Well it's definitely not intended to be like a curfew or something like that, they probably just had stuff to do that day, hence why he'd need to be back before dark and whatnot 😭 he definitely doesn't need to ask to leave, and can freely leave whenever, it was probably more of a courtesy thing rather then a genuine question iykwim
