12 degrees F this morning in St. Clair County, Michigan w/ abt. 2" of snow last night, making roads icy and treacherous. The good news is SUNSHINE. It's been cloudy for weeks. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy & Healthy New Year to Farmer Tyler Ranch and family!
36° in my part of Orange County, New York. Still in partial drought, it did rain all day yesterday, thank goodness. Sunshine today Thursday 12/12/24. Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too. 😁
Really enjoying all the camera angle FTR uses - love the slo-mo! These all make the video very dynamic ! Love the shotsof Callie - she is sleeping the sleep of a well exercised pup - she does not mind at all if Tyler works while she sleeps ! 😴
Very fun to watch. Your camera angles are fun. Thank you for taking the time. I look forward to these videos you think are boring. To me they are fun every time😊.
Tyler, Always enjoy how you're willing to work alone without seeming frustrated at so many tasks that would be quicker & easier with help. I plant old school like you but i secure the proper length pvc or bamboo pole to the front of my tractor at the right spacing and then hang a shop towel from the end of the pipe and let that towel pass over my previous tire track. Saves time from all that walking putting out bags.
I just thought of a funny scenario: a farmer spends hours pacing his field, carefully placing his white paper bags to guide his fertilizer and seed spreading the next day. Escorted the whole time by his faithful dog. He goes out the next morning ready to spread, to find his dog waiting to eagerly greet him on the porch... Along with the several dozen white paper bags his faithful companion had retrieved for him. I've known dogs who would actually pull stunts like that!
So satisfying knowing your Hayfield is planted. Looking forward to your covering soil over it. It's such pretty countryside. Best of blessings to you and all your family and livestock!
Great camera angles! I know that is a lot of work. Thank you for all your work on your videos. I am a small ut channel. I know the work you go through.
Watching your videos helps to keep me grounded. Some people in todays world don't really understand where their food comes from. Farm life is a very healthy to grow up and live.
Your videos are so good. I never get tired of seeing any portion. I don't understand editing or the time involved to do it, but I do appreciate it and thank you for doing it. There are so many facets to running an operation like you do. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a blessed new year.
good grief Tyler, how many times did you stop to move us?!! Appreciate the effort you put in behind the scenes to show us all the things. Out of interest do the cows seem to have a preference on which hay they eat? Or are they just happy to be given something without seeming to care what it is?
✨🏆✨. You are a very intelligent farmer. There’s no one to make sure you go the extra mile to do things right. That’s what makes you successful. Productive day today on Farmer Tyler Ranch!
That view of the tractor wheels going up the ramps would be really nice to have when loading equipment that you can't see if your lined up with the ramp, lol!
My FFA project was Beardless Wheat.. that had just came out and Vetch mix… as I recall no vetch grew. At that time most of the winter feed crops in the valley were Montezuma Oats. It would be interesting to see how your vetch turns out.
Tyler, for those relatively new to the channel could you kindly give a demo of your farm operation. Maybe via drone. It would be helpful if we understood the relationship of the home, workshop, steer pasture etc
Good morning to you in beautiful Northern California. My home sweet home, Placerville. Thank you for all the beautiful camera shots, felt like I was there. ??? Just wondering why you did not use the LS ? I thought it would have GPS and make your day more comfortable. I’m sure you had your reasons, I’m just curious. Calli was adorable sleeping on the 4 wheeler
nothing wrong with old school. I watched a video of a large farm in Canada that was filmed last spring. The Farmer was complaining he was 2 weeks late planting his wheat because his GPS was broken and parts on back order. I asked him how his grandfather planted that same field 90+ years ago considering he was 3rd generation on that farm???? LOL Young people depend too much on tech. They can't think for them selves..
Awe, please don't leave out feeding the cows, I love seeing and hearing them waiting, then running in and eating the hay. I look forward to that bit, as it always looks as if they haven't been fed in a while and are starving. But I know they aren't starving, they just act like it. Plus, I get to see their wet noses in the camera when they come up to have a look.
I like your spreader, I have one quite similar, it was designed and built in Ireland. Do you have any way of regulating or monitoring the rotor speed? Light seeds will not travel as far as heavier seeds coming off those rotors. Great work all the same, I’m glad you have the seed in the ground. (It won’t grow in the bag😄)
The rotors are driven off of the pto so if you want to change their speed you would just change the rpm of the tractor. Yes it feels good to have it done!!
In the 50s here in Kansas. We never needed to plant hay it just came up every spring by itself. Always plenty of rain too so didn't irrigate either. Always enjoy seeing how different things are in California.
Lol he won’t irrigate this, that’s why he waits for the first rain, then during the rainy season is when it grows, when the rainy season is over it will be cut and baled. I am sure in Kansas you plant your wheat every year just the same.
I;ll never see lunch bags the same again. What did the old timers use? Is that why they had so many kids" Love to watch you work. From North Highlands, California. Did the earth quake reach you at all? We didn't feel a thing. Of course we are directly inland from San Fran. Closer to Being central is closer to Nevada. Take care and GodBless. My favorite color is Red.
Why don't have a permanent hayfields because in the Midwest we farms that have a money crop just hay like the state of Oklahoma which created Johnson grass in other words a crop that comes back every year
Just wanna say, I NEVER get tired of watching people feed their livestock.
Same. Here for the cattle 🐮
I always love watching the cow feeding and they being excited. Thanks for the great entertainment again and your great work!😊
Cali is such a good well trained dog

