My partner is absolutely obsessed with her. Thank God he could see her earlier this year. It was the highlight of his year if not his life. Wonderful woman with an amazingly ecclectic voice. I wasn't a fan of her at first as I only knew wuthering heights and then more songs came out of the woodwork that is my brain and I knew more than I realised and didn't give this amazing artist credit for some important songs in my life; especially This Woman's Work.
I really like the fact, that she struggles to express herself and is a little bit awkward at these award ceremonies. As she says, the gift she has to give to the world is her music, not her personality. Don't get me wrong, she has a lovely personality, but her music and lyrics are so much more eloquent that anything she has to say in 'real' life. If only other celebrities could take note and follow her example!

I think what you're meaning is that Kate doesn't do "herself", publicly, which is an observation I entirely agree with. She puts an unbelievable amount of effort into performance, and as you can we here, she's very accomplished, comes across as incredibly relaxed and - it's an act. Everything she's doing there is about deflection, she's shining the attention directly subject to her away itoward other people.: McKellen, her kid, everyone else concerned, even the awards designer. Not her. She never does. It's not humility, she's just - still, to this day - intensely private. Happy to perform in public, but never herself.

I don't know why this video was suggested by youtube to me today, but that's just fine... Not that I am objective, but this woman, Kate, has the capacity to enchant people by what that magical mind of hers comes up with. And especially with her latest albums after the 12 year abcense. I feel she has taken the time to come to rest as an artist and used her magnificent ability to absorb new and other inspirations. Becoming a mother certainly had its influence. With Aerial, especially A Sky Of Honey, she approaches subjects with the unprejudiced view of a child. It stirs up that child in me as well. Critics who write her off for this, are not in her league, yet. To me the later work has a much more natural flow by this than the work beforehand. And that already was of such quality! The Before The Dawn shows also have proven her skill to produce art in such a pure and honest way, I let her force me to look inside and marvel the wonders and enigmas of existance. It is this I respect so much when thinking of Kate Bush. She deserved that award and so much more. Thank you for being in my life since early 1978, Kate.

I understand why she's withholding it for now-people would rather buy the DVD right away instead of the cd or vinyl. You're welcome to your opinion but I hope the dvd is released. I knew someone who said the he loved Kate Bush so much that it scared him. And when she did a very rare press release appearance in Toronto in 1985, the interviewer was so obviously smitten that he was nervously fidgeting and blushing like a schoolboy. I have to admit, i am an experienced musician and there aren't any pop stars that could really make me that nervous if I met tbem.. except one...
Lucky people who got to attend these shows. An unpopular opinion as many want a bluray of the shows, but you know what would make these shows more special, no bluray. Let it be a memory of something special, unspoiled by repeated living room viewing.

Many people can't go over her early stuff, it's too artsy for them. It took me some years to to get into it, I am so glad I did when I did :D.
