SAN BERNARDINO- CHP alongside of Rialto Police Department conducted an Illegally Passing a School Bus Enforcement in the Cities of San Bernardino, Rialto, and Muscoy. The goal of this enforcement was not to write tickets to motorists but to inform them of the dangers and laws regarding passing a school bus while the stop sign and red lights are flashing. A CHP officer and a Rialto Police officer rode on a decoy bus with no children on the bus and informed waiting officers of vehicles passing the school bus illegally. CHP and Rialto Police gave out 11 verbal warnings and 4 citations. Many of the motorists knew they did something wrong but was just in a rush to get to work or drop the kids off at school. The response from the community via CHP’s twitter account was very positive and the community was happy to see the officers out and informing drivers. While this operation was happening, there was another similar operation in the City of San Bernardino with a bus with kids on a normal school route. It is unknown the results of the other enforcement.

Im sure cars will stop then and if they dont then its a ticket in my book. But in these videos everyone that got pulled over were in the middle of the street were the bus stopped. Im trying to say that if the moms are so scared of accidents, then kids shouldnt walk to the market, to the park or anywhere because an accident can happen. Not only during school hours or when the bus is dropping them off. Its all irrelevant to me. But thats my opinion. There are some specific exceptions, but any sworn peace officer in the state is considered to be a state peace officer, regardless of their employing agency (whether it be city, county, state, and even public districts). So typically speaking any of them can stop, cite, and/or arrest you anywhere within the state for violating any of the state codes (most commonly the Penal Code and the Vehicle Code). Federal officers don't fall into this category....their authority is nationwide though only for violations of the federal codes.
