    Tom highlights the fact that a musician doesnt need a 17 million dollar custom made gold plated guitar to compose great music and innovative sounds. Brand-less guitars bought from pawn shops based upon their look and feel for less than $100 is all thats needed to extract original compositions from a musicians mind. Tom is a very important musician in the musician industry, irrespective of whether you enjoy the style of music he is producing on record and on stage. Legend imo

    I love that Tom Morello isn’t about a lot of expensive, high end gear. A phenomenal guitarist and musician that uses pretty basic equipment. I always associated Telecasters with country and classic rock music until I saw what Tom accomplished with it. I’m amazed that he still has the same set of guitars from 30 years ago. You would think with all the touring, travel and shows he’s done over the course of those years he would have lost or broken one but very rare. I don’t know any other guitarist that still uses the same set and gear from when they first started.

  • @Breaker197
    @Breaker197 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I love how he makes everything he does so unique while using such surprisingly stock and unassuming gear. On that note, people who talk about solid state amps like they're sub par either haven't played with a Randall, or never actually took the time to experiment and see what kinds of sounds they can dial in.

    • @Breaker197
      @Breaker197 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Depends on what you want out of the amp. If you're like me, an amp like my Randall RH200SC is great. It's all up to individual ears ultimately, so to just objectively say "this amp is good and this one is bad" seems really narrow minded to me. As you say, tones. Though again, highly subjective matter. While DImebag Darrel from Pantera swore by Randall solid state, and has said himself that he wasn't trying to create a 'warm' tone (which most every guitarist seems to pine for, yet there doesn't seem to be a clear definition of what constitutes a 'warm' sound), his tone has nonetheless been described as being just that. Even without a tube amp, this nebulous 'warm' sound can still be achieved apparently. Dime's sound was also fairly highly processed, which of course would just water a tone down by conventional logic. To me, that just kind of defeats the idea of trying to find such a sound. I have tried many a tube amp myself, but nothing compares to my Randall to my ears. Anyway, back to my point, it's up to the individual, so there really is no right or wrong approach to my thinking.

Thanks for talking with me a few minutes ,I never even thought to listen to you ,but if you like Randy,I figured ,you may be worth checking out ,and I was right ,you are a great guitar player. And hey,in the 80s I had a Kahler on my Custom Charvel star because that's what Randy was going to have on his Jacksons ,and it's a myth about the tone because with a Kahler you only take out a small piece of wood ,so it doesn't make it sound thinner ,besides that,it is the 80s guitar playing that you evolved from to get to your style. Keep up the great work!

      I told him (Tom) and his Mother,when we were there after it happened,we talked for about 15 minutes,he wanted to know about Randy from me since I lived by him growing up and took guitar lessons from Randy ,Tom was way more interested in me then I was in him,this video just made me think about it,I don't think he would or will ever see this ,it is mainly for other people ,some guitar players and fans like stories like this.And why would you even say that about taking a gun? This is a guy that hangs around with his Mom,which is fine ,my Mom went to see Van Halen play their last show,but that whole "I'm a political activist "is a gimmick ,sheesh,KISS had make up ,my band Fatal Attraction were Vampires ,c'mon .

      But maybe this flags that he raise is good for some people, you know, his a musician and the music is what is supposed to matter but, I don't know, while some read the book of Marx, the quartet practice in the park. I think is somehow good you take interest for other areas of human knowledge by being interested in arts like music, painting, filming, you know, just for the entertaining. XD

      well ,whats funny is I gave him my business card and he said cool ,and gave me his e mail ,so I keep in touch with Tom,he knows we think completely opposite as far politics ,and his fist band I wasn't a big fan of ,he was just being a record scratching DJ on guitar,it was different. But this guy could step into Ozzy Osbournes band and play every song off his first 2 albums perfectly ,he can shred! So,he has challenged me to try and think up something different on guitar ,so I have been,I put them on youtube and my Facebook site and checks them out and gets back to me with either good or what he thinks I should do,I actually stopped reading the posts on here ,but you seemed like a nice guy ,so I answered .Or at least told you the real story ,I just posted the Dr.Pepper incident in case he might see ,which is unlikely ,and get a laugh out of it ,i don't care what anyone here has to say especially if it's negative stuff,I they were standing in front of me ,they would be scared to death! ,but thanks for your comment.

    • @MjAuRdXo

      I'm sure he does. Most communists do know about the history of the USSR, and Maoist China, and have critiques of those experiments, based off of the theory of what communism actually means, which is a stateless, classless, moneyless society, based on worker ownership of the means of production (socialism). Which you can pretty much cross both of those experiments off the list for actual communism, let alone even achieving socialism. However there are experiments that did end up working out as far as structure goes. Places like revolutionary Catalonia, the Paris Commune, and the Makhnovist territories. Although they did end up being shut down due to outside sabotaging. There are even some places, despite outside sabotage, that are still going strong. Places like Freetown Christiania Denmark, The EZLN territories of Mexico, and even Cuba.

I think that Marxism on the other hand, is not a good way. The point about the hate on communism is ignorance. Many of you really dont understand this complex concept and the advantages and disadvantages of it.

    • @meroinheroin
      @meroinheroin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      +Felix Nieuwenburg The thing with Lenin is that he died before he could transform the Soviets' economy into a communist one. Under Stalin, all the factories were seized and the economy stayed the same so you basically just had state capitalism which is the farthest thing from Marxism. And you had the fool Stalin saying things like "We have achieved Socialism!" which would of made Lenin turn in his grave. There's nothing wrong with Marxism, it's just that we've had decades and different generations of Americans seeing red scare propaganda like "The Communists are hiding under your bed, trying to kill your puppy, and ruin your family." I encourage everyone to look up Prof. Richard Wolff, he's very well versed on the subject and gives a very objective history of how and why we use still Capitalism today.

      Common misconception. Telecasters sound just as heavy. Try again. Tom Morello, Kim Thayil, Kurt Cobain, and Chris Cornell just to name a few have all used Teles and played some drop D or C sharp riffs with them. I myself do and it sounds much better than my strat or acoustic electric IMO. This idea needs to die that you can't play drop D or the likes with Teles or single coils.
