    Guitarist Joel Shoemaker is on Bass @ 2:28 - he passed away 13 years ago today, on April 1, 2006. He was a virtuoso guitarist and a good guy, he taught me how to play. RIP Joel.

    I was at this show but can't believe it was around 34 years ago. Aussie singer Col Joye was the compere and saw Jerry Lee off the stage, and to my surprise Col performed well. It was a mixed bill. I can only remember an appearance by Mary Wilson, Ex-Supremes and I think Lesley Gore. Maybe Chuck Berry too! I guess more of the performers appear on these youtube clips. Will probably check. Trev.

    Backstage at a gig, Lennon fell to the floor and kissed
    the rock’n’roller’s feet. The feeling wasn’t mutual: “I never did care
    for the Beatles all that much, to tell the truth,” Lewis later remarked.

      2 kings in rock n roll piano jerry lee lewis and little Richard
      1 king in rock n roll guitare Chuck berry
      Elvis is only a good singer he is not musician he Never did intro or solo whith a guitar and when he tries to play piano it is funy. Elvis is very good For slow like the platters .
      But rock n roll is rythm.
      People Who like playing and singing or dancing rock n roll know that it is more difficult to play and sing or to dance on a jerry lee s song or little richard than an elvis song.
      2 others people iunclassable fats domino and gay charles.

    Perhaps never a better illustration of the difference between Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley. Had Presley have performed here in Melbourne Australia, do you think he would have required a huge support act? I mean how much higher do you think Elvis' name would have appeared above people like Jerry Lee, The Everly Brothers and Chuck Berry? As good as they were, they were not in Elvis' league.

    • @realdiamondshow
      @realdiamondshow 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having a support act would be the choice of the promoter, not the act.
      As for Chuck Berry, he had more talent than Elvis ever had. He wrote most of his own songs... and Elvis wrote nothing decent..... he had a short career and disappeared when the Beatles hit America.

    • @hirdy6
      @hirdy6 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Hylton I used the word required, who chooses the support act has bugger all to do with it however, you really think when a performer like Presley is involved, the promotor tells him who his support act will be? My point was regarding drawing power, who do you reckon would draw more people? Presley or Chuck Berry? Presley hardly disappeared after the Beatles arrived, he still holds records for attendances to his shows in the '70s. Try to stick to facts and try to stay on subject.

    • @realdiamondshow
      @realdiamondshow 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hirdy6
      Well, hello TH-cam police! OK lets stick with the facts! It was 1989 and Elvis couldn't draw a crowd at all...He was bloody DEAD!

    • @realdiamondshow
      @realdiamondshow 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      hirdy6 Just sticking to the facts like you suggested. Fact 1. Elvis was dead. Fact 2. Elvis never performed outside the USA. Fact 3. Elvis watched all the contemporary black performers and copied them. Fact 4. in 1989 all these performers were well past their prime anyway...and probably couldn't have performed for 2 hrs. Elvis is dead dude.. Get over it!
