This guy is the reason I’m still in business. Thanks Nathan!
Thank you for that!
Thank you, Nathan. You turned my belief system around on Real Estate Photography
It never occurred to me that my overall love and interest in photography is also helping me with my real estate work. I’m currently a contractor for a franchise realty photography service, but have goals to become truly independent by servicing realtors, builders, designers, and architects on my own. At 63 I don’t need 4-7 shoots a day or large brokerages with hundreds of realtors. A few well chosen, established clients will fit my purposes very well. Thank you for your excellent advice and great instruction!!
So true! And thank you!
Been doing it for about 5 years now and still learn new things everyday. Very important to continue to push yourself and find new tools. Great stuff as always Nathan
I agree, and thank you!
I very much appreciate your videos on real estate and architecture imaging services. I've been doing it a few years now, but still have so much to learn. I live in southwest Mississippi, and when I first got into this genre the one guy who was doing most of this work was way undercharging... like $175 for really nice homes and B&Bs. He moved away, and I took over most of the work. I just raised my prices this summer to where my standard package is $325. I did a Commercial Architecture shoot yesterday for $550. The point is, even with higher fees for my area I stay busy and the leading agents in our area use me. What you're saying is spot on. I look forward to learning more from you - especially on luminosity masking when doing high-end HDR. My HDR work has improved the last year, but I want to be better. Thanks for what you're teaching and educating us on! (One suggestion: because I watch and rewatch your videos for specific sections in order to reinforce my learning, it would help tremendously if you added chapter breaks! Thanks again - Mike)
Thank you! Glad this has been helpful. BTW, if you want to dig deeper into the high-end HDR technique you might want to look at my course Expert Editing at expertediting.nathancool.com My courses go much further in-depth than what I can do on TH-cam, the courses come with RAW files, and you get 50% off private sessions with me. Thanks again and I'm glad to hear things are working out well for you!
Brilliant advice. You right, skill and honing your craft is the most important and yes there has to be a love, not just for photography, but for the type of photography one does. Gear is secondary. As long as it's not inferior. I just do stills, interior, realty and accommodation establishments and one does not need the latest and greatest gear. Skill has to out perform your gear, when it goes it's go good time to upgrade, otherwise you just not matching your camera gear yet. Thank you love your channel. God bless.
Thank you!
Absolutely love your videos!! Do you do 1 on 1 calls if we sign up for the courses?
Thank you! Yes, everyone signed up for my courses gets 50% off private Zoom sessions with me. Feel free to email me directly too if you need more info or have any questions: Nathan@NathanCoolPhoto.com
This is well appreciated... watching from Nairobi, Kenya.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video! Your pricing examples typically focus on real estate photography, but how do you suggest pricing when you're a beginner photographer in a warm coastal area and the majority (85%) of your shots are for short-term rental services?
You're welcome! Same goes, no matter what. Don't undersell yourself. This is a more involved topic but I teach its strategies in my course on business and marketing for REP, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: rebusiness.nathancool.com
Hi Nathan, your videos are great. I've been following you for quite some time. Two questions: I've been doing real estate photography for around 4 years, but I'm thinking about getting into event photography, too. My budget is limited. You say in this video that Nikon Z5 is a great affordable camera for real estate, but is it also good or acceptable for events? What lens do you use for real estate with this camera? Thank you for your videos.
Thank you! Lens and camera choices vary by budget and there's a lot to discuss on the subject, but this can help you with that question and many others you may have: amzn.to/3Yo7Xm0
@NathanCoolPhoto Thank you for your response.👍👍👍
I disagree…the #one mistake real estate photographers make would be not listening to Nathan Cool ,lol! You never steered us wrong!
HA! Love it 😊 Thank you!
Thank you for the video ❤
You're very welcome!
If I have a Canon R5 and R6 which would you use for video?
If it was going to be used also for stills see this th-cam.com/video/BWdeELYiEDQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dwTokNkFSURTTaJ2&t=389
I’m confused. It took me back to the same video? I use my R5 and R6 for ALL my stills. So what’s the answer to video specs?
Perhaps you didn't watch that section long enough? The point is to use separate cameras for still than video. There are great, less expensive options for video that, when totaling your gear costs works out less in many cases.
@@NathanCoolPhotoI did. I’m not buying new equipment. I already own those two cameras. So you’re saying you wouldn’t use either of them for video?
Nathan, the sniff test is a real thing😅
HA HA! I know, right?

Mistake #2: Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS).
Mistake #2…guilty 😮
We've all been there, it's our nature 😂
