Man I would love to see more content like this. Like a lot more. Its hilarious to me how Greg is like here is this easier to understand way to do something without calculate and I get what he is doing right away. I am curious though if you can always avoid calculate.

Ironic I was just digging into this today building a query; but how can I run this over two categories that average over the value column over a specific date range (DATESINPERIOD; basically getting the last three months)??

      Hello Thoth0Amon,
It's always a little bit difficult to judge and provide the results without looking at the data structure, model and working of the PBIX file for the reference.
And therefore we encourage you to please write back to us onto our Community Forum by providing the proper description of the problem that you're facing along with the PBIX file for the reference as well as the mock-up results that you're trying to achieve where our members as well as experts team will be able to assist you in a better and efficient manner. Below is the link of the forum provided for the reference.
Hoping you find this useful! If you haven't yet, you can subscribe to our TH-cam channel so that you won't miss out on any Power BI & Power Platform updates. You can also join our LinkedIn group to receive latest updates on Power BI.

@@EnterpriseDNA Thanks, I'll check out the Community Forum.
I did find a solution in my particular case; the trick was using ALLEXCEPT nested in a calculated column inside SUMMARIZECOLUMNS. Sort of weird compared to a similar case using SQL where you'd pivot or something, but it works for setting up multiple groupings under one table summary.
The Averaging part was done by using DATESINPERIOD and dividing out the columns by that period.

Make a video where you take raw transactional data and do averages for Year/Quarters/Months/Days/Hours so we can reference it.
