- Scooter mechanics hatin on me for giving away this speed secret . There is 15 seconds of footage missing of me breaking loose 8 bolts by the socket wrench and grabbing the cordless battery . You have to pull the clutch towards you to compress that spring and get the belt in there. no one mentioned that in any videos i saw but this is for anyone hitting the wall. It took me 4 hrs to figure out you have to compress the clutch pulley by pulling it towards you and putting the belt on the clutch first or the belt will not fit. i thought my belt was too small. She's running now though. Thanks again for telling me the size nut on the variator and clutch, my friend!
Your welcome ! I got tired of muscling the clutch pully and a dozen belts later realized I didn't have to do that . This way you don't have to be Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to change the belt . . . Unless the belt shreds apart then you have to do it the old way .

Once i realized what i was dealing with it was a ''should i break this 20 some mm nut loose on the clutch and possibly get knocked out from that compressed spring"? Thank God i looked at the way the belt would have to run constantly and thought there has to be a ''tensioner" type way to get this belt on. I've built and fixed many a car, but felt pretty humbled when i made that discovery! Much love, my friend! Cheers!
Disclaimer: Anyone who has never, nor have the experience, qualification, etc..... try to break the big nut loose on the inside of the clutch housing (not the 14mm housing bolt, the biggest one holding the huge spring inside. Shiny brass color, close to an oxygen sensor wrench size on a car. At least 20mm, i guess around 24mm.)

I was riding today. Nice hot day. Heard a quick and small pop sound on the road. Scooter stopped accelerating. I figure my belt popped after over 2k miles.
Pushed it home. Got on TH-cam to see how hard it'll be to change the belt. This was the first video I found.
I was glad to see it was short and to the point. I hate channels with long intro's and diatribes and telling me to subscribe and thumb up.
I haven't opened my scooter up yet to see if it's the belt, because I had to write this.

For the majority of scoots with 8/10mm bolts on the belt housing the best thing you can buy is a 1/4" extension bar about 8-12" long with a T-handle and some 1/4" sockets. Allows you to spin the bolts out in seconds. Same putting them back. Also, when re-fitting the nut on the variator use a drop or two of blue loctite. Because, and I speak from experience here, it's no fun when your miles from home and it works loose. Which you might think is impossible if it's been tightened by a rattle gun, but believe me it's not.

Second, most moped and scooter riders do not purchase kevlar belts(my 11yr old being one of them). So maybe you'll know the answer to my problem, my belt broke, I put a new one on it and I'm not getting too speed anymore. I noticed my new belt is a little wider then the old one. Of course the old one is worn down tho. It kinda feels like maybe belt slip sometimes too? Almost like It would if the engine was putting, but engine is running fine. Idk if you know what I mean but if you can get back to me I'll reply rather fast.
699 18 30 The 699 is the belt diameter. The 30 is the angle of the V in the belt. And the 18 is how wide the belt is. A belt too wide will make off the line performance sluggish all the way to top speed . I had bought a belt that was to fit my scooter but it was a fake name brand belt and my problem was the same . If the angle of the belt is too much or too little this will make the belt slip . But accidentally getting oil and grease on the pulleys or belt will also cause slipping . Otherwise if all looks good then the slipping may be a faulty clutch .
@@scooterfpv8864 as odd as this sounds, i fixed it by taking a piece of sand paper and roughing up the sides of the belt just a little bit. In sure the belt was an off brand fake belt. I had the exact same dimensions as the previous belt but it seemed wider. Which i just thought the old belt was hella wore down and the new one was nornal size. After i roughed up the belt a little and put about 20 30 miles on it everything turned back to normal

699 18 30 but if ordering online a replacement I would suggest a reputable site and be wary of some ebay sellers . I ordered a Bando belt like that and the width was too wide . Later there was a post by Bando stating there were fake copies going around .
What size nut is that on the plate you remove? Thanks!
The Drive pully on the crank shaft is a 17 millimeter. The CVT cover bolts are 8 mm . Cheers !

Hello and thank you for your comment . I cannot answer your question because I do not know if your scooter is cross compatible with the Peace Motor sport QMB139 power train . The only reason I have left this video up and running is number one , to help out the people who cannot afford to take their scooter to a mechanic and need to change their CVT Belt quickly and to give them quick guidance to the tools needed . Yes I have been trained and certified by the United States Government as a D.O.T. service station mechanic . Also in spite of negative people who are arm chair " know it all mechanics with out merit " of the world who give this video a thumbs down negative review . It is proper to check the weight rollers during drive belt exchange . My weight rollers are in need of replacement as I can hear a point of hesitation climbing a hill . For this video that step was ommited for fast belt drive changing . This my secondary scooter still needs replacements (^^);
Hi man. I bought a 50cc 2 stroke scooter cvt that has been modified with70cc sports cylinder, technigas exhaust, sport variator, upgear kit, and was unrestricted. What i noticed just yesterday was that it runs fine and fast on flat but when i drove to a steep road from a stop with no momentum, my scooter couldn't bear it and won't move on full throttle and seems like it is bogging down. Do i need to change to a stiffer clutch spring like 1500 or 2000? New to scooters so i really appreciate any help😀
Kinda hard for me to diagnose without being there to witness what's going on . Could be a lot of things that have the same result in what you said . A slipping belt , bad compression , slipping clutch , stuck roller weights , wrong size drive belt , fuel starvation , etcetera . You could change the clutch spring but on my modded qmb139 the extra power combined with the stiffer spring I ended up replacing the drive belt a LOT more often . If you plan on racing and are replacing the belt every race day then it's an option but for day to day going to work and such I would get a set of different lighter roller weights and do some testing to see what ones you like . I have a NCY 81 cc High compression motor and I'm running 6.5 grams per roller weight on mine . I wouldn't go lower then 4 grams at the lightest , and over 8 grams you risk breaking the star plate on the variator eventually . Hope that gets you pointed n the right direction .
Scooter BuuGuu it just had a serviced and had it's drive belt change and it feels quicker on take off than before. It just on uphills that i am having trouble. Bit no issues going uphill when i have momentum going up. Thanks man
