one thing i need to know is how to work out what size jig head/length to choose for soft plastics.
      how do you work that out at the local tackle shop. A jig head to small or to large affects the plastics swimming action. You can not take the jig heads out of there packs at the tackle shop and put them up against the plastic to see what's the best size. So how do you work that out?

    Good day out Alan, that's the most flathead I've seen caught in one session, they're in big numbers down there by the looks of it. Yes you've got to be careful of those spikes, I've been caught a few times, they really hurt, I use a rag more often now. Good one Alan and Mark.

    Nice work as always, good local content for Melbourne fishos.
    Re your website, notice it has a kayak club, do you have like a forum thing where group outings can be arranged, and is that even a thing….

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Clive, At this stage the Kayak Club is all about kayaking tips and mods. A big focus some time back was to arrange kayaking catch-ups and comps, that took a setback with recent covid rules ( legislations and gatherings ), I'm hoping soon to be able to start arranging some catchup days as part of the kayak club. Get members together, really encourage people to meet each other, learn, trade stories and tips and a chance for me to meet and get to know members. All WIP at the moment.

    what size jig heads would you use for western port normally fish near tortoise heads, just new to soft plastics? is there any other good spots for flat head you recommend in western port, do you use the sounder if you can see the bottom or just take a stab?
    look forward to your response

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Western Port is a little different with plastics, you really need to fish during certain times of the tide change closer to slack water as the tidal flow is so strong often the jig head wont hit the bottom. I chop and change jig head weights based on the current flow. Anything from 1 ounce through to 1/8. Flathead often just drift around unanchored rather than picking specific spots.
