As someone also just slowly (and what a joy it is) discovering Kpop recently I'd like to correct you:
Stray Kids have an UNREASONABLE amount of good music given how long they have been active! I don't mean quantity but their hit rate of songs that are just 10/10... that shouldn't be a thing! As a music group I feel you NEED to put out a few 'meh it's ok' songs every now and then just so it seems like you're human. In my experience so far Stray Kids need to chill with the hit rate 😋

The school bus has two purposes.
    1. It was featured in their debut song District 9 and has the debut date 325 on the side.
    2. It is paying homage to the Dark Knight Batman movie opening scene with the clown masks.

the video depicts them as children afraid to be in front of an audience. they get the confidence to "feel the rock". the bus is for the kids.

Think everyone else covered all the producing stuff etc! You won't regret checking their stuff out but be warned there's a lot!!!

Here is the thing I'm discovering about Kpop (and I'm new to it): Kpop isn't so much a genre as it is a way of making music and the trick for Kpop is not to 'get into Kpop' but to find what style of music/kpop you enjoy and find a group or two who make that kind of music.
In that regard you're approaching Kpop 100% in a good way imo 👍

    • @cassc23
      @cassc23 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

@DarkHarlequin 100% Kpop is just the umbrella of Korean Popular music and a lot of people have a misconception that it's all the same and a genre. It's full of a lot of different styles, yes a lot of similarities with some groups but that's Pop music for you lol. For me Stray Kids just hit a spot and think it's because they mix so many genres and make it sound & feel good ( I believe they started the what's called Mala Taste genre) I quite like singular or a few songs here and there from other Kpop groups but Stray kids it's pretty much or is all their songs I like lol

    • @DarkHarlequin
      @DarkHarlequin 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

@@cassc23 That's the thing though I wish I could get across (but ofc people are stubborn in their conceptions): whatever your musical taste, I'm almost 100% there is a kpop group for you! You just gotta be open and find it.
You more into upbeat harmonic boyband than this? TxT is essentially founded on that! You're a real Hip-Hop head who likes base? NCT127 exist. You enjoy calmer R&B? A.C.E. and Sunmi got you. You're saying you Kpop isn't for you cause you like classical music? EXO or INFINITE use tons of classical music in their tracks. You're a diehard classic Rock fan? Dreamcatcher is all about mixing Rock with other genres.
You just like experimental music trying all kinds of novel things? You could always invest the (joyful) weeks/months of your life it takes to follow me in becoming a Shinee fan 😁
I wish I could really make people open up to that idea. There is so much joy and creative music to be discovered for almost anyone I believe 💕🤗

In case you want to learn more about Stray Kids.........
3Racha - Stray Kids' main writing and production unit, consisting of Bang Chan (the leader of Stray Kids), Changbin and Han
They formed as a rap group before Stray Kids formed, and wrote and produced their own music. When the final members for Stray Kids were chosen, 3Racha was absorbed into the group. They write and produce the vast majority of the music for Stray Kids. But all 8 members have written music for the group, and a few of the members (besides 3Racha) are now also producing some of the songs.
    ----------------------------------
Stray Kids debuted in 2018. They started out with 9 members (so in their early videos, you'll see 9 people performing) but Woojin left in Oct 2019 and Stray Kids have been an 8-member group ever since.
    ----------------------------------
Bang Chan, Changbin and Han still perform as 3Racha for certain awards shows and events, separately from Stray Kids. They also have several of their own songs / videos posted on TH-cam. The 3Racha members are highly prolific writers and producers and have started winning awards as such.
    ----------------------------------
DanceRacha - Stray Kids' main dance unit, consisting of Hyunjin, Felix, and Lee Know
    ----------------------------------
VocalRacha - their main vocal unit, consisting of Seungmin and I.N
    ----------------------------------
Main rappers - Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix (the deep-voiced guy) - but unlike many K-pop groups, all 8 members can and have rapped, depending on the song.
    ----------------------------------
Vocalists......I listed their main vocal unit above, but again.....all 8 members have great singing voices and they switch around on lead vocals, depending on the song
    ----------------------------------
Dancers......main ones listed above, but all 8 members can dance very well
    ----------------------------------
    Languages:
Bang Chan (the leader of the group) and Felix (deep-voiced guy) are both Australian, so English is their first language. The other 6 members speak English with varying degrees of fluency.
All 8 members are fluent in both Korean and Japanese. The group can sing and rap in all three languages.
    ----------------------------------
Not all of their music is hard. They also sing beautiful ballads, have performed a number of songs for K-drama soundtracks, and have written / performed some songs for an anime called Tower of God. They also collaborate with / produce for other idol groups and individual singers from Korea, Japan, China, Thailand and the U.S.

