Hi Gash. I've brewed most Coopers kits but yet to brew the pale ale. I was lucky enough a month ago on a night out in Burnley England to go in a Australian Bar called Walk About. And having a couple of Fosters first i noticed in the beer fridge a bottle with the Coopers logo on it,I was intrigued to taste a Coopers bottled conditioned beer. Taste great but flat and in a half pint glass ended up cloudy. So it should brew up nicely in a corny with the right amount of co2. Cheers.
Fosters is rarely drank in Australia, it's actually hard to find, the mass produced beers that are popular are VB Victoria Bitter and Tooheys New. Coopers beer is meant to be cloudy it's their trademark, their yeast flavour is what makes them different to other beers. Some pubs roll the coopers bottle to stir the yeast up before serving!! Coopers Pale Ale brew tin is my favourite to brew with because it is the least bitter one and fairly neutral in flavour so you can muck around with different hops and boils to get different flavours without getting too bitter like other tins do. Cheers Paul!
Cheers! Got Coopers pale ale brewing atm. 1 can, with BE2, 250gm of LDME, cultured yeast from 6 bottles of coopers pale ale. Next time i have to add some hops, but still in the amateur stage. trying to get close to the real thing. Tasted Australian Brewing company Pale Ale yesterday. Using Galaxy Hops. have you used those? strong hoppy flavour. Cheers!
You mentioned that you bottled a few as well, I am curious if you can remember (it's going back a couple of years now) how did they end up coming out the bottle? I am only new to brewing and only bottling at this stage. I only ask because you cold crashed before bottling and was wondering how the carbonation went in the bottle after doing so. The brew that I have in the bottles at the moment got a tad chilly the other night thanks to a drop in the overnight temp, just making sure it wouldn't have effected carbonation. Also point of interest at this very moment I am making an almost identical brew to this one. Slight variations here and there in the hops. It's currently sitting at 18 degrees and has been steady there for the past 2 days now, highest temp I saw was this morning at 19 and lowest was 17. Should be a good one.
I had to laugh when you needed to fill the first glass up again to do the comparison test against the all grain beer. How many times did you rehearse your lines before your final take? Nice work on both your brewing and your video presentation.
Hey Gash, love your vids mate. I'm having problems with that extract twang - you say to keep the fermentation temp nice and low, how low are we talking?
18c-19c it helps , but its not going to cover up old extract twang but i will help produce a better tasting beer. Fresh ingredients really helps, don't buy the old dusty can of extract at the back because its on special.. Avoid oxidation after ferment as much as possible! Cheers!
hi just put down a hoppy pale Ale followed your recipe, ready for kegging in a day, did you force carbonate your pale ale?,If so what psi did you do it please?
Gash you mention in the tasting you didn't even use any steeping grains. Im a newbie so just interested what change they would of made to the final outcome?
@@HomeBrewNetwork I'm going to hop this up with Mosaic, Galaxy, Amarillo and Citra, but just want the Hoppy aroma and fruity taste without the bitterness. Should I just steep them all at flameout or do a boil and steep?
I don't agree with the roll the bottle to suspend the yeast, although it does seem to be the trend the last few years, I actually think people probably started doing it because Coopers Pale Ale has no flavour... lol I have used the Coopers bottle yeast from the celebration ale (theres a vid somewhere here of me culturing it), it was ok, but a lot of work for not much benefit! I much prefer other yeasts though. I find Coopers beers way too yeasty. Cheers!
Hey gash. My version of this came out really really cloudy like nearly white. Tastes ok but want it looking like yours. I followed your recipe to a tee. ?????? Help!
I'm still a newbie (on my 5th brew currently) i have just set-up a fermenting fridge with a inkbird 308s temp controller which makes life so much easier :). My current brew is a Coopers canadian blonde with a bit extra in it, BE2 + 200G Maltodextrin + 25g cascade @ 20min, in the fridge at 18 degrees. Looking forward to it. Never good when your wife enjoys it lol
STEVE's DIRT if your making Fat yak clones with a tin of coopers pale ale, id be really interested to see your recipe and to share where im at in attempting it. cheers.
STEVE's DIRT ive done few lately. one with Amarillo. same thing. nice but not fat yak. I have another with mainly nelson sauvin in the keg. ill let you know how it turns out.cheers.
@@HomeBrewNetwork find it the cheapest way as cooper pale is 14$ and real ale 12$ at my local supermarket they tend to come out great with the right temp control and keg aging 😎
@@johnl3567 i always thought the real ale was strong enough on its own, flavour and bitterness wise. I found adding anything too much to it it really needed some ageing which i never had the time or patience for. I did love it by itself. The only two can i really liked was the stout and dark ale, but again it needed some time, a good bit of ageing. Cheers!
@@HomeBrewNetwork yea is quite better just did a toucan real ale no additional hops aged for a month in the kegs was quite nice like a strong esb, think it was 5.8% cost 24$ for 23 l batch . I’ll let you know how it turns out 🤙

Sounds Good! Yep I have used Galaxy a few times, you have to be careful because they are very strong, but nice! Cheers mate!
You are pouring clean brew there... and a fair comparison of the extract to all grain. Cheers

Gash you mention in the tasting you didn't even use any steeping grains. Im a newbie so just interested what change they would of made to the final outcome?
they can add a touch of freshness to the kit, but mostly people use it for head retention and a bit of sweetness. Cheers!
@@HomeBrewNetwork so would you suggest me using the grain if I want to have a similar go at this recipe.
Yeah you could, probably 200g of a light to medium crystal malt would do the trick!

yep you probably can cut out the boil hops, cheers!
Putting on your Hoppy Pale ale tonight. I will let you know how it goes! HHB

Nice, although i would say coopers pale ale is ment to be cloudy (pending personal preference ofcourse).
