i have one of these and refind it every so often and play with it before loosing it again. its great for car trips. one person controls and reads and everyone takes turn guessing. you can stump it but if you guess something common it is usually right. it is impressive.
@weirdoldtech honestly, I can't remember. It would give a lot of close enough type answers. It's almost right, but you can tell it has a limited number of answers, so it comes close. I always wondered how it worked.
Saying bananas aren't colorful and don't come in many varieties was an interesting choice - they do in deed come in many, many varieties and I would consider even the most basic banana's bright yellow skin to be quite colorful! I knew the game would still guess it but those answers made me think that you and I experience bananas quite differently!
I thought I might get it in the neck for my banana answers! I'm sure there are many bananas, I suppose I was thinking of the Cavendish, but yes the colour, lol, fair point!
This is a very niche video. I had one of these! I also wasted a lot of time playing the online version as well as a newer one called Akinator (more popular in the early 2010s).
Quite an interesting device. I would be very surprised if Akinator wasn't inspired by this. I guess it is limited to a rather "small" amount of very common words, but it would be interesting t o see the entire list it has access to. Perhaps somebody managed to dump it.
I do wonder what the word list would look like, I wonder if seeing it would ruin the magic though, I wonder if the answer was 'the 20q device itself', whether it would a) get it right, b) become self aware of c) explode.. I'll have to try it out!
