Thanks so much for watching! This receiver is for sale here: www.ebay.com/itm/387311501188 Let me know what you think of my music recommendation or the restoration in the comments. I love to hear from y'all! I haven't posted a long video like this in a couple of months and it feels good to get back to it!
@@_I_was_there I like that idea too. My worry would be that the final step of dumping it to the trash does just that -- damage. At my local transfer station, anything that's trashed by the public literally gets thrown into piles ... it ain't like Goodwill where someone actually picks it up by hand and places it somewhere.
Y'know, there's a market for viewership if you start just randomly and spuriously buying old receivers, refurbishing and reselling them. Just two years ago, I bought a Pioneer SA-610 for $106 (I live in Iceland) because where I live, there's just not a ton of older equipment like this left, and if we have to buy it from overseas we still have to pay a 25% import tax on top of cost + shipping fees. I think pretty much all of us love it when quality electronics are kept from going to the landfill.
Haha yea that's what I've been doing. I have 7 videos back logged but haven't had the time to edit them since I've been busy working on gear...more long form videos coming soon! Ahh man! Yea I bet there is very little gear in Iceland. Super cool that you are into it though! Agreed! I hate to hear about this stuff getting thrown out. It's a shame. Thanks for watching!
Loving the channel, loving the process content, your enthusiasm and energy ,draws me in with your explanation of what and where you have gone with the process including learning new processes, clear and concise explanations ever thought of a teaching/ training profession Good job from Scotland 🏴 Would like to add the name is Tommy using my wife’s iPad mine has given up,new one required!!! Atomic Rooster nice recommendation my era👏🏼
Thanks for the vid. Good job on everything. Light wood was a good idea. Wish i had your skills. Some people are just natural born engineers...Wish you were a little closer too and then i could just drop my vintage stuff off for you to work on (if you wanted to that is). Mostly small stuff, but my skills pretty much begin and end with DeoxIt. 😂
Thank you for watching! Glad you like the wood veneer. It's one of my favorites. I do offer mail-in repair services but not having to ship stuff sure is nice!
Nice job! You inspired me to veneer my SX450! But both of my indicator lights are out. Can you please share what part number you ordered and from where? Thanks!
I'm glad you're enjoying the channel! Yes, the Tannoy's are a 12 inch monitor gold driver inside of the Stuart cabinet. They were used mostly in recording studios but Tannoy (UK) imported them to the US and had Barzilay build cabinets for them so these look really similar to some wharfedale and other speakers. The cabinets are not the best so I will eventually build new cabinets that will sound much better as well as new crossovers. I really love the way they sound as is though. Maybe a touch muddy from old capacitors but they stack up really well against most of the speakers I have restored.
Hello, I own a Pair of NAD Model 240 Floor Standing Speakers. ( 8" Woofers and 1" Tweeters ) The large White Painted 3" NAD logo with 4 White lines is on the lower 1/3 of each of the Black Speaker Boxes. Have you ever seen these Speakers before? I was wondering How and When they came about.
Thanks for watching and subscribing! I haven't heard of those speakers before. Can't find much info about them online either. They look like they're built pretty well but hard to say. If you like the way they sound, keep em!

Make a connection at your local sanitation department.
I work for NYC Dept. of Sanitation and we get A LOT of these kind of stereos

Id love for you to do a deep dive on how you actually test each style of component. Setting on the multimeter, normal ranges, etc
I really liked the detailed repair on this video…cheers from Canada.

Use flux to reduce heat requirements when soldering.
Thanks for the tip :)