That's how they hit us. At the age of 56, who knew I would become a fan of a bunch of sweet little kiddos who turn into something fierce rapping, rock and rolling, singing and dancing like crazy. They also have very mellow romantic songs such as Leave, Because etc. They also have sexy material like Drive and Red Lights. They all are aces. Such great talent and cuteness should be illegal. I'm pretty sure they make music and videos for the neurodivergent because they're ONE OF US!! As a member of the community and someone who has worked closely with the community for most of my adult life (psych major, disability studies minor, worked as an employment specialist for a year, autistic support assistant teacher for 9 month, lead infant/toddler teacher for 2.5 years working closely with service providers for several students, working toward an autism specialist cert) those boys are all dome flavor of neurospicy whether they know it or not!!! They're called Stray Kids because they all felt like stray kids in this world. Like, their NAME is telling us they're for us!! Stray Kids everywhere all around the world isn't talking about the band being everywhere its talking about how those of us who feel like stray kids are everywhere and we are in this together. We're not alone! They see us and are inviting us in to their safe space

Absolutely One Piece, Pirates of the Caribbean, Attack on Titans, Mad Max Thunder Dome, and Dark Knight. Stray Kids have a lore and does a concept of multiverse so if you like Anime, Inception, and Marvel you'll love them. They have a lot of movie references in all their videos and a lot are intertwined with each other because of the multiverse. The bus references Dark Knight and their Debut District 9 and 3-25 is a date you will see a lot too because that's when the debuted. Social Path with LiSA (not from BlackPink) is a great one too. It's a Japanese version . She does a lot of Anime openings.

Everything Stray Kids is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Yes, they are kpop, but defy every thing you think you know about that industry. They, unapologetically, do things their way, with style, class, and just a bit of confidence sprinkled with humility. Globally, they hit every mark. Some listeners just don't open their ears to their genius and that's unfortunate.
Thanks for the reaction. I think you can safely say that you can find something in their huge discography of almost 200 self produced songs.

SKZ are an incredibly unique kpop group - all 8 members can sing, dance, rap, write, etc. Rather than being picked by the company, the leader, Bang Chan, chose each member and was given a chance to showcase his choices with music they wrote themselves. Their songs are nearly all written, produced, and composed by three of the members, Bang Chan, Changbin and Han (the production subunit is known as 3racha - the three members each well over 100 copywrites under KOMCA) and the rest are written by the other members here and there. They are self made in every way that counts. They don't stick to any one genre, rather, they mix and meld and create their own from bits of seemingly disparate music styles, somehow still managing to make it all cohesively THEIR SOUND. It's incredible and I'm so fucking proud of them as a group. I've got WAY too much knowledge about them, but ISTG if I start, I'll never stfu, so yeah. Check out more of their stuff bc you have SO MUCH to discover.

