      Oris is rated. They are extremely well respected and often recommended in the normal people watch community. I wouldn’t call them “underrated”.

      Crown guards are the pieces of the case sticking out that the strap is attached to

      He must have meant lugs. There are no crown guards on that watch. The area of the watch including the lugs covers 80%

      Yeah he meant lugs, the crown guards are those protuding pieces of the case around the crown, meant to protect it from impacts, but yeah this watch doesn't have any

      A big part of it is the case length, sometimes called “lug-to-lug”. However I think it should just be called “case length” because most people could get what that means w/o too much trouble

    I am a big guy with a larger than 8-inch wrist and 36m is my favorite size.
    Bottom line: Wear what you like!

    I’ve got a 7in wrist and a 36mm ORIS. Might look a bit small but I love the watch and it serves its purposes 🤷‍♂️

    The weird trend for huge watches has gone too far.
    36mm looks a little small on my wrist but 38 to 40 is my sweet spot.
    Got a 42mm Chris Ward and its a nice watch but a little big.

    Remember. Larger watches look good on larger wrists, but smaller watches look good on ANY wrist.

    I don't understand the culture behind having an oversized watch. It's like buying a pair of shoes that are way too big for you. It would look so goofy and would be so uncomfortable.
    Get a proportionate watch.

      If I may. Your problem is you've bought into this watch-wrist size BS. Wear whatever you like. I own watches ranging from a 34mm vintage AP all the way to a 47 Pam. I don't have large wrists. Probably below 7" (I've never actually measured because I honestly couldn't care less). My beater is the 47mm because I just like wearing it. Just wear what you like!

    When I was looking at a new watch I tried on a 37mm, 39mm, 40mm and finally decided on 43mm. Citizen Prodiver eco drive. Keeps great time and the Blue face is wonderful

I have a small wrist but I wear a 43.5 mm orient sun and moon version 3 with the blue dial and I love that it's bigger and has a thick case people could say "it's too biiiig for a dress watch" It's a unique fun cool watch with amazing value for money I don't care if it's not a "small classic dress watch that should be 38mm or less" because I like it whether it's 34mm or 46mm wear what you like 😁😎👍

      Yes, back in the days we had pocket watches which were smaller than our phones. Somehow wristwatch were more convenient and pocket watches become obsolete...
      If you dont find it convenient ,- just wear a smaller, thinner watch. it literally takes 2sec to look at the time and its a physical dial and not a screen.

      @@andybaldman Nobody forces you to buy overly expensive, less accurate luxury mechanical watches. Just buy F-91W.
      Or if you want you can get radio controlled solar watch, so it will have perfect accuracy , a physical analog dial, no battery and no maintenance for like 10-15y, and it will have more shock and water resistance than any phone. Again why would you use pocket watch/phone if you have wristwatch.
      Also overpriced is subjective term. People buy iphones which are twice the price of equivalent android and they are throw away items. Meanwhile collectible mechanical watches have high resale value and unlimited service time. So their lifespan is unlimited.
