    A good thing about our supermarkets is they have a section on the price tag that tells you how much the product cost per 100grams. So sometimes it’s cheeper to buy the the smaller pack because it works out cheaper per weight.

    Grew up having raw cherry tomatoes and mushrooms in my school lunch. Still love them. We definitely have Horlicks here. The fresh grated Parmesan from the fridge section is better. Just keep you shredded cheese and grated Parmesan cheese in the freezer. It lasts months…

    I have both supermarkets close but l mostly go to Wollies because the prices most of the times is better. Especially with specials. The good thing about having 2 competing supermarkets is one week certain things were on special at one place then the next week it will be on special at the other. An example is chocolate bars. When there not on special there usually $2 each, then when ether supermarket has them on special, there 90c each.

    I prefer Woolies but Coles have some items which are no longer stocked at Woolies so we shop at both. Have you tried IGA? Not sure if they’re in QLD though.

      I would've thought you have cheaper food because you can get stuff from the US?
      Well unless a lot of US foods aren't imported due to Canadian food standards like Australia. Most US products when you look on the packaging usually says made in Australia, some ingredients are replaced with approved ones like cane sugar etc.

    • @debbiewbd2359
      @debbiewbd2359 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevenbalekic5683 we do get some stuff from the US like vegetables, fruits and some processed stuff but our standard of living is high like Australia, so the food prices are higher. We also have to pay taxes on any groceries that are processed like potato chips and canned food. Where in Australia your taxes are already added into the price. Yes our food standards are much higher than the US.
      Our wait staff in restaurants get tipped like in the US but not fast food places.
      It's crazy how similar some stuff is between Australia and Canada but other stuff is really different.

      Cool. We also have a 'junk food' tax on fast food and overly processed foods as well. I think this is to make sure that fresh foods are cheaper than junk foods so people are more inclined to cook with fresh foods.

    I've found coles to be the most expensive of the 3 main supermarkets here. Woolies is next, followed by aldi, which you may be familiar with. Though Coles generally has more items, the higher cost of groceries makes it a no go...not to mention they don't offer delivery to my little NSW town, whereas Woolies does, which is important whilst we are currently in lockdown. We've gone from 0 - 19 cases in less than a week, the joys of a small town haha.