A breakdown of the MV for you. I think the giant figures represent Fear & stage fright. (They also seem to be based on Japanese spirits of drowned sailors called Umibozu) They dissipate when the words of the emotions in the children's heads disappear. I believe the floating characters are the words Joy, Anger, Sorrow, and Happiness/pleasure. (This is what I have been told. It seems to be a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and I can read none of those.) There are four factions for four groups of the members. Since the four factions represented emotions, the locations were different. Anger was at the bottom of the ocean. It's a dense emotion that we try to smother & it thrives under pressure. The members who represent this emotion are pirates. Joy was a bank. It's an emotion that we store & take out for special things. The members that represent this emotion are in denim, but surrounded by clowns who look like the ones from the Dark Knight. Sorrow was a stark place of floating ash and monuments that were like graves. The members who represent this emotion are in pale & washed out colors mixed with white. Happiness/Pleasure was in a fort of musical instruments. It's an emotion that's loud & messy. We hear it before we see it. The members who represent this emotion look a lot like people from Mad Max mixed with military.
Now. Anger attacked Joy first. They bypassed Sorrow altogether. (You can see this in the map they showed.) But it didn't turn out. Anger was defeated & captured. That was the first word to dissipate. The next to fall was Joy. Happiness/Pleasure snuck in disguised as clowns & planted a bomb. (We saw I.N talking on a communicator & one of the clowns also had one. He later takes off the mask as he leaves revealing it's Han, yet you can also see pirate Han still tied on the floor behind him.) The bomb went off. Since the bus was in both Joy & Sorrows' realms (Back half in Joy, front in Sorrow. We can't have one of those emotions without having felt the other.) we see the explosion as the camera pans to Sorrow, and the word for Joy dissipates as well. Sorrow falls & we see that Happiness/Pleasure is all that remains. They have gathered parts of the other emotions & folded them into their own. Happiness/Pleasure is very nuanced. It can contain elements of the other emotions and still be the same.
Also. I think Lee Know said (In the video with them reacting to the music video) that the children are them when they were young. And over the years these emotions that they felt at varying times have been "defeated" and all that's left is pleasure in their music. The sequence of emotions & dissipation of said emotions seems to mirror their own journey. When they first started, everything was pretty evenly balanced. They hit a few hard times & anger kinda made an appearance, but then they started enjoying things more....Then Woojin left & sorrow took hold for a while. But they came out of that better balanced, and now are taking pleasure in their work once again. Currently they take pleasure in their work, it's tempered with the other emotions, but the dominating drive they have is happiness & pleasure. The lyrics of the song are about locking away your stress & meeting the world with fun & music.
The bus is an interesting thing. As well as being between the the factions of Joy & Sorrow (The back part was fully in Joy's section....But the front was in Sadness. Almost as if it had crashed into it.) , it's actually a call back to their beginning. And it's not the one from District 9, it's the one from Grow Up that was heading to District 9. I do think the District number being 325 is significant. Since that is the debut date, it has now become the beginning district. It WAS district 9 for the 9 of them, but that has changed over the years. And it is no longer just them. They invited ALL of us in in Back Door. At the beginning, it was small & sheltered. They were very careful of their district. But as they grew in confidence, they threw the notice out to everyone who wants to enter...All we have to do is knock.
And Felix didn't swear. Felix is saying the Korean word for Shh. I believe it's Swit? So it's a work around on the no swearing rule. Stray Kids love homophones. I mean, look at the title for the album & this song. It means happiness/pleasure in Chinese. But it sounds like the English word "rock". So the album is Rock Star, and it's all about emotions. Every song on this album is designed to touch our emotions in different ways.

Love watching people find Stray Kids 😍 if you like Anime, the mv for Thunderous is something you’ll wanna see. Honestly you can’t miss with Stray Kids. Some of their best song/music video combos are Venom, Freeze, S-Class, Gods Menu, Charmer and Item (neither have a music video but I already know you’d love both and you could do the color coded lyrics and learn who is who in the process) also this mv had Pirates of the Caribbean, Attack on Titan and the Dark Knight references (joker purple suits, bank explosion, etc)

I feel so late finding this but... The thing about Kpop is that it isn't a genre, it's an industry and within that industry, the groups/artists take so many different genres and mesh them together to make unique sounds you don't usually hear anywhere else. You just need to find the group creating the sound you love.

