They say that people who play exceptionally well "changed the game", but Lawrence taylor literally did. He set the NFL all time sack record while playing most of his career against a double team. He is one of only 2 defensive players to win the NFL MVP. He went to the pro bowl for his first 7 years. Lawrence suffered torn ligaments in his shoulder, and a seperated pectoral muscle during a game, not only did he stay in the game, but he got 3 sacks too. Taylor did all this while smoking an ounce of crack every day. Taylor was so dominant that the boogeyman would check under his bed an night to make sure Lawrence Taylor wasn't there.
He use to always talk shit and was known for this saying after he would tackle someone he would say: “ get use to this because I’m going to be in your shit like this all fucking day”. Dude was relentless, explosive and strong as shit and fast as fuck and motor was non stop he never got tired or took a play off. His other saying was: “I’m going to be on you like a pack of wild dogs”
Brrooo comment so under rated. Because the way coaches hear the name LT. has either gave you nightmares or dreams. Sometimes both. He was a force to be reckoned with.
LT was an outside linebacker, not a DE, in a 3-4 defense. He broke both of Joe Theismann's legs on that hit vs Washington. That hit was the reason teams were going with 2 TE's and why offensive tackles were more important and they got paid alotta money after that.
I'm late AF to this, so it's probably been said already, but there's a few things worth mentioning. - LT was high almost every game. On coke then graduated to crack. He straight up admitted to it. - He had other players take piss tests for him so he wouldn't get popped for drugs. One time he tested positive it's because his teammate was also on stuff. He couldn't even be mad. - He revolutionized the OLB position. Completely changed it to what we consider now the edge rusher. - The comment about the rest of the team also being in the backfield? The mid 80's Giants were STACKED on D. Carl Banks, Leonard Marshall, Jim Burt, Pepper Johnson, Harry Carson were all pro bowlers/all pro dudes. You couldn't triple team LT cuz they'd eat you alive elsewhere. - That clip where he broke Joe Theismann's leg, he immediately started screaming and waving for the medics to get onto the field because he heard and felt that leg snap. Ended JT's career. - He had games where he single-handedly made every defining play in it. Other highlight vids cover them, but one game vs the Lions was like 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and an INT return for a TD. Another was vs the Saints with a torn shoulder, in obvious excruciating pain, 2.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles again.
He WAS the very best defensive player that the game has ever seen, although I do not think it was intentional, he ended Joe Thiesman's football career, after LT tackled him in that 1 game, Joe Thiesman never played another down of football, it was a regrettable injury
Sadly they didn't record forced fumbles as an official stat when Taylor played (they also didn't record sacks his rookie year). He was really the originator of the strip sack as a skill. He is sort of credited with 33 FF for his career, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't more than that in reality. He was an absolute monster. And yes, teams often double and triple teamed him. Otherwise he'd have had a sack on every drop back.
Lawrence Taylor, defensively, has had as big an impact as any player I've ever seen. He changed the way defense is played, the way pass-rushing is played, the way linebackers play and the way offenses block linebackers.- John Madden
@@punkem733 LT seriously had teams that would double-team him every single play, including the plays where they run away from him, just to try to stop him. Honestly, you have to be a special breed to force opposing teams to change their entire offensive schemes just for you.
LT is the Goat, no contest. He was a LB, his coverage skills were on par with his rushing, people just don’t realize this because all the clips are of him rushing. This dude had a crap load of pick 6s and INTs, even a couple 90+ yard pick 6s. Literally the only D players to be able to control and win a game by himself from the defensive side.
Grew up watching LT and all the greats of the 80s and there won't be another like him..Man was so feared, in college they didn't want him to guard Jordan..And yall can guess why
You have to see other clips, trust me MFs tried to double team him but he was so explosive and strong that he was running over two people. What this video is not showing was the 2 or 3 people he went through before he got to the quarter back air running back which is whi in the video you always see no other opponents around. Aaron Donald and Ray Lewis couldn’t touch Lawrence and they both have openly admitted that
Greatest defensive player ever. He was a 3-4 OLB not a lineman. Any video of LT or John Randle HOF defensive tackle of the Vikings, having the sound on is a must.
another dominant defensive player (who didn't smoke crack before, during and after a game) played for the Bears a long while back. His name Dick Butkus. check it out...
While he was most known for his pass rushing promise, look up the TH-cam video on "Lawrence Taylor run defense". Not only was a he a crazed maniac on (and off) the field, his first step, willingness to play with pain to inflict pain, and instinct for the game was supernatural.
The way NFL was back in the day was REAL REAL TOUGH! Today, a lot was been done to protect the health and lives of players. Face Mask, Head to Head tackles, Horse Collars, Chop Blocks, etc… we’re legal plays back in the day! L.T. Broke Joe Theismann’s leg! HE WAS A DEFENSIVE BEAST!
Notice most of his tackles are done properly with the arm and shoulder, not head spearing. And, would you want to be the RB told to stay in and protect the quarterback?
Lawrence Taylor is the defensive 🐐. Truest 1 man wrecking ball. I let you guys find the stories and u should. Will say when he accidentally broke Thiesman’s leg he immediately signaled for help. Check out Dick Butkus who had to be mean to survive his name. Then you’ll have seen 3 of the greatest linebackers. Taylor, Butkus & Ray Lewis
He's not a D End fellas, he's OLB in the 3-4 defense. You should see his interceptions and the stories of him playing in great pain with torn muscles. A freak of nature and a one of a kind !!!
The most graphic injury ever involved LT, he hit Redskins QB Joe Theisman and broke his leg horrible, it was so back as soon as it happened LT was screaming for someone to help dudes leg literally collapsed on itself. Just got to the part of the video where y'all saw it :)
Lawrence Taylor redefined the position of OLB/DE. I believe he was the first person to rush standing up (not putting his hand on the ground). He was definitely the most impactful player that I have ever seen.
On your own time you guys should listen to people talking about him, even this video. Offensive players in all position groups would say they would start feeling something around Wednesday before gameday. Ron Jaworski was particularly terrified of him. One Time a QB couldn't find 56 pre-snap and called a timeout. 56 wasn't in that play.

