I gave UPSC CSE 2022's Mains with Zoology optional, and some points I can admit are- 1)The syllabus of this optional is quite humongous. In my case, it got finally covered in the gap of Prelims and Mains. 2) One needs to practice diagram separately, along with the content. In Zoology we say- "An answer without diagram is like a building without brick!". In some topics like Development Biology, Comparative Anatomy, etc., colourful diagrams are also expected. 3) Despite being a Science optional, it doesn't have concrete record to produce high scores. My Optional paper went fine, still i haven't got interview call. Will have to see how my optional fared.
I will apply for upsc civil service examination on 2023 yaer. But I have a quiry so I request you to please sovel the quiry. The quiry is i am a amritdhari sikh and i wear all 5 kakars like kirpan or kadda according to the religious symbols so can I wear all kakars during upsc civil service's exam and in the eaxmination hall.

@SOL INFORMATION...Yes...of course...there's no restriction on this in upsc....even during interview kakars are allowed.