They make their own music! Recommend God's Menu, S-Class, and Thunderous for that big cinematic title track music video vibe. For other songs, there's literally too many that are worth checking out to list.
I think you might like to check out Muddy Water, Red Lights, Cover Me, Up All Night, Awaken, and Megaverse to get a general sense of how insane their range is. They're their own style, but those songs show off how well they hit any genre!
Have fun and welcome to the circus.

Stray Kids are the BEST 🔥
I'm 31years old woman who thought like "kpop is for teenagers, kpop sounds plastic to my ears, kpop is not real music it's bunch of noisesblablabla"...
But when I meet(on yt) Stray Kids in the middle of the pandemic I was so shocked and mesmerized😮
Like wtf is that?!how 8 of young man can sing+rap+dance+produce+write lyrics+doing everything perfectly by themselves?!😅
and I take a time to check other kpop groups but Istg it's not the same feelings..they are best of the BEST🙏🏻
they even created their own music genre and now most of the new artists uses the same genre 😮
I recommend you to check their full discography and even dance practice videos, those guys are literally fire 🤙🏻

So I appreciate that you wanna make sure to capture all the details. Loved this reaction! So fun. This is def one of their best songs and best MVs. Check out God's Menu, Venom, Maniac, Megaverse. Side Effects is a trip. Victory Song is a great older song. If you like the anime vibe you should watch their Anime OST called TOP (Japanese version) it's a great song, great choreo, great MV that isn't talked about enough.

I get what you mean fs but I wish reactors would watch the whole video first AND THEN go back and pause it because it would help them with some of their questions and not miss anything. Like the bus part, if he wouldve watched till the end and took more of an interest then he couldve figured out the kids were performing at school and facing their fears of stage fright. Yk?...sometimes just show they understand the meaning behind the work.

From my intepretation and what ive read/hear - The school boys represent the stray kids as they were younger. they are fighting against their emotions ( the korean characters that dissolve throughout the MV = happiness. sadness, anger and Pleasure) and the final character is left is Pleasure. Which to me denotes that they find pleasure in what they do as artists and entertainers :)

The school buss is a reference to their debut, in their debut song the mv started with a school buss from which they got off and the numbers on the buss is the month and day they debuted "03" representing March and "25" being the 25th day of March,on the buss is also written District which I belive is a reference to their debut song "District 9". The group originally had 9 members but unfortunately one left, the reason was undisclosed. They make their own music and the producing team is called 3RACHA and consists of their leader Bang Chan, their main rapper and sub vocalist Changbin and their ace or all rounder Han. Kpop groups usually have a story they tell trough mvs (tho the timeline and exact story line is very complicated and even stay kids themselves don't know their lore exactly).

