Love your list! Kanami " Mincho" Tono is definitely my personal #1. Doesn't mean she's the best. Love Bites has another player. Nemophila has another. Fate Gear has 2. Bridear 2. Erica from Whiskey Dust Is Fire! Etc etc etc. Probably need a top 20 list! LoL. Great video! ☺️😎🤘✌️🔥❤️‍🔥

Of course, lots of people can suggest many others, but a Top 5 forces you to make tough choices. Technically, Hal-Ca may already be the best of the bunch, but Kanami and Miyako deserve the top spots for their overall musical brilliance. Both are the primary composers for their bands, and both are multi-instrumentalists at a very high level. Great list.

Agree with your #1 - Kanami is NOT a shredder like some of the others you mentioned, but she is an exceptional musician - songwriting, flawless execution - as a fellow guitarist, I've listened to all of her solo's in countless live videos & never heard her make a mistake, and this girl transforms from shy to an absolute dominating presence on stage - the metamorphosis is really quite amazing. I've been playing guitar seriously for almost 40 years and never thought my guitar hero would look like her ...

Agreed on Kanami and Miyako second, this would be my TOP 2 too... Both are great songwriters (with Kanami IMO a little bit ahead on that one), but Miyako is the better technical guitar player. However... Kanami´s solos are the most emotional i have ever heard, always enhancing the song, great stage presence and is an AWESOME teamplayer. Doesnt mean that Miyako is not a teamplayer, but everyone in Band-Maid are really close and best friends, you cannot beat that chemistry.

There are quite a few similarities I've come to notice between the two. But for a very long time my favorite guitarist has been John Frusciante. I fell in love with Kanami's playing immediately and have come to like her more and more as she continues creating all this amazing stuff. At some point she passed JF as my favorite active guitar player. I don't personally feel like her body of work surpasses his yet but that seems pretty inevitable to me at this point. It's just a perfect storm. Someone as creative and gifted as her being blessed with what appears to be a healthy enough mental space to continue to grow without ego pumping the brakes and further being fortunate enough to be surrounded by other extremely talented professionals that are both like and different minded enough to keep this train running stronger and stronger.

All of your picks are great, but you forgot to include someone who is extremely talented, and that is Li-sa-X. I've seen her play together with Hazuki, who I adore, but Lisa is just something otherworldly. She plays a lot of jazz, rockabilly and bluegrass, which can be pretty tough to excel in. That said, as an all-around guitarist, I have to go with Mincho. I've seen her play live three times live and it was like watching a female version of Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton.

She was very articulate and thoughtful when Herman asked her questions, but when he was interviewing Miku, she became like very squirmy awkward and shy 5 year old girl. Her mannerisms were precious and her very high speaking voice was so cute, when Herman first called her name and she responded in her very high pitched voice "Hai". At the end of Herman Li's audition ( it was a live stream) Minchu was reading the comments and said " It say on the commentos Dragon Maido." Then she started giggling and ready "Herman Maido" The interpreter asked in Questioning tone Herman Maid. Kanami responded giggling "HAI" . Oh, the Herman Li audition with Miku and Kanami, on Without Holding Back was hilarious and amazing .
