Such a gem of a tip! I've been running ads the old way and it does indeed hurt my overall retention. Genius idea about making the videos unlisted. Thank you!
I was actually thinking about the number reason why people fail on YT ads, and that setting that you recommend is the key!! I was thinking the same, because in that way I will not mix my organic growth with my ads!
There’s nothing wrong with ads but absolutely no customer wants 2 ads per as session and 5 to 10 ads through the entire video. Depending on length. No one absolutely no one wants to watch a 1 hour long ad and they used to skip themselves but it’s disruptive when your listening to something, have to skip the ad because while driving or working when it’s frustrating to have to skip 20 ads while listening to content or music.
Literally just followed the step-by-step instructions for our channel and set up the in-feed ads. Watched, learned, applied. Can't thank you enough, Aleric!!
I was getting thousands of views. Then I hired a guy from upwork to run ads and all of a sudden I'm down to 20 views on most of my videos. I regret hiring that guy. Not only did he use my actual videos, he also showed my videos to people in Pakistan, India and Brazil. Be careful with people you hire.
Thanks for the comment! It really depends on what your goal is. If you're looking to promote a video, then keep that video public and run it as an in-feed ad to get more viewers, and have people "naturally" discover it on TH-cam. If you're trying to get people to take action (purchase a product or service, or sign up for a training which gets them into your funnel), then you'll be better off running an in-stream ad, which you should leave as an unlisted video on your channel. I wouldn't say either is better per say, it really just depends on what you're trying to do. Either way, keep the videos that you're looking to run as in-stream ads as unlisted on your channel!
Not only is this great content, but your scripting and delivery should be studied by everyone who wants to succeed in this space. Brilliantly executed video!
Thanks for leaving a comment! Generally, we recommend running ads on unlisted videos so that it doesn't affect your channel's overall watch time, and impact channel performance. Hope this helps!
Glad you liked the video! And yeah, to be honest it can be hard to make videos for Google Ads since they're always changing things up haha. I do have a video on setting up In-Feed ads that could come in handy with that though!
Some ads is good for promoting, but over done , no one is going to watch it and they are adding a bad experience. Honestly if theirs too many ads I’ll just not watch it
I think ads help promote and help channels but when it’s way over done it can totally mess up the interest. When I get four adds in a row when trying to watch something I just stop watching it, due to the double adds all TH-cam’s starting to do , that are an hour long.
Fantastic stuff. I used a TH-cam ad on 2 of my videos and they performed terribly as far as engagement in comparison to the rest of my videos. So I stopped using them altogether.
wow i was running them on public and was only getting the most 30 seconds of them watching before leaving, is there a way to come back from this or is my channel cooked?
I’d recommend switching to the method we describe in the video & that should help your watch time increase over time. TH-cam heavily weights the last 28 days - so give it a month & numbers should improve for you
NGL a lot of yall will lose growth because all these ads are crazy…and when a 30second or longer ad pops up, I just turn the video off and move on…greed is going to destroy this platform 💯

Thanks for your video, but which is better: running a Google ad on an unlisted video or using a feed ad?

i did youtube ads in my other channel - then 1 video who has been viral and recomended - lost its recomendation
Should you run the ads on a unlisted video or a public video

Unlisted videos can’t be found in Google Search, but they can be embedded into other webpages, hope this helps!

@@AlericHeckYT yup I actually ended up watching that one right after I saw this video and followed the steps. Thanks bro!

I'm in the same situation with you, just stop the ad and continue growing your channel normally, it will adjust itself with time.