    "The Thunderous ones are here!"
Hey! Thank you for your reaction friend!
Stray Kids is an 8 members group gather by the lider of the group Bang Chan (this is the only k-pop group formed this way. Usually the label company decides who gets to be the members of a group)
Stray Kids are self-produced. They create 99% of they're music and are also very involved in the choreography creation.
The group has debuted in 25/03/18 and the members are:
Bang Chan (The Lider) , Changing and Han. They are also known as the producers and songwriters - 3Racha subunit.
Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix also known by the name of- Dance Racha subunit . All of them have solo songs composed by themselves.
Seugmin and In as the Vocal Racha subunit. They have released solo and cover songs.
They all are skilled in dancing, they all can rapp or sing and lately all of them are getting intrested in songwriting and producing.
Lalalala is the title track of their last came back that just dropped around a mounth ago!
If you enjoyed it you should also check out some other really good music that they have such as Megaverse, S Class, Topline, Maniac, Venom, Frezze, God's Menu, Domino, All In, Social Path, Charmer , Get Lit, ITEM Super Bowl (eng version), Comflex, Double Knot, Back Door, Ta, Easy, All In, Miroh .... Etc.
If you want to hear something less hard striking songs you should go on TMI, FNF, The Sound, Christmas Evel, Case 143, Blinde Spot, Peacemaker... Etc
If you enjoy more soft ones you can check out Chill, Blue Print, There, Your Eyes, B Me, Gone Days, Ex, I am you, Oh, On Track.....etc
Songs that can crush your heart are the ones of Han solo's and also Lonely St, Leave, Cover me, Winter Falls, Secret Secret, Levanter, Scars, Youtiful, Phobia, Silent Cry.... Etc
And if you want the hot ones i strongly recommend Red Lights, Drive, Taste (Dance performance) The fandom won't miss those ones.
Mostly rap- 3Racha, Heyday, Muddy Waters (performance) Runner's High, I got it( Han), Mirror Mirror (Milli, F Hero ft Changbin), Rock, Mirror.... Etc
I also recommend they're pre-debute song Hellevator and they're debut song District 9!!!
Believe me my friend... The list could continue forever cuz they're discography is no skipping song at all.
Every song that you will listen will blow your mind for sound, lyrics, visuals, choreography, words play.... And also have excellent acting skills!
They are amazing and i guarantee for an excellent experience 100%
    The fandom name is Stay.
I have subscribed and cannot wait to see which one you choose!! 💥
💙S͓̽t͓̽r͓̽a͓̽y͓̽K͓̽i͓̽d͓̽s͓̽💙 everywhere all around the world!
A little update.... you should check out the stage performance for Asia Artist Awards and the stage performance for Golden Disc Award 2024.They killed it so hard...that only them can ever rematch that hipe energy ! Crazy. I'm still in disbelief how they can improve in just days.... 🤩😍

Stray kids is a k-pop group.
And actually about this bus.. there is 2, obvious for stays, (Stray kids fandom name) reasons:
    1. They recreated scene from film called dark knight, where Joker is rubbing a bank on bus.
    2. In their debut song they escape to their district (song is called district 9) by bus.
Also on one of the scenes you can see number 325 on the side of the bus. It refers to their debut, which was on march 25th.
And one more thing... You said you like anime.. Stray kids have done an opening and an ending for anime called "Tower of God" (don't know if you heard about it before). Songs are Top (opening) and Slump (ending). I thought it would be cool to check out for you later.
P.S. Excuse me my grammar. I'm not a native English speaker..

Welcome to Stray Kids! Yes, they are part of the KPOP industry. There are eight members, including six from South Korea and two of Korean descent who were raised in Australia. Three of the members make up the production team 3Racha, and they have 150+ songwriting credits, but all eight members have songwriting credits. They've been doing their own thing since 2018. They've tried more than 40 difference genres, so there's something for everyone. You can't go wrong with whatever you choose to watch next, but God's Menu really put them on the map, and Thunderous, Venom, Easy, Get Lit, and the most recent mv Megaverse are all worth a look! Thanks for giving our Stray Kids a chance. Enjoy!

Where did the school bus come from? Watch their debut song District 9 and find out 😁. Stray Kids really are performance masters, you should see their live performances. They remix their songs for awards shows and put on one heck of a show. I'm so happy you've discovered them- I had the same reaction when I found them, just blew me out the water and it was so fun getting into their music. This song is the title track from their most recent album Rock Star/ 樂 star, another great song from that album is Megaverse and they have a live performance of it on their channel which I highly recommend. They make their own music, beats and all, and are so creative with the lyrics. This song has word play across three languages (Korean, Chinese, and English) and the meanings are almost always multi-layered. It was really fun watching you enjoy this, I hope you check out some more ☺.