💯
He reminds me of a lion bringing down a gazelle!
Best to ever do it.
Ya should do Bruce smith

Lt also played with another HOF named Harry Carson and pro bowler Carl Banks
You guys made me laugh more than any video in a long time. I’m glad you got to see a taste of what I grew up watching. LT was the greatest.
im grateful we was able to make u laugh appreciate the support
I watched almost every game LT played. You have no idea what a destructive force he was. Week in, week out. He was an absolute marvel to watch.
Derrick Thomas is the 90s LT version
Derrick was not good against the run
Another 757 icon!
They don't the About the talent that comes from there.....TOP TIER....
Watching LT gives me the same feel as watching michael jordan highlights. To me Lawrence Taylor is the greatest football player I've ever seen.

LT is the reason why left tackles get paid so much now!

Laurence Taylor didn’t tackle players, he consumed life forces.
There is NO BODY like LT. He is the Greatest LB there will ever be. I was lucky enough to see him play and believe me, he was feared.

You forgot Gary Reasons
And he had to play against one of the best offensive lines of all-time in the Redskins twice a year. He was amazing
As a redskins fan.. he destroyed the redskins, every time.. lol
@@tstumpf75 yes me too! He destroyed
He played against the great wall as well and owned Tuine and Newton

My favorite athlete of all time.
What y'all young cats need to understand is....before Ray Lewis, this dude was the original #OneManWreckingCrew
Y'all gotta do Steve Atwater
Y'all remind me of me and my buddies when we were your age. Ya'll so turnt!

No one ever figured out how to block LT, if you dropped back farther as a QB you just got hit harder.
Awesome reaction
LT was the reason for the west coast offense and the double TE sets
Reaction to Ronnie Lott
Yup that’s the famous Joe theisman leg break
You guys are crazy love this review.. you need to do LT MOST INTIMIDATING PLAYER OF ALL TIME...

He was double teamed alot, but the giants would start blitzing to the other side.. so pick your poison
LT was the most dominant player ever, he was a straight menace and yes, high on crack or drunk most of the time...
Not during games. He stopped at 4 in the morning!

The BiIG BLUE WRECKING CREW! I wore a T-shirt in middle school that said that! The Giants were awesome back then and LT was unstoppable!
One thing that is worth noting. LT smoked a bunch of crack before every game
There is only one LT and it ain't LaDainian Tomlinson.
Check linebackers Mike Singetary, Derrick Thomas, Bruce Smith & Brian Urlacher....old school Deacon Jones & Dick butkus....Jack Tatum too
There were offensive linemen that admitted that they had sweaty, sleepless nights when they knew that they about to play against.
LT was unstoppable and the more you game planned the better he played
Reggie white up next 🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒.

The reason superstar left tackles making as much as $20m a year exist. Completely changed how the game works.
It was a different game back then,
Unlockable, even larry Allen couldn't block LT
Imagine you took Troy and added 30 pounds and 5 inches and put him on the line. Could be on the ends or the middle. That’s what LT was.
His pass coverage was equally amazing
LT invented the strip sack
Ended Theismann career with that tackle. If I'm not mistaken that happened on Monday Night Football. Worse break I've ever seen
And to be fair LT was devastated that that happened.
That tackle on J Theisman is a legendary moment for him
He's not a D End fellas, he's OLB in the 3-4 defense. You should see his interceptions and the stories of him playing in great pain with torn muscles. A freak of nature and a one of a kind !!!
Doctors ran a test on Lawrence Taylor once, they found blood in his cocaine system.
Yeah that tackle they showed at the 7:00 mark ended HOFer Joe Theisman’s career
His highlight film is insane, but you need to watch a video with player interviews to really understand how good and crazy this dude was
He made the NFL teams go get Lt frfr......

He played OLB
Thanks again for cracking up my cracker ass. 😂
Watch Wilbur Marshall an old Bears linebacker
Thank you gentlemen. . . H gave birth to AD and ray ray tho
Cocaine's a hell of a drug
YAWL SAID (I KNOW HE HAD TO HURT SOMEBODY)LT ENDED A FEW CAREERS!!!!!
LT did crack before every game. There’s a video out there’re that talks about it
Guys check out what LT did too Washington Redskins Joe Thiesman
Brosnan, you have to listen to the commentary to know!
I got a stale ass bag of those jolly rancher gummies
Jolly ranchers gummies good asl tho
When you think of game changing players he will always remain at the top of the list
You gotta watch other videos on LT there are better ones
He’s the reason I started watching football back in the eighties
He’s the greatest
Only 2 defensive players have won NFL MVP Alan Page 1971 and Lawrence Taylor 1986
No clapping, do the Mario 😁
You turned the sound down and missed all the information they gave about him. It was a big part of this!!!
HE broke JOe Theisman's leg (compound fracture). Basically ended the career of a few QBs.
Cocaine is a hell for a drug🤣😝🤣
Real talk . . . Bored films LT highlights. . . Y’all heads are gonna explode!
You guys should have listen to what they was talkin about he smoked crack before the game started
excuse me!!! what
It's true! But I think he did coke and crack. Not at the same time of course lol. But he was definitely flying on something before each game.
So what kind of football did you play? In NYC, this is called Smashmouth football.