Poor Callie, she's hot, winded, and thirsty. Fantastic job on the fertilizer and hay planting photography.

You always give us lots of interesting angles to watch your work. I can’t imagine how much time that adds to your work.
Glad you beat the rain. Good to see the barn cat is still on site for sure! All looks good on the FTR!

I always enjoy watching you feed your critters. It never gets boring.
Excellent FT. Educational video. A unique way to ensure proper spacing. Thanks for taking us along.
So satisfying knowing your Hayfield is planted. Looking forward to your covering soil over it. It's such pretty countryside. Best of blessings to you and all your family and livestock!
Thanks so much! The planting is always the most satisfying part

Happy Christmas to you and yours, and thanks for feeding us! ❤🎄

Must feel great to have the job of planting the field behind you. Now, let the rain come and just watch it grow!
It came.
So much work getting all those camera angles. Loved that little bit of slo-mo.
Nice to watch Tyler, great job
Thanks Tyler,peace brother…

Rain headed your way FTR ! Hope you make it in time. I have faith you'll make it..
Mighty fine job! 👍😎
Glad to see you use ear protection. It will save your hearing down the road
Love the videos no matter what your doing
My husband needs to invest in this for our cattle.
Thanks 😊
You got that job done. Alright
The Bees will appreciate the vetch!
I wish my dogs would “stay” as well as Callie. Looks like you planted just in time for all the rain this week.
My FFA project was Beardless Wheat.. that had just came out and Vetch mix… as I recall no vetch grew. At that time most of the winter feed crops in the valley were Montezuma Oats.

I was just thinking the same thing. Would love to see the “ lay of the land.”

Hi Tayler try cheese on the bucket mouse trap.

great video thanks. BIG thumbs up. Any idea on what volume that planter is please. It would be a perfect size for my farm.
Anew friend for Callie for xmas
Good Morning, I use the same bucket trap with a dog cage and the bucket inside. My bite is feta cheese 🤠👍🏼
Might have to try it because the peanut butter isn’t doing it!
-25f in Manitoba today. Won’t be planting nothing until may…😢
Wow I can’t even imagine that kind of cold!
You need more barn cats
Definitely!
U need 2 rig your trailer so u can use the ramps on the sides for driving your atv's on & off
Tyler could you use OnX to lay out your planting?
I like your spreader, I have one quite similar, it was designed and built in Ireland. Do you have any way of regulating or monitoring the rotor speed? That looks like one content dog. 😄
If you put feed out for the cats the rodents will also eat it. Cats will not always catch mice if they are not hungry.
GPS is accurate to +/- 6 inches
There's a gps tracking app you can get on your phone that's fairly accurate
I tried it a couple seasons ago and it was terribly inaccurate. I mean like ten feet or more off the mark! It would be cool if it worked
💖💖💖💖💖
Calli was really exhausted as I am sure you were
Total cost of fertilizer and seed for that field?
How many acres do you plant?
That field is somewhere between 35 and 40 acres
Good job
How do pay all ur bills with 42 calves?
He makes more money from U-Tube than farmin

Close enough for ‘government work’.
👏👏🤎

Vetch: cover crop time?
You may have mentioned it previously, but, a perennial variety of hay won't work for you?
Why do you re seed the field every year? Why not just have a hay field and get two/ three cuts a year and save all the soil prep and sowing?
Lol, 9/14/2022😂
Why don't have a permanent hayfields because in the Midwest we farms that have a money crop just hay like the state of Oklahoma which created Johnson grass in other words a crop that comes back every year
You said “Belly”. 😢😢😢