    They debuted in 2018
    They are ages 22 - 26
They are unique for several reasons...
First, the leader Bang Chan was allowed by JYP to hand pick all of the members himself. They were not placed together in a traditional way, by the company.
Second all of them are all arounders. They can all sing, rap, dance, produce and write.
Third, they have written and produced about 99% of their music.
Numbers of songs each member has copyrighted according to Korean Music Association numbers so far...
    KOMCA numbers...
Bang Chan 180 (#3 in KPop)
    Changbin 152 (#11)
    Han 148 (#12)
    Hyunjin 22
    Felix 21
    Seungmin 19
    I.N 19
    Lee Know 17
While they can all do everything they do have 3 different subunits...
3Racha... Bang Chan, Chang Bin and Han which are the main producers. They are always credited as 3Racha
3Racha just won their first award for their production and writing work from Asian Artists Awards for Best Creator.
Danceracha... Lee Know (he is a former backup dancer for BTS and in charge of leading dance practices), Felix and Hyunjin
    Vocalracha... Seungmin and I.N
While the songs are hype they always have significant meaning to them. Their lyricism is always insane.
Since they are so experimental their sound has its own genre and they have a very diverse discography.
Example... Gods Menu, Back Door and Case 143 all completely different sounds.

Found you on my feed because I LOVE Stray Kids! Anyway, the school bus scene is a nod to The Joker. The video is awesome. You see the air bubbles when they are in an under water scene, you see embers when they are in the fire scene. The children on stage are a total of eight, for me it represents the members of the group which are 8. And I interpret the monsters as stage fright or something to that affect. I'm glad you found them and enjoyed them also :)

I have been watching your reactions for a bit now and I have never seen you get this hyped and excited. I have also never seen your cheeks get red but it could also be from the wine :P I am subscribing for more Stray Kids! I really enjoy and connect with your genuine vibe and honesty, where some reactors come off a certain way. I discovered Blackpink and BTS back in early 2020 but it wasn't until June 2020 that I discovered Stray Kids and it was a game changer and over for me. They became my ultimate group because they strayed away from traditional K-pop sounds and brought something different to the table besides being just hip-hop-focused. I have never been so passionate and excited about a group in my life. They're known for their experimental hype beats but they have a wide range of different genres within their discography. Recommendations Gods Menu, Megaverse, SClass, Easy, Venom, Freeze. Looking forward to more reactions!

LOVE your enthusiasm and yes, this is KPOP!! When you realize all of Straykids music is made, produced, composed, and written by 3 of the guys in the group (Bang Chan - leader, Changbin, and Han), your mind is going to be BLOWN. Read their lyrics carefully and watch their explanations and you'll appreciate their music even more. In this LALALALA video, they are playing on the 4 key emotions with 1 in particular winning. Hi! Loved your reaction! Welcome to Stray Kids! To answer your question- Yes technically, Stray Kids is classified in the K-pop genre, but Stray Kids is also much more than that cause the members of Stray Kids write, compose and produce their own music rather than leaving it up to the record label. Out of a total of 8 members, 3 members (Bangchan or the leader, Changbin and Han) are the producing team of Stray Kids and their subunit is called 3Racha (yes hahaha, 3Racha is supposed to sound like Sriracha sauce cause their music is spicy hot!) In fact, the discography of Stray Kids is an entire different genre in itself because they constantly switch up flows, beats and tempos. Plus, Stray Kids also switches up the genre in one song. That's why they are geniuses cause they not only have songs of a particular genre, they also mix up genres in one song. They often mix up genres like rock, hip-hop, RnB, boombap, dubstep, jazz, rap, hardcore edm, trap rap, acoustic ballad etc. They are a largely experimental group and experiment with music, thats why their discography is called the Mixed Taste or "Mala" Genre. Plus Stray Kids is an all-rounder group which means although they have subunits, all 8 members are lyricists, music composers, music producers, dancers, rappers and vocalists. They are extremely talented.
